Wow! Hidden gem here! The staff were super nice, the food came out fast, and the bathroom was FREEZING (in a good way). They had walking tacos for the kids, the loaded fries disappeared into our bellies, and the crawfish potato was insane! Like a pound of potato, cheese, green chilies, and crawfish. We got drinks off the summer special and they hit the spot with jalapeños and tajin to spice it up. read more

Had a little staycation in Galveston for NYE. We took the south route home and wanted some lunch. Belly's popped up on the map and it had great reviews so we stopped in SO WORTH IT! Their patio and views were amazing and so relaxing. The cutest restaurant indoor/outdoor. We also had our dog which they accommodated with some water. She also made friends with the sweet manager Erin (i think! Hopefully we got it right). Food was good and vibes were better. Will definitely be stopping by next time we are going to or coming from Galveston. read more

If you are able to, this is a must stop! I decided to detour to stop for some lunch on my way to Surfside Beach one Friday midday. When I'm heading to the beach, I crave some fresh gulf shrimp and discovered Belly's on the Brazos and this may have to be my new pre-beach stop! When I arrived, there was plenty of parking in the lot near the restaurant and already a decent crowd for the lunch rush considering it was around 11AM or so. I went to the bar to rest a bit and place my to go order. I was almost immediately enticed by the frozen cocktail machines at the bar, so decided to order the frozen sangria - it was flavorful with strong raspberry and lemon flavors. While looking at the menu, the staff and I started talking and we had so much fun! It was one of those experiences were you meet someone for the first time, but feel like you've known them for years - it felt like that with about 2-3 of the staff members! I stayed much longer than I planned because of how much fun we were having. When I let them know I wanted to eat my food on the beach, they packed extra napkins and wet wipes for me. Let me tell you - they helped a lot! And my shrimp craving? Fully quenched, except now I want more just writing this review! read more

Lots of locals posting up after a day on their boats. Very chill indoor/outdoor seating w no dress code (read: swimsuits and shorts). Great view from the docks in front. Huge portions of food, albeit mostly fried. read more

Seems like a neat place, we must have just come at the wrong time of year. Sunny outside, but air was chilly and a bit windy. Our greeting when we came in was not the most friendly, woman behind the bar didn't even smile and mumbled something that I assume was our greeting. Our server, though nice, seemed very new and inexperienced. But she seemed to be nervously trying to do a good jobl My drink order never was what I ordered. I think there was confusion with the server and woman behind the bar. Our server didn't seem old enough to serve it to me, it was broght over by bar tender. It was pricey for not ever really getting what I requested. The day we were there, they had one of the garage doors open and the front door as well. It was so cold in there, we almost left to go elsewhere as I suspected the food would be cold before it got to the table to be eaten. After our 2nd request, they finally closed the one garage door,, but was still a bit chilly. Then they told us they just put the heater on. (the heater helped but have entry door open to bring food in from food trailer) We didn't realize the food was made in an outside trailer and walked inside. I got the crawfish tail ? Ettofee baked potato ? Ettofee sp?. Although The potato was well baked, and the sauce was Very good, there was only 4 or 5 very small crawfish tails on it. I ended up taking it home with me as it just wouldn't stay warm enough for me to eat more of it. I wish they would of had some type of thermal box, or cover to bring the food in from the outside trailer to the table... My husband had a mushroom swiss burger which was good, and some really delicious flat shaped fries, but again, keeping our food warm enough to eat it was not the best situation. There were some really good looking things on the menu, but it was just too cold in there that day. During nice weather, I'm sure our experience would have been much better, as it seems like a really nice place with a very nice patio with great view. read more

Cute place, great atmosphere and view outside. Wish they had live music this Saturday night. Good location on a bayou. A little bit from Surfside beach but only 12 minutes. Good place to go after beach when ready to head out. Had the crab cheesesticks, not bad and toned it down today with a side of broccoli to try and keep my six pack to turning into a four pack lol. Good place read more

Food is delicious... we ordered boudin balls cheese for appetizer with tartar sauce very tasty Shrimp Basket ( 8 big shrimp ) with coleslaw with 2 hush puppies with french fries - my friend and aunt loves it I ordered hot honey chicken -- its a sandwich with french fires ... i love the crisps of the chicken the flavor with honey -- delicious .... The restroom is clean ... only i did not like is the walls on the cubicles is very high its like when you sit on the toilet people can see you from outside.... The wall is useless i guess .... my aunt said its just the level of the toilet sit... Still we will come back here read more

Awesome place to hang out! I tried the boudin balls followed by a lobster roll and hamburger Rockefeller. The boudin balls are more of a delicious cheesy snack than a boudin ball. The gooey cheesy inside stole the show and a boudin purist would scoff, but these were an excellent appetizer. The lobster roll was a straightforward deliverance of buttery, creamy lobster on a salad-style bed packed into a Texas toast roll. Be sure to grab extra napkins before you embark on the journey! (A lobster roll that ain't messy ain't a lobster roll worth investing in!) Finally the hamburger Rockefeller is described on the menu as "IYKYK". I can break that down for you like this: WYKYK! (When you know you know!) It. Is. Decadent. I'll be back for sure! read more

One of my favorite places in the area! Everything I have tried - shrimp, loaded fries, crawfish etouffee, all their loaded potatoes, havarti burger - has been fantastic. They often have live music on the patio as well! read more

