I had the opportunity to dine on Super Bowl Sunday at Pop's Smoke Shack. My friend, who lives in NWA with me, is a huge fan of Pop's and invited my husband and I to go. Pop's had all the brats, hotdogs, wings & chili you could eat for $10 per person. This price also included soda or tea and desserts. I really like this place! The meat was exceptionally good. I am a firm believer that really good smoked meat does not need barbecue. It is ok if you want to put a little barbecue on smoke meat, but the smoked meat should be good enough that it doesn't need it. Pop's wings were incredible. I ate 5-6 and never put one drip of sauce on them! The brats and chili were good too! I can't wait to go back and eat off the regular menu! I also really do want to try their sauces. They had some interesting flavors. What I loved most about Pop's Smoke Shack was the service. This is a family owned business, and they make you feel like you are a part of their family! So this was MY first visit to Pop's Smoke Shack. A couple weeks ago however, I did send someone to Pop's to get some burnt ends to put into My wife's special BBQ Beans and the owner was offended we were planning to chop them into little pieces for the beans. I could understand because they were damn good. So good I decided to go in this time and order some rib ribs. He was doing baby backs, but I gotta tell you these were the biggest meatiest baby bags I have ever seen and they were fall off the bone tender. You could tell they had been smoked for hours because they were pink in the middle at the even though they were fall off the bone tender. He does not sauce his ribs. They have a nice rub on them, and then he has half a dozen homemade sauces to choose from that are delicious. Sorry I didn't think about doing a review and taking pictures until I was halfway in, but they were amazing and deserved a five star rating. For sides we had carrots and a whiskey, honey with baked beans, which were very nice. The green beans were OK a little soft for my taste, but it was the end of the night so I guess I could understand. We were already planning for next time when guests are coming down to get two racks and some burnt ends. May have to try the wings next time too. I definitely prefer and recommend Pop's Smoke Shack vs. Dana's anytime. Haven't tried the other local spots cause we "Q" pretty well ourselves when down. But Pops is definitely worth a visit when in Branson West. read more

Both the guys working there were so nice and friendly, while the food was amazing! I had the 2 meat plate with burnt ends and chicken, while my fiancée had the pulled pork and brisket. We are from the Kansas City metro so we've had a lot of bbq and I can honestly say theirs is top tier quality. They don't sleep on the sides or sauces either! We shared our sides to maximize options: the Mac n cheese was well spiced and flavorful. The same can be said for the potato salad. The cucumbers n onions were so refreshing and the green beans were so flavorful. We also tried multiple of the in house made sauces. The sweet mustard sauce and the garlic sauce were perfect on the chicken, while their shake sauce ( original) was delicious on anything. I liked the peach bourbon sauce but it is strong to warn you. We are new to the area and would pass by Pop's Smoke Shack several times a week while checking out different places to eat. Finally stopped in a few weeks ago and wow! We found our favorite restaurant and it's Pop's. The food is amazing and the meals are perfectly proportioned. I love the brisket and hubby loves the pulled pork. All the sides are yummy but the Kellybeans are fantastic. The pricing was reasonable and the service...well we haven't found better service anywhere. They make you feel at home and welcomed. My husband got our order to go and brought it home. The food smelled good but the meat tasted like lighter fluid, especially the burnt ends. They put cucumber in the coleslaw. The Mac n cheese was beyond weird and don't even get me started on the potato salad! Being so close to Dana's Barbecue you'd think they would try a little harder. We spent $130 on piss poor food and that pisses me off. The only thing I enjoyed were the corn muffins. First time, but had heard great things. We decided to give it a try. I travel for work and I have eaten BBQ countless times, all over the US. I got the three meat sampler with ribs, pork, and brisket. I heard them say I got the last order of brisket, and I believe it...it was fatty remnants. The ribs were solid and so was the chicken. Pops has some of the tastiest barbeque I've ever tasted! I had the one meat platter which comes with 3 sides and a corn muffin. I chose the brisket which was tender and delicious. Pops has a variety of sauces but the meat has such good flavor, sauces aren't required. I ate 1/3 of the brisket before I thought to take the picture...you get a generous serving. I chose the beans, potato salad and Mac and cheese for my sides. They were all delicious! Then I got a slice of one of their incredible cheese cakes to take home for later. Great meal for a decent price! The place is small but has nice outdoor seating as well. The folks there could not possibly be more friendly and welcoming! Pop's Smoke Shack has some of the best BBQ I have found since I moved from Kansas City! I frequently get their Brisket Sandwich. Pop's does sandwiches a bit different. Instead of a bun or bread they use a warm Pita. I admit I was skeptical at first, but it's amazing. The pita holds up while eating, sauce a little or a lot, you don't have the normal messy sandwich. The brisket is tender and delicious. I highly recommend the Pulled Pork Nachos (you gotta ask for them as they are not on the menu) Their pulled pork is tender and juicy and so good just by itself. All of their sides are homemade and delicious and I feel unique. I like them all! Kelly Beans are a mixture of different beans simmered in a sauce that would be great just by itself. Regina's Coleslaw is just yummy. All of the recipes are Pop's family recipes and best of all you can tell. Their cheesecake is a must. I have called ahead, in the morning to reserve my slice as it goes fast! nothing worse then thinking about it all day to find you are too late! The flavors rotate and have never disappointed. Pops also is community oriented. From Football watch parties to the Big Game party (which was so much fun btw). To the neighbors helping neighbors wall where if you are going through tough times due to Covid19 a meal is available for you. I am so happy Pop's is here, the staff is welcoming and friendly. The rock music takes me back several years and makes dining room relaxed and enjoyable. You will not leave hungry. You will be stuffed to the brim. Was good once, kept going back but food is not consistent. Best Pastrami ever but the last time I ordered it, it was three slices the size of a half piece of bacon on buttered toast for almost $10. Wings have been great but the last time I ordered them, they were so tough that most of each one couldn't be eaten. My order of cucumbers and onions consisted of five thin slices of cucumbers and a few slivers of onions in a cup full of juice! They can't maintain quality or even quantity ....very low but their prices are high. Went in today and was totally ignored while the girl answered a lot of questions for a catering job. She never acknowledged me except to look up and when I said Hi, she told me she couldn't add and talk at the same time. I waited so long, I finally left. After thinking about everything that happened during that visit and my previous three, I thought I should call the Owner to let them know what I have experienced. I spoke to the daughter who was extremely rude and, come to find out, she was the very person I finally called to complain about! She was full of excuses, told me that she hopes I find a restaurant I like and hung up on me! Unbelievable treatment from an establishment in business to serve the public. None of this was a big deal to me until the daughter made it that way. It's a shame that her attitude will run off countless customers that her parents work very hard to please. I have heard good things of this place for a long time and finally tried it. The drink prices are good and the nacho appetizer was ok. The place seems unorganized as no one greeted or told us what to do. After seating ourselves I figured out it was a wait on yourself place. This business moved recently to the Kimberling City shopping center. They do a great business. Seating inside is limited to maybe fifty people, but they used a large patio out back of the business. They meats are very tender, and the sauce is available in several ways. Drinks are mostly in bottles, but a few fountain drinks also now available. Great cheesecake for after the meal. Two meat dinners with three sides are more food then most need, but you can always take some home. read more
