Crawfish grits

Ya'll. This place is LEGIT. We put it in maps and we thought we were in the middle of nowhere but let me tell you, it's worth it. I had the gumbo and the hubs had the sirloin. We started with the crawfish grits. Everything was super flavorful and beyond delish. Totally exceeded our expectations.

We have been waiting so long to try this place! Hubby & I picked this as one of our destination restaurants while on Christmas break as it's kinda far away from our farmhouse, like 3 1/2 hours away. So, we finally got to try it & boy was it worth the wait!!! The "Pops crawfish grits" was everything you want in a lightly spicy creamy crawfish sauce & the white "grits" or "creamy polenta" that comes with it, are creamy dreamy yumminess on a plate! GET IT! :)... LOVE LOVE LOVE this dish! We even got one to go! In fact, we loved it so much we even got it as a side to top our steaks !!! And the STEAKS are WOZA! Hubby got the ribeye, he said it was the best steak he has ever had. The sides were even amazballs! We both got the twice baked potatoes they were really good, with a really great flavor. Hubby got grilled broccoli & I got grilled asparagus. BOTH were grilled to perfection. That is my biggest complaint usually. Restaurants that can't make veggies correctly. No worries here, both our veggies were cooked perfectly. YUM! :)... Moi got the filet mignon with the twice cooked potatoes & grilled asparagus & a side of the crawfish sauce to top it with. Best dish of my LIFE!!! :)... My filet mignon was a giant hand cut baseball size "french cut" it was charred so beautifully on the outside and it was completely medium perfection on the inside!! The flavor of the mesquite char was Outstanding! We go to a LOT of steak houses and this was the best steak I have had. The best dinner we have had. Completely flawless. A perfect dinner! A "flamboyance" of flavor! LOVED the healing spirit of the Pink Flamingos EVERYWHERE! The Best Flamingo Christmas tree I have ever seen! The service was excellent, everyone so friendly! The martinis ROCKED! LOVE all the healing Flamingos! The Best Christmas dinner EVER, can't wait to return! My new Favorite Restaurant! Highest recommendations.

Took the wife out for birthday dinner and it was absolutely awesome. The service was great and the food was incredible every bit as good as New Orleans!!!

Great hangout and funky cool atmosphere. We found this place based on reviews. Food was excellent and fresh. We got a few complimentary items which was a nice treat only because we were first time customers. Definitely worth the 2 hour drive.

Trying to find a restaurant that is good when you are out of town is a gamble, but this gamble paid off when we walked into Pops Place. It doesn't look like much on the outside, but when you walk in they have Christmas lights inside and it opens up to a large seating area. Also an outdoors seating area if you want to hangout and sit by the fire. The service was great! Our waiter checked in on us multiple times. Took great care of us. Appetizer: the chips and salsa taste so good! The salsa is homemade! Entrees: Smartinis chicken sandwich - Grilled chicken with bacon, avocado, lettuce, tomato and chipotle mayo served with our fresh-fried potato chips. Has a bit of a kick! 5/5 Mesquite grilled chicken breast - you have three marinades to choose from teriyaki, lemon-pepper or Italian. Wife opted for teriyaki and loved it. 5/5 Bacon wrapped filet mignon - grandparents loved every bite! You get two sides to choose from. If you are driving through or staying the night. I highly recommend checking this place out!