We got there on a night when there was a party going on. It was loud. But, it was also FUN! The waitress seated us enough "out of the way so that we could actually converse over the Karaoke. The "vibe" was very good. The food though was AWESOME. Although the ambiance clearly said "Bar Food" the meal was exquisite. The staff was attentive (without being unnecessarily obsequious. It was a very memorable night. Best restaurant meal I have had in years. Certainly worth a return trip. read more

The service was fantastic! Sweet ladies and very attentive. The view was gorgeous tonight with the sunset and an amazing breeze off of the water. We sat on the deck watching the boats go by. Just what I had in mind this evening! The food was great. Deviled eggs hit the spot. The margarita was delish with a hint of orange and a nice salt rim! Our entrees were fabulous also. I had the baked potato with creamy crawfish etouffee which I'm taking half home. My husband had a giant hamburger with etouffee also on it. Great eve read more

Belly’s On The Brazos - Great outside deck! - New American Near Me - Freeport, Texas

The outside seating was good, had live music, and was on the river. Food came quick, had a happy hour. I will say the food was cooked in a food truck next to the restaurant. The staff was not dressed very professionally and you would have not known they were the staff or not. The salad was fantastic. My friend got the hot honey chicken and said it was okay, but very juicy and a little too much to eat and enjoy. My other friend got the fried shrimp and really enjoyed it, along with the fries she got. We also got the crab rangoon cheese stick appetizer which was good. Overall, the location and outdoor seating was good but could live without the food and mid staff. read more

Wonderful venue, tasty food and drinks. Definitely worth coming back too! Great service too!

Don't let the dirt parking lot fool you, this place is super nice and the view of the river is amazing! (Would be nice to have that parking lot updated or covered in some way though). We sat out on the patio with our pug and even though it was a hot day, under the shade of the trees and right next to one of the open doors, we were comfortable. We were only there for a quick bite and cocktails, but service was great! Ordered the Blueberry Paloma, the Mai Tai and a dozen oysters. That paloma was so refreshing and delicious! A must-try! The Mai Tai was decent enough, but could've used some dark rum to really make it better. Oysters were big and plump. Served with plenty of horse radish, lemon and cocktail sauce. It was a perfect afternoon treat! We will be back to try more drinks and food, for sure. read more

If youre looking for a 5/5 ambience with friendly staff, this will hit. But the food is a 3/5 being underseasoned for me. Their exception is their french fries, they're thinly sliced and taste great. With a little extra salt and pepper, the food could definitely rise to 4/5. We got the belly burger, crawfish bread, fried shrimp, and crawfish etouffee. It's family and pet friendly, get a tea and some appetizers and enjoy the scenery. read more

This place should have been packed. Everything we ate was top notch. The fries, the fried shrimp, the etoufee smothered fish ...the broccoli for chrissakes was perfection (pan sauteed). The drinks were solid. Great building and porch overlooking the drop RR bridge (moved from Houma, LA), a story in and of itself. Staff is friendly and attentive. Forget the iffy beach restaurants, the gems are hidden like this is. read more

I was in the area teaching and one of the students mentioned this place. He said it belonged to his family, so at this point I am obligated to try it. I headed that way. You drive through a refinery and an Industrial area. I was sorta sketched out on the final turn, but at the end of the road there is a large parking lot and a nice looking restaurant right on the water. I was seated immediately outside in the deck. What a wonderful spot. The drinks were local, unique, and tasty. I ordered a chicken dinner which was grilled breast covered in mushrooms over a bed of some sort of Cajun type rice. Overall great experience. read more

Absolutely delicious!! Came over from Port Lavaca and my daughter and son-in-law who had been here suggested we try it. Love this place, and we will come back here to try more off the menu. A diamond in the rough, this place is right on the old river in old Freeport. Great atmosphere! It was chilly so we didn't want to sit outside, but still enjoyed the atmosphere and plan to come back when the weather is warmer. Food and service was great! We came for lunch, so it was filling up when we arrived. We got a table and a drink ordered. We ordered the Hot Crab Dip with pita chips for an appetizer, and it did not disappoint. My husband and son-in-law loved it. It is very tasty, but a little heavy on the Tabasco for my taste. Still it was yummy with big pieces of crab meat. I ordered the Hot Honey Chicken sandwich with dill slaw, and my taste buds were doing back flips. Super delicious and finger-licking good messy. Be sure to ask for extra napkins! My husband ordered the Crawfish Étouffée stuffed Baked Potato-oh my! It was HUGE. We needed a to go cover for the plate to take part home, and my husband has no issue putting a whole baked potato away anytime. My son-in-law ordered the French Onion Burger and said it was very tasty. We all agreed the fresh cut on the Fries that came with the sandwiches and burgers was new spin on fries and definitely delicious. The manage came by and visited us, and we found her to be very friendly and accommodating. Service was anticipating and on spot for all our needs. My daughter says the place is busy in the evenings and outside is packed in the summer. We will come back again when the weather is warm. You must check this place out! Great place to dine. read more

Food was very good, great service, cheerful staff, live music was nice even from inside.

Another great restaurant to add to a list of successful concepts including Asiel's, poly pop and dirty south! Great boating ambience and menu. It's like an icehouse with the garage doors that open on to a patio. Cooler but might be still hot inside for some. I really enjoyed everything I tried, including the deviled eggs which I didn't get a photo of- but nice selection and quality! Worth the drive from Angleton for sure and added to the restaurant rotation! read more
