They did such a fantastic job on insurance restoration that we also added two complete bathrooms and basement renovations. Everything was done on time and within budget. Alex and his team made the whole process incredibly smooth and stress free. Alex even went further and worked with our insurance, submitted all documentations and receipts for timely payments, explained the whole process to us, etc. We are extremely happy with the results. The craftmanship, attention to the details, and professionalism really stood out. The team was clean, well organzied, very professional. Everything looks beautiful, made to last, high quality. The result: we put house on the market and it was sold in 4 days! He basically told me that it was $200K to even break ground; then to add the addition of a shed and extend the office was gonna cost an upwards of $300K and up easily. I was floored by his demeanor and attitude. The estimated price was ridiculous because for all that I will just buy a new home.

I have been going back and forth with Centricity, the warranty company almost daily for 3 weeks with no resolution in sight. Every time I call, I am told a completely different story. Reaching out to B & S management for support and help has proved equally frustrating. They claim they cannot help since the warranty is in my name. B & S is the company that sold me the warranty, so they should be trying to help in some capactiy. Crystal, in upper management literally said to me "I deal with these complaints all day." It is clear she has become immune to helping her customers. Zero empathy. I really cannot put into words how frustrating this experience has been. 3 weeks and counting without a functioning dryer that is under warranty, yet nobody will help. It's like talking to a wall every time I call. I have purchased numerous appliances from B & S, obviously, NO MORE. If you value a company that stands behind its products and their customers, do NOT buy from Bray & Scarff. If I could give negative stars, I would. WORST customer service experience of my life.

May 2nd, 2025 I contacted Bray & Scarff as the range hood was no longer working and requested service under the extended protection plan. May 9th, 2025 Technician came out and said it needs a control board and a switch, which he told me he ordered and it should arrive within 10 days or so.. After several weeks of hearing nothing I called Bray & Scarff service. I was told the part was on back order and they would seek an alternative supplier. Several more weeks passed so I went to the store. They contacted the service department that was not responding to me. Service responded next day and scheduled a service call. June 24th, 2025 Another technician came out on June 24 and told me the part had not actually been ordered, because the original technician probably did not realize he needed to make a phone call to order it. He ordered the part from Broan (the maker of Best appliances) in my presence and I was again told it told it would take around 10 days or so to arrive. July 10th, 2025 I put in a detailed complaint on the Bray & Scarff website I selected that I can be contacted by phone, text or E-mail and the best time for me is ANYTIME. I received NO response. July 14, 2025 I called Bray & Scarff yet again. After a long delay, I was told that the cost of the repair was too high and they would refund me the purchase price of $1950 (the actual purchase price was $2052) and I would receive a check in the mail shortly. THE COST OF THE PARTS WAS KNOWN TO BRAY& SCARFF ON MAY 9th, WHEN THEIR TECHNICIAN MADE THE DIAGNOSIS. August 6, 2025 My wife made yet another call to Bray & Scarff. She was told the check had not been mailed and they would look into it. August 10th, 2025 STILL NOTHING Filed a complaint with BBB Proposed Settlement This is a breach of contract. Excellent prices but awful the moment I pressed "buy". 2.5 month back order even though they charged my card and told me that a built in refrigerator was available for purchase and sale. Blamed it on supply chain issues with manufacturer. Finally got a call from a third party installer. Lots of problems: they left a mess at the end of my driveway, leaving all of the packaging behind. Did not fully install flush, which I had to have redone, installer left without installing the handle. We ran after them out the door and they said "oops, oh yeah, we have that in the truck. We don't install them though, you have to do that". Emailed AJ Madison and even President of AJ (Michael Gross) and not a word back. AVOID AVOID AVOID.

