I had been counting down until PopUp Bagels opened in Cranston. I showed up before they opened for their grand opening, and their popularity was already palpable. They are super viral and popular online and it's not surprising that they already fit in perfectly into Garden City Center. They said freshly baked bagels in bags (the minimum is 3 bagels so it's not a place you'd go to buy a single bagel). They have a handful of basic but delicious bagel flavors. The schmears are where they really shine. In addition to their classic flavors, each week they have a special cream cheese and a special butter flavor. I tried this week's elote cream cheese and also a special local flavor their dropped for the grand opening, coffee milk. I was really impressed by everything I tried. I've lived in NYC and these were definitely the freshest bagels I've had (literally right out of the oven moments before). I am THRILLED to welcome PopUp Bagels to my neighborhood! Bagels are comforting and chewy - most deliciously enjoyed as soon as you get the bag. Went on a weekday midday and didn't have to wait to place an order. Clean interior. Price is a bit steep ($15 for 3 bagels and a schmear) given the bagels are on the slightly smaller side. Everything bagel coated on both sides and reminds me of homemade bagels. Salt bagel is a bit special to PopUp, and I see why it is a favorite / most popular. Worth a try - better than a standard bagel at say Dunkin or Panera when eaten fresh - you just tell me if the price tag is worth it! read more

It's been 84 years... For real though. I've lived in Portland, OR for 15+ years now and haven't found a bagel like the ones I get on the east coast, so while I'm home, I must get ALL THE BAGELS. PopUp's aren't NY bagels, let me start there, so if you're looking for one of those, you won't find it here, but these are really damn good bagels. So good in fact that I went twice in a 5 day span of time... sorry not sorry! So far, we've tried the everything & salt bagels and scallion & jalapeño popper cream cheeses and all have been fantastic. I love how the everything bagel is COATED in seasoning, and the salt bagel is absolutely perfect in its simplicity. I was fortunate to be able to enjoy both warm from the oven and it was heavenly! The jalapeño popper CC was my favorite of the two - no hate to the scallion - with a gentle heat that was tempered by the cream cheese itself. I hope it's still on the menu when I inevitably return before flying back to PDX next week. I SAID WHAT I SAID! The space itself is sweet - a little small, so I can see it getting cramped in less than great weather with people waiting, but it was perfectly fine on both days I went with less than a dozen people inside. I was helped right away on both days and left with my goodies in less than five minutes. I paid $15 for 3 bagels & a container of cream cheese, which is about comparable to what I pay in PDX or at a farmer's market, so I can't complain - it may seem high, but I'll pay for small store baked goods over large store bought, so... to each their own All in all, this looks to be a great addition to Garden City and I'm glad I was able to stop in while I was home! read more

Bagels and smears are good, but the good ends there really... Value is terrible, 3 bagels and 2 spreads ran us 28$. Bagels are small, and spread containers aren't worth 8 dollars per. This place recently opened in Garden City and I have been hearing great things, so I decided to check it out. I took my friend with me and between the both of us, ordered the three pack of bagels with a schmear for $15. You are allowed to mix and match bagel flavors. While deciding, the employee told us that salt is their most popular, which was a little surprising since it seems so boring. We gave it a shot and ordered 2 everything and 1 salt with chive schmear. In the few minutes we waited for our bagels to be ready, we noticed the cool wallpaper which was a collage of people enjoying their bagels. We were handed our little paper bag with warm bagels and a generous little tub of schmear. Since they did not have seating inside or outside, we walked to the gazebo in the center of Garden City where there are benches and a table. I loved that the everything bagel was completely covered and the toppings did not easily fall off. I do think these bagels were a little thicker and less wide than a traditional bagel, but since the idea is to grip, rip, and dip, the shape did not matter much. The everything bagel was very flavorful, albeit a little dry. I moved onto the salt bagel which was very delicious; I see why it is a favorite. The outside is crispy and the inside soft. The schmear had a whipped consistency which made it very easy to dip the bagels into. It had a generous amount of chive, which only helped to enhance the flavor. read more

Honestly the line was wild and I did not love the DJ at 8am, but beyond that I did find the bagels delicious. The employees were all incredibly friendly, the space is tiny, so it does make waiting for your bagel tight. Granted this was all opening day, so it was extra crazy. I will be back! read more

If you go in expecting NY quality bagels you are going to be disappointed. And it's not their fault. A NY bagels is so good because of the water supply. After i took a step back and realized it wasn't a Ny bagel, I was okay. The bagels are hot and fresh and good for New England. I got the specialty coffee milk cream cheese. It needed more flavor and needed to be more creamy. The shop is very cute, but it's grab and go. Staff was amazing---for their first day they already have the process and how they serve you down to an art. Pricing was high. I can see why this chain is loved and is a big deal. But I'm a Ny bagel girly, and this just didn't hit the NY bagel and cream cheese quality. If you're from RI or MA you'll love this. But it was a bit of a miss for this native NY gal. read more

Finally was able to make my way there. The bagels are fresh, warm and soft! It def lived up to the hype. It was super packed when they had their grand opening last week but it's starting to settle just a bit now I think. I got 3 bagels and a jar of cream cheese for about 16-19 bucks which I think is reasonable. I'll be going there regularly. read more

Parking is plenty with light walking and only 2 tables and some outdoor seating. You can order ahead or wait in line with the orders being quickly filled and little wait time. Comes with an order or 3,6 or 12 bagels that can be mixed and matched~ there's also interesting spreads like the elote cream cheese which I ordered. My friend and I shared an order of three and were happy that our bagels were warm, soft and freshly out of the oven! These are THE best bagels I've ever had, with delicious flavorful spread or elote tote with pieces of corn inside. I loved how the carton was ready to go, and was plenty of spread! I brought it home straight to the fridge and ready for more bagels! I focused too much on my hunger and forgot the pictures~ Will come again! read more

Did not get the hype. I have never had an everything bagel so flavorless in my life. It was only a little better with the Cacio Pepe butter. Had to wait about 10 min for bagels to be baked-not a big deal at all so I did try it fresh out of the oven. Hate the minimum requirement of 3- what if you are solo and just want a bagel? The app also is not great-on it you can only preorder large quantities with a minimum of a dozen. It's a one and done for me- stars for freshness and friendliness of the staff. read more

I went in to buy a dozen and asked not to get the two "schmears," which were listed as included on the menu. They didn't appear to deduct any dollar value from the order for not including the cream cheese. When I asked for one bagel with cream cheese, I was quickly told, "We don't do that!" $46 for a dozen bagels seems expensive, almost $4 each. Also, they have a three-bagel minimum, which is not very accommodating for individuals. Talk about not being customer-friendly! This place embodies the "our way or the highway" mindset. I can't review the bagels because I left without buying any. So the two-star rating is just a reflection of the store's policies, prices, and unhelpful attitude. I wish them good luck. Others seem to like their product, but they could improve by being more flexible and customer-friendly. read more

OK, the bagels are just OK. It's more like having a piece of bread and it doesn't have a lot of flavor. Service was great people were friendly. The ambience is fun, but if I'm getting a bagel, I'm going to bagel gourmet in Providence they're crispy they're chewy and the smear is better over there also. read more
