Dairy Bar has been around the Lake Jackson area for a long time. They've even won awards. The history of Dairy Bar is plastered along the wall and you get a glimpse of how they came to be. They're pretty proud of their success. Now as for the food? It's hit or miss. The steak finger basket This was definitely something I would not order again. It was so overcooked and burnt, you could taste the oil. BLT I was quite surprised that this was actually decent. They buttered up the toast and plenty of mayo. The lettuce was crispy and refreshing. Bacon was crunchy. How can you mess up a BLT? Burger The Burger was cooked well and was beefy. No complaints Corn dog This the star of the meal. Beware, they charge for water in a styrofoam cup. This is painful to write. Ordered double meat jalapeno burger well done and onion rings. Got order which was COLD and burger was barely done and onion rings were barely done and cooked in burnt grease. Sent it all back. Burger came out little more done but was cooked at best, medium, and asked for fries instead of onion rings. Fries came out raw and barely warm. Won't be back for nothing but a malt. This is NOT the only time food came out wrong. SAD because this was the best burger in town and cannot trust the food being prepared. Please consider closing the doors or just serving malts and frozen treats. The food is HORRIBLE!!!!! Still have the memories of how great is used to be, which are priceless. Just had to be brutally honest since this place was so ICONIC at least for many of us from LJ in the past. Please do not bother sending any type of compensation. Attaching receipt for your records. Really do mean it when I am telling to close the doors. You could try to get some better cooks, change management, and get more help, but this would be the only chance. Food speaks for itself!!! We stopped by yesterday and had an amazing experience. It started out a little rocky, and ended with us planning another trip for the ice cream!! Service at the counter was spot on. Kitchen made a boo-boo that counter help didn't catch. In the end, it was corrected and we leave very happy. If you love hand dipped corn dogs, this is the place to go! One of the best corn dogs I've ever eaten in my life. While there, take the time to read the history on the restaurant. It is quite intriguing. The ambiance is very old school diner - and lovely! We used to love their salads, now they are so small compared to a few months ago. I guess the price of tomatoes got too high now. Winter tomatoes are mushy, that's what we got. Priced the same, but the salad is much smaller. One onion ring, one skinny bell pepper ring, an extra small egg, a little bit of grated yellow cheese, but the Lettuce was crisp and fresh. Long time customer lost. We won't be going back. Service is so slow. A couple of weeks ago we were told our online order was lost. We reordered, had to wait for it, then they magically "found" our first order and tried to give us both. We then had to wait for a refund when we declined taking home both orders. Tonight was worse. We ordered online and were told our order would be ready at 8:00. We arrived a few minutes before 8 and checked in after waiting several minutes before even being spoken to. Staff was vastly more concerned with getting ready to close than taking care of their customers. At 8:25, I went to the counter and asked when our order would be ready, as several people who came in and ordered after us had already received their food. It was just sitting on the counter. No one had called our name. Then, when I said that they have me the wrong salad, a sweet younger girl went and got a manager who proceeded to argue with me about what I ordered. We order the same thing every other week. I just click reorder the same meal. The salad tonight came in a side salad container and it was just lettuce, chicken, and maybe a spoonful of corn. I paid $10+ for a full sized salad and instead was argued with about a meal that I have ordered several times. We walked out and we won't be back. read more

Been going here for years (worked here for years awhile back, too). Cute, homey vibes. Great malts, homemade sherbet (if you have a sweet tooth, try the sherbet mixed with sprite. "Sherbet frosty"). Was under the impression the place was open til' 9 but once we were done eating went back up to get our ice cream and were told they were closed, 20 minutes til 9, I mentioned it would have been nice had someone mentioned the machines were being shut off since they were very much aware we were sitting there finishing our dinner. Service was exceptional and quick this afternoon. I ordered the half pound special. As always, the burger was fantastic. I ordered it with no onions and they got it right. The fries were hot the whole time, down to the very last one. I ordered a frosted root beer. This one today was thicker than they usually are. It felt more like a shake than a frosted drink. Tasted great, but wasn't what I've come to expect over the years. The restaurant, including the restroom, was clean. read more

First off I eat there all the time, young men that work in the evenings know me and what I order, I love their food but when they make a mistake on your order they will not accept responsibility, they don't make them all the time bit the times they have they don't want to compensate for them. Do not judge a book by its cover. This place may look straightforward and probably not so enticing, but give it a chance you won't regret it. So, I pull up in a rush sort of, and there isn't a drive-thru sign, so I drove around and found the window. The woman greeted me nicely and asked what would I like and being my first time, I was still curious on what to get so she gave me a few options, but I chose the burger and large fries. It was the best choice since the beef is grinded in the house which makes for a juicy burger and I have to say it was a top-notch sandwich. The fries were also delicious crinkle cut just how I like them. Now at this gem yeah it's a small yet great place they announce your order over a megaphone or you can dine-in, but the whole experience gave me flashes from movies I've seen in the past like "grease." They have a little sliding window where a nice lady greets you and hands you your food. I, however, mentioned it was my first time there, and she insisted I have a shake on the house. They have the best shakes in town hands down! Such great service, friendly people and a lovely establishment. I will be back for more and more!!;) read more

Dairy Bar used to be my favorite place in the world for a burger growing up; a highlight of my summer visits to my grandparents' houses was always getting a Dairy Bar burger and shake. This place is a serious landmark of Lake Jackson. This Christmas I decided to indulge my burger-hankering with a nostalgic visit to Dairy Bar. Alas, it's just not good anymore. The burger was bland, the bun was flat, and the fries were tasteless. I don't know if I just romanticized how good it was as a kid, or if it really has gone down hill. I Can remember going through the drive-through with my dad when I was a little kid so I decided to take my kids while we were visiting. After a long day at the lake my friends father suggested to come here. We all ordered the grilled chicken sandwich with fries and let me tell you THAT JALAPEÑO BREAD WAS TO DIE FOR. The sandwich itself is good but the bread takes the cake here. The place is a little small and old school but still cute and comfy to sit in. The only reason I took off one star is because the fries just weren't that good. I was look forward to the fries at a restaurant and these just weren't it.