While I do appreciate that my situation was eventually addressed, it should never take 80 emails, multiple technicians, months of delay, and extreme persistence for a customer to get a resolution on an appliance that was clearly sold damaged. For context: I purchased all new Café appliances -- a double wall oven, refrigerator, and microwave. I was convinced by the sales representative to buy an open-box microwave, assured that nothing was wrong with it other than a cosmetic scratch. When delivered, the microwave door was broken and unusable. Two technicians confirmed this and submitted photos to management, yet I continued to be pushed into more delays instead of a replacement. It's unfortunate that it took escalating to this level before someone stepped in. While I'm relieved the issue was finally handled, the process was unnecessarily frustrating and time-consuming, and customer service prior to Claudia's involvement was extremely disappointing. I strongly suggest AJ Madison improve how open-box issues and customer complaints are handled so other customers don't have to go through this.

The tub in the master was converted into a walk-in shower. New electrical and ventilation were added. The owner Justin was great to work with, communicated almost daily, and stopped by the house frequently to check on the progress of the work and answer any questions or concerns I had. Selvin the team lead is a true craftsman, knows his stuff, and clearly takes pride in the quality of his work. Others on the team worked equally hard and they have all been with Calabrese for at least 10 years. I was pleased to see the company take their time and do a quality job instead of a rushed one like you often see. They addressed each of my concerns and the results speak for themself. Now if only the rest of the house was a nice as my new bathrooms!

The quality of the selections for flooring, cabinetry, etc were very good. I think they work best with smaller renovations. They also do not do HVAC and so radiator systems and moving radiators need to be monitored. In my renovation, at least, they tended to easily discard things like overhead fans, small cabinets , doors with old antique doorknobs, that I would have liked to save and re-use.

And everything you see in these photos, we had to point out to them! I guess they hoped we just wouldn't notice or would take care of these things ourselves. This project began in Oct with the goal of being done by Thanksgiving. Today is Jan 5th and we're still waiting for some of these problems to be resolved. Our calls and correspondence are often met with silence or being told that the person we are trying to reach is out of the country. In desperation, I even called the cabinet manufacturer to find possible solutions to the unstable island. MK&B responded with an ultimatum that we choose their waterfall quartz counter design or we would be charged $4000 for our desired cabinet material support panel alternative. Even as we wait for them to complete our kitchen job, we receive their marketing emails. The only thing they have been prompt about is requesting payment. If you hire them, expect plenty of change orders and accept that you are paying more for the very items you may find on Amazon or at the big box stores. As for whether that added expense is worth it, based on our experience we would say absolutely not! Save yourself some money and headaches, and take your business some place else!

Texts/emails usually go unanswered. 2) We rarely knew when the crew was going to show up which made it very difficult to plan our days around. 3) The kitchen cabinets which were supposed to be white ended up looking quite yellow and the island ended up being a different white than the cabinets behind it. Does not look any different when lights are on or off. 4) One section of under cabinet lights stopped working and the glued-on strip came off. A text was sent to them 4 days ago with no response. These lights are quite dim, and they lack a high/low setting which is common in good quality under cabinet lights. Every other kitchen remodel project we have done included this. 5) The cabinet doors bang into the walls and other cabinets when opened as they failed to adjust the hinges to prevent this. Again, with other kitchen remodel projects we have done, it was never an issue.

    Amazing contractor!!!…read more Lawrence and his crew did a complete renovation of our basement to build an apartment for my parents. From the design through completion, it was a great experience. I found them here on Yelp and I obtained 3 quotes for the job. I had the quotes reviewed by an independent contractor who told me L&R's quote was what the job should reasonably cost. I called 4 references who all had a similar and very positive experience. Lawrence always communicated with me about schedule which had not been the case with other contractors. They were there working on my job every day, not showing up once or twice a week like some others. Any fluctuation to schedule or budget was discussed and agreed upon by both parties. We had a couple of unexpected plumbing delays but that was due to the original build not being up to the current code. I changed direction on a couple of design decisions and Lawrence was right there with me. The work was exceptional and the end product is amazing. I have had the nightmare contractor experience so was very cautious. This was exactly as the process should be and I plan to have them back in the fall to do more work. I give them my highest recommendation!

Everything is put down on paper with itemized costing. No surprises. 4. Every day everything is cleaned out. No trash / mess lying around. 5. Communication is quick and responsive. 6. Changes to project scope are agreed quickly and without a fuss.
