And oh my goodness was it worth it . You start off with an appetizer - spicy tortilla soup or a garden salad. Highly recommend the soup The water of the day was passion fruit flavored which was subtle but yum. No refills on this. Tacos - we were three people and ate overall maybe 20 tacos. It was amazing. Steak tacos are my number one tacos! Steak was cooked to perfection. Flavor was bursting. Such a nice balance with fresh tacos. Chicken tacos come in second for me. I'm not a fan of mayo, but eating it all together makes the dish Birria - lots of brisket and lots of cheese. Be aware. One of these took me over. I prefer the first two the most Carnitas - loaded with pulled pork. Very tender. Very salty. Way too much. Beef tongue - tried and done. Not meaty at all. Very organ tasting. The orders come in twos and it is recommended that you order lots because it takes them forever to get it to you. Our waitress took care of us and kept us fed, reminding us to order if we were running low and the overall pace of our lunch was fantastic! You end the meal with fried churros and chocolate sauce. This is one of my favorite Mexican restaurants in town. They have great vibes and friendly staff. They also have free parking at the back of the restaurant. They offer all you can eat tacos on Thursdays and Fridays 12-3pm for $35+tax and you can enjoy as many tacos as you want; choice of soup or salad, one non alcoholic drink and churros with chocolate sauce are included in the all you can eat menu. And of course ordering Margarita is a must in a Mexican restaurant. My favorite tacos were Pork Shoulder Taco, Grilled Steak Taco and Birria Quesadillas Taco. read more

First time trying a new restaurant in Oakville as recommended by my friend. We came here during happy hour on a Friday. The restaurant was cute and pretty, waiters were nice and quick service. We ordered the salsa tasting and a regular guacamole which was good. We also ordered a bunch of tacos but not every taco is included in the happy hour. The tacos were filled with the meat and toppings. It tasted great, the meat and toppings but I didn't like the tortilla. It was hard and dried, texture was like cardboard unfortunately. I ordered the beef carpaccio to try a Mexican version and that was a huge disappointment. It was serve on the same tortilla I think which made it soggy and hard to cut. This was our first visit to Por Vida. Ill start by saying food was particularly good. Staff on the other hand, meh. I ordered an Expresso Martini. Our waiter told us they were out of Kaluha, but they would substitute with a different liquor, and it would be good. It was not "good," it tasted like a Tim Horton's watered-down Ice Coffee. Also, the waiter did not come by once during our stay to ask us if we wanted anymore drinks. Once we got the bill, I mentioned my drink and got no reaction or "I am sorry." We were charged for it. Theres all you can eat tacos but they are done in a weird way.. theyre brought at all separate times so 3 (of my party of 7) got their food, then myself and my dad got our food, then my sister but it was incorrect so we had to send it back. Everyone is now done their food but my sister hasnt got her tacos, so we had to wait for her food to come. She never got them. Then they charged us for the incorrect and the correct order even though we didnt get either.. There was also a lot of food brought to us that we didnt order. My girls and I tried the ayce taco special and loved it. Their soup of the day was yummy and seemed like a thick stew - definitely heart warming. We went through the following tacos: pork shoulder, beef birria, steak, cauliflower, and chicken. By the time we ordered more to try chicken - this was the most flavorful and saucy. Chicken tacos ended up being my favorite. I would have loved to try the seafood (squid ink, octopus, and shrimp) in addition but we have a habit of ordering with our eyes and got full from a couple of rounds. We had great food and great drinks. The service was lovely in hearing what recommendations were, including checking out nearby holiday lights at Coronation Park. Came here to try their all you can eat taco special and was pleasantly surprised. The carne asada taco was absolutely phenomenal!! It was juicy, flavourful, tender, and just a very good portion. The birria was a little lackluster as the consume was a little bland and it was a little bland. Pork shoulder and cauliflower was surprisingly very good as the flavours were pretty good and the sauces on them were surprisingly very balanced. The beef tongue was a little more chewy and definitely a little gamey but was not horrible. All in all for $35 it is a pretty good offer! The staff is also very friendly. tl;dr Must visit if in Oakville. Delicious food. My friends and I decided to eat here upon a recommendation from someone, and it was one of the better dining experiences I've had. Our server was great giving us recommendations and guiding us through the menu when he found out that it was our first time at the restaurant. He continually checked in on us during our meal and made sure we had everything. We decided to go with most of his recommendations and they were all delicious. Our drinks and food were delicious and came out fairly quickly which was a bonus. We ordered in order of the pictures: -Aguachile Negro - shrimp ceviche with squid ink - truffle oil, pepitas and cotija guacamole -the devils avocado - elotes x 2 - carne asada tacos -churros Not pictured was pulpa al guajillo (grilled octopus with chile and mexican rice. The octopus was amazing. cooked perfectly and tasted great The tacos and the elotes are must try imo. All this good food comes at a price though. We were a party of 7 that ordered a drink and entree each, with 4 apps to share and a desert. When split evenly it was around $64 with tip for each person. Will visit again! read more

