Smoke flavor is potent and heavy, which I love. It was just a tad bit on the dry side, but tender. Probably drying out by sitting. BBQ sauce is thick and has great flavor. Excellent customer service. Place is clean. Mac and cheese was ok, but lack the real cheesey flavor. I didn't care for the banana pudding.... Didn't have the texture I like. Oh the prices can't be beat! The very best smokehouse/bbq I've ever been to? I'd say YES! The service was super-friendly. My order was put together quickly. I got my food to-go and when I opened the box it was a feast for my eyes. I had the bbq chicken plate with mac+cheese and also pinto beans. The mac+cheese was the best I've ever tasted. The pinto beans were also delicious. But I've saved the best for last: The chicken was everything I could ever hope for. Definitely delicious but also perfectly moist and juicy. This place has excellent BBQ but they aren't open nearly as often as they should be. The food is definitely worth it though.

Sausage was good. Ribs were a bit overcooked and beans and potato salad wasn't really seasoned for my taste. Service was great people that worked there were hella nice and very accommodating. Would definitely try again just get something different next go around. Initially, this review was going to be a 4 star review. Here was the draft in my head: Sista White's Cafe is a quaint little cafe. The service was awesome. It was as if you were family. I had ordered the 4 meat plate since I don't live in the area and I don't know when I'll be back! I ordered the ribs, brisket, chicken, and pulled pork. For my sides I went with cabbage and collared greens. I got out of there at about $18 after the sweet tea. They had first brought me out some green beans. I let them know and without question or hesitation, they told me to keep the green beans they'll bring me out the collard greens. The dry rub here is definitely the star of the show. It is most evident on the ribs, but of course it's encrusted on the chicken skin and brisket crust. I think I could've done without the pulled pork. The cabbage was nice as it was probably one of the lighter side. Collard greens were not bad either. Ultimately, I'd probably give this a 4.5 stars. While I enjoyed the ribs and brisket, they were not the most moist that I've had. (Not to say they're dry!) Also, I didn't enjoy the bbq sauce too much, personally I thought there's too much ketchup in that mix. TL;DR Service is excellent. Dry rub is the star of the show. I particularly enjoyed the ribs and brisket the most. Also I can vouch for their vegetable sides. P.S. I chose to save some of my food rather than scarf it down and feel terribly full all day. THAT DRY RUB BOI. After it really sinks into the meat, maaaaaan the leftovers are even better. That is what pushed this place to 5 stars. read more

The people are really friendly but the bbq isn't very good. The brisket was very dry and cut extremely thick. The sausage was dried out and void of flavor. The ribs were pretty good. Sista White Cafe is awesome! Texas BBQ at its very best! They close at 1pm and do not open on weekends. Come early and get steaming hot plates. Sides are homemade as well as desserts. I've had brisket, ribs, sausage and turkey. All good and I'd order any of them again. The Red Velvet cake is like crack! Nothing fancy nor should it be. The place smells smoky but isn't. Place is pretty clean, servers are nice, food comes out quick and taste good. Portion sizes are good and cost is affordable. Honestly not the best Mac and cheese around, but this specific dish Pork N Mac with the meat (I like to do half pulled pork and half chopped brisket) the Mac, and the BBQ sauce all taste really great together. Absolutely the best barbecue in the Freeport area! It might be the best I've ever had and I've lived in Texas my entire life. The brisket was tender, moist, and all lean. They don't try to go cheap by slicing up the fatty side and serving it as sliced brisket. I hate when restaurants do that. The sausage was pre-sliced and delicious, and the sides were good. I got potato salad and mac and cheese. The potato salad was not chunky (which I would have preferred) but still had good flavor. The mac and cheese was great. Not dried out like a lot of places. Tasty, juicy, tender, flavorful - all that you expect in BBQ but are frequently left wanting. Not here. From here, we left wanting for nothing. We had ribs, brisket and sausage. We also had most of their sides - beans, green beans, mac and cheese, potato salad. This was served with the traditional fixings - sauce, bread, pickles and onions. Yes, I am in Texas. One of the hallmarks of good bbq is that the sauce is served on the side, not on top of the meat. This meat does well on it's own without the sauce. The sauce is delightfully on the spicy side. The place is welcoming. The smell confirms you are in the right place and the taste makes the trip worth the drive. I was happy from the moment I entered until my lunch was over. Another sign of a place that relies on good smoked bbq is being open until 2pm, 5 days a week. This is a place that is able to make enough people happy in a few hours a day and stay open. Get there before 1 if you want a full selection, just saying. I was fortunate that they had enough of what I wanted that I was just fine. No one back at the house was left disappointed. There were six of us who were fed by this feast. No one was disappointed or hungry after we were done. I felt the price was more than fair, especially considering the quality of the food. I had to take a chance to update my review. First i would like to say congrats on a complete sell out earlier this week. It is a testament to how far a friendly staff and great food goes. We had them cater our Thanksgiving lunch for the employees. There was a "b-ton" of food. Not one of our guys are shy eaters and there was enough for seconds. The best BBQ I have had in Texas yet! And this little gem is right in Freeport!? It's small, the staff are super friendly, and when you walk in you forget that it's Freeport (surrounded by chemical plants). I have tried just about everything on the menu and have enjoyed it all! There's not much to this place besides the food. No fancy gimmicks. It's not touristy. It's just a place to get good food. And people of all classes gather here for lunch. The chemical engineers and the scaffold builders all congregate here. Fun fact, you'll smell like smoke and everyone back at the office will know where you ate. Based on what I had, I was not impressed. I kind of expected a baked potato but instead it was some kind of runny hash brown stuff. That would have been fine if they had baked it and put some cheese on top and then baked it with the cheese. I also had to chop beef on top which was okay. It just wasn't very appetizing. We met the owner at Wal-mart several days before, and he mentioned his restaurant. Since we are staying at Surfside Beach, TX, we thought we'ld try out the b-b-que place. It is easy to find. No reviews, so we took a chance. Food was good. We shared a plate - beef, chicken and ribs. The side was the cheese smashed potatoes. It was good, although I didn't think it looked too good. Some of the best barbecue I've had. We arrived on a Sunday around 3 and they were already out of brisket and sausage. We tried the chicken - which was perfectly cooked. It was mouthwatering. The ribs were fall off the bone finger licking good and the pulled pork with spicy sauce was amazing. The potato salad was perfect and the beans were tasty goodness. The staff was super friendly. And we were very impressed by eating on a real plate with real forks and knives - no styrofoam and plastic. Huge portions. Tasty, tasty, tasty! We will definitely return. read more