The staff were more than friendly and knew their craft beers! We tried some new flavors and were made undeniable fans. I ordered a plate of Duck Fat Fries. This is a total game changer! Even more so, dipping them golden fried sticks in Truffle Mayo... as Buford T. Justice would say... SUMBITCH. And that homemade ketchup? So good it made me want to go smack Junior's mama. We also ordered the Crawfish Dip. It was disgustingly scrumpdidallyumtious!!! Pure flavor profile explosion in my mouth. Never had anything like that before. My wife and I also decided to split a Smash Burger and that thick cut bacon with juicy beef patties... damn. One of the most memorable and satisfying experiences I've ever had, and I haven't even talked about the drinks. My eyes sparkled when I seen a Toasted Pecan Old Fashioned on the menu. A must try. ER MA GAWD!!! One of the best I've ever had... everrrrrr! We also ordered the Cinn-Full Cran Hard Cider by Locust... I now have to find this... just have to! My FIL ordered an ice cream treat with three spoons... lol. Everyone had to give it a try. We ended up ordering a growler of the State Street Blonde to go, and it lasted a day. Unbelievable. I'm heartbroken the place is closed, but will forever leave an impression of Texarkana for me. Thank you! As always, Enjoy & Happy Road-tripping!!

While passing through on a road trip, my local friend recommended Pecan Point and I'm glad I went. Located in downtown, you'll find free street parking in front of the restaurant. We were greeted as soon as we entered and the inside is spacious and casual. I ordered the raspberry Chipotle smash burger ($16), peach cobbler, and a flight of beer and cider ($10). What made this burger stand out was the raspberry Chipotle sauce and fried jalapeños! The flight includes four 4oz pours of any draught and mine were Irish red ale, Pecan Pointe ale, bock beer, and apple cider. The Irish red was my favorite and the Pecan Pointe my least. I would have liked the cobbler to be a little more crunchy, but was still enjoyable. I recommend and will visit again when in town.

Existing. At first it was cool. I met a couple of young guys. Super nice. Totally normal human interaction. We talked. It was fine. No problems. Excellent. Then they left. And, uh... yeah. Everything got weird. Like... record scratch weird. No bartender came over. No eye contact. No "hey man, what can I get you?" Just a lot of standing and looking past me like I was a ghost or maybe a very calm ghost. I tried to make casual conversation, because that's what people do in bars. And suddenly the room felt tense. Like I had accidentally walked into a staff meeting or a crime scene. At some point it hit me. Oh. They think I'm a cop. Not because I did anything. But because I was standing upright. And sober. And aware. Which, apparently, after 11 pm here is suspicious behavior. For the record, I am not law enforcement. I am just a guy who is cold and trying to hear music. I wasn't kicked out. I wasn't served. I was just... ignored. Like if they pretended I didn't exist long enough, I might fade away. So I left. Nothing dramatic happened. It was just awkward. Uncomfortable. And kind of impressive in a sad way. I walked into a bar and accidentally became a vibe check the place failed itself. This might work great for regulars or a younger crowd earlier in the night. But if you are a grown adult who knows how to behave in public, you may suddenly find yourself labeled "possibly undercover." Party on. I guess.

Decided on the wedge salad and the Baja Tacos. Not sure what was going on in the kitchen but my tacos are delivered to my table BEFORE the salad, when I asked about the salad the lady said it should be out "soon" {sigh}. A few minutes later the salad arrives while I was looking disappointedly at the tacos. I even asked Abby if this was the normal amount of meat provided on the tacos and she said yes...oh well. Salad was OK, a bit drowned in Blue Cheese dressing but it was an OK salad. The tacos...totally missed the mark. They were supposed to be "3 flour tortillas filled with grilled & blackened red fish, topped with slaw and cilantro cream". There was basically one "fish nugget"...inadequate, the "blackened" was more like tanned so no blackened flavors, while the cilantro cream didn't do anything to improve the dish. I guess I could have sent it back but I combined one into the other two to make them a bit more like a meal. Service from Abby was good, but overall not a huge fan of this meal.

She just stared at us as we walked in, no welcome, and not a single bit of souther hospitality that I expect from a small town establishment. The food was superb, though! My husband and I both ordered the wedge salad and the chicken capres. The chicken was sous-vide with cherry tomatoes, spinach, mozzarella cheese, balsamic glaze, and fresh basil. Plus it was gluten free! Omg, the most tender and juicy chicken I think I've ever had! I chose the grilled okra as my side and I was not disappointed. The Twisted fork is a great, laid-back place for some classic southern-inspired food!