Por Vida is an awesome place to enjoy authentic Mexican cuisine in the Halton Region. The atmosphere and decor add to the dining experience, with intricate Mexican inspired art full of colour throughout the space. Cocktails and dishes were exciting and adventurous. One thing I was hoping for was a mix and match Taco menu. There are 5 options under the "Taco Bar" heading on the menu but you can only order 3 of one kind. Don't get me wrong, the Tacos they are offering are amazing, but I think giving guests the ability to order 3 different ones of their choice would let them expand their palate and try things they may not have had before. In my opinion, you are paying more for the experience than for the quantity of food. That said, if you want to avoid or can't make it to Toronto for a similar experience, I would definitely recommend trying out Por Vida! I would recommend making a reservation or arriving in time to wait for a table as it is a small space. I will be back! read more

Waitress was excellent. Commendable that they sell Corona 0 alcohol beer. I don't understand the 5 star reviews. Really wanted to like this place, since I love Mexican food. There was a ton of hype around this place before they opened. Finally got to check it out with a friend. The decor and environment are definitely a major part of the dining experience. Few, if any, places are like it in the GTA (or at least Halton region). We shared the ahi tuna tostadas, ordered a variety of salsas to go with our complimentary chips and we ordered from their taco bar menu. Unfortunately, the tacos aren't mix and match so when you choose a taco you get two or three of the same kind. We had the chicken tacos and the quinoa shrimp tacos. The food is simple and small, not fall of your chair amazing. If it weren't for the salsas the taco may have been a bit bland. The Latin ambience is what really makes the dining experience here and you can tell that's the focus of this restaurant, the food isn't necessarily the shining star. Slightly limited menu. But it's a great place to for girl's night, date night, or a friends night out. It's small inside so prepare for a wait or make a reservation. Will return, but not in a hurry. read more

Wonderful authentic Mexican restaurant in Bronte. Highly recommend trying the flights of guacamole and salsas. We also had the steak tacos, chicken tacos and the amazing black beans. One of my fav places! Great for pictures and vibing out. The octopus tacos are my fav (seriously don't be afraid of octopus), the fish tacos are also great if you really like the taste of fish. I was a bit taken aback because I'm used to fish not tasting like fish (if you know, you know) but the fish tacos taste a lot like actualllll fish, which is not a bad thing but you would have to like fish to enjoy those :) Get the guac flight if you like guac, our server was so kind, he brought us extra chips after we quickly ate all of ours! it was good, ok and not great the atmosphere and design are really nice---great ambiance! hostess was friendly and nice and quick we went at ~2pm and there were quick a lot of people there including a large group. it was freezing inside, to the point that the ceiling vent pipes were condensating and dipped on us. we asked to move and bartender was pleasant about it the water glasses had a weird smell to them and which made the water taste soapy--we grabbed glasses from another table as I think they were changing over staff and there was no server for us the menu was a challenge to understand how to order some things---some guac and chips or chips and salsa were priced high. we did order and the food was good--lots of different flavours--the portions are moderate the pieces of bone in the chicken though were not enjoyable $70 inc tip for two meals and a beer though is definitely higher than we thought it was going to be for a little lunch on a Saturday it was interesting with some good, ok and not great so overall we wouldn't go back read more

Cocktails were good and easy to drink. Service was top notch as well. We sat on the patio which was very nice, and even checking out the inside of the restaurant was pretty cool too. The food was mediocre at best unfortunately. We shared the shrimp crevice to start which was dominated by black squid ink. Tasted ok nothing mind blowing. We had the chicken tinga and fish tacos. The corn tortillas were a bit hard on the edges and the chicken tacos were very bland and boring, almost no taste at all to them. The fish tacos were marginally better but not enough to save the meal. Food was pretty expensive for what you get and being outside Toronto I figured it would be a touch more competitive. Drinks actually were very reasonably priced though. So really I gave this place a decent grade because of the drinks, the ambiance and service. If I feel like coming back for a drink and a snack then sure. read more
