Yummy everything...well at least everything I have tried lol. I found out about this place over 5 years ago, and been a regular ever since. Not only the food is good, it is inexpensive. I usually get the small grilled chicken salad with no tomatoes and olives. You also may want to let them know light onions, because they do pack those on pretty heavy. It is under 5 bucks and do not let the word "small" fool you, because it is plenty!!! It is small on the inside, so I wouldn't recommend dining in if you have a big party. Pops is an overall nice spot for good hot grub. Gave 4 stars because of plaza parking . Food is cooked to order and fresh EVERY time. Phillies,hotdogs, cold cuts etc at your disposal. They even have home made potato chips lol. Customer service is always good and friendly. read more

The house made chips are amazing, whatever seasoning they put on them is fire. Surprised they don't package and sell these things by the bag. The steak philly was really good and had great flavor, but to me it's kind of more like Chicago Beef sandwich. Seem like they use more of a roast beef style meat than a chopped up philly meat. Based on positive Yelp reviews, I ordered a 6in. chicken philly with everything except mayo. It was delicious! I was visiting so this place definitely goes on my top 3 list for places to eat the next time I'm in the area. The sandwich was packed full of goodness. The price was $5.99 plus tax. Busy place. I got there around 11:45 and already a busy crowd which is usually always good. Sounded like a lot are regulars and I can see why. Great selection on the menu. I went with the lamb gyro and fries combo. Hint-don't get the Lipton lemon tea. If you are souther you will know why. It's like golfing without clubs. If you ain't going to do it right just don't do it at all. Anyway, the gyro tasted great and had a really good potion of meat unlike some larger chains or Mediterranean places in Memphis. Dressed really well but may want to ask for more sauce next time. Looking at other orders, all of the sandwiches look really good. A definite return place. read more

My favorite hidden gem in Memphis. I have never tried anything here that I haven't liked. My favorite is the chicken gyro... no wait it's the homemade chips.... actually make it the Cheeseburger sub! You get the idea. (seriously though, you HAVE to try the chips, they are divine.) If I'm wanting to pick up dinner on my way home from work, I often wait until I'm halfway there because they generally only take around 15 minutes to get it ready. They moved a few stores down a while back, giving them a larger eat in area which is great as well. If you're lucky you'll see Pop himself there when you stop by, I've even seen a certain Grizzly player there a time or two. Luckily for me, Pop's is not to far from home, if the location is out of your normal stomping grounds though, I can promise you won't regret your trip out here. read more

So I have been wanting to try Pop's Deli for the longest!!! Today I realized that I work within minutes from the Deli, so I stopped by. Upon entering, I was immediately greeted by staff. I placed a to go order. I ordered a Philly Cheese Steak Sandwich and homemade chips. The price was affordable and the food was made quickly. As I drove home, I couldn't wait to eat my food as it smelled amazing. As soon as I got home, I devoured my sandwich. I will say it has to be one of the best Philly cheese steak sandwiches I have ever eaten. Plus the homemade chips tasted great. The best culinary find in Memphis. Completely unexpected location--in a strip mall somewhere on Shelby between Kirby and Riverdale--yet quite possibly the best deal outside the 240 loop in Memphis. All the specialty sandwiches are excellent and unique. I don't get why so many deli-style places limit themselves to cold cuts. The Chilean, Philly, and Gyro here are all on point and as delicious as the other reviews make them out to be. The chips are addictive and taste like they were made with actual potatoes. Love the seasoning on them too. Best of all, service is nice, they encourage you to call in your orders (recommended as they do cook them there and it can take a bit), and the prices are excellent. read more

Decent spot for lunch. I regret not ordering a burger. Had the chicken tenders and they were ok. Very limited healthy options, and by limited I mean none. Off the beaten path; unless you live or work in that part of town it's kind of out-of-the-way. I wasn't overly impressed, but to be fair I'm going to go back and try a burger. The Chilean sandwich may be the best sandwich in Memphis, no joke. I was in the area for a training class and wanted to give some outside-of-the-loop restaurants a shot for lunch, to see what all the poor schlubs who work out there have to deal with on a daily basis. The other two places I ate at were decent, but Pop's, my god, Pop's, I'd eat here every day if I could. It's a counter service place with about 8 or so 4 tops and about 6 stools at a little makeshift bar. You order your food, get your drink, and try to grab an empty table or make some friends. We waited about 10 minutes for our food, and the place was packed. They call the order out and you walk up and get it. I had the Chilean and the house-made chips (American, not British). They were crispy with a spicy salt on them and all around awesome. The Chilean looked small, I was a little worried, but when I picked half of it up, it weighed about a pound. It's a ciabatta roll with cooked-down green pepper and it has some kind of sauce on it and I really didn't take good mental notes because I was in an orgasmic state of delight. It's really that good. My friend, Jennifer Biggs, food writer for the Commercial Appeal, someone who I trust when it comes to food advice. So when she tells me that Pop's Deli is worth the drive, I believed her. The trip from our house to Pop's took almost 40 minutes, but from first bite, my husband, Tom, and I realized that it was so worth it. Based on Jennifer's recommendation, I went for the Chilean sandwich, a hearty conglomeration of thinly sliced beef, guacamole, marinated string beans, tomatoes, Meunster cheese and Chilean hot sauce on a ciabatta bun. It sounds like it shouldn't work at all, but it was one of the most delicious and innovative sandwiches I've ever eaten. Tom had the Pop's famous philly cheesesteak (traditional) and added lettuce and tomato (less traditional). The portions were huge. You could definitely get two generous servings out of one sandwich. Friendly tip: spring the extra $2 for the homemade chips. You'll thank me. They also serve hamburgers, chicken tenders, hot dogs, hot wings and an apparently delicious gyro (which is on my list for my next visit). I've had Pop's Deli bookmarked for too long and I finally was in the area for lunch and wow! Why in the world did I wait for this?!? I've been craving a really good Philly Cheesesteak for some time but the choices around Memphis just aren't that great. Well, my cravings were answered at Pop's. That was one of the best Philly Cheesesteaks I've ever had. Tender and messy and oh so delicious! And those house made chips! Gotta love them! I ordered the beef Chilean sandwich & my husband ordered the pop's famous philly. the beef chilean sandwich was delicious. tender, flavorful thin sliced steak pieces, muenster cheese, guacomole, marinated string beans, tomatoes, chilean hot sauce on a toasted ciabatta bread. sooo flavorful! and not spicy at all, although i wouldn't have minded if it was a little spicy. my husband's sandwhich was delicious as well but we both liked mine better since it was on a toasted bread. he complained his was a little oily and had the nerve to say quizo's sandwiches are better. but i totally disagree. he is picky and can be weird w/ food sometimes. definitely the best philly steak sandwich here in memphis. & those chips are addicting! some crispy and soft pieces were just too good! w/ an order of 1 chilean sandwich, a 12" philly, combo w/ chips and drink, and an extra order of chips...cost us around $24. which is kind of expensive. but the sandwiches are big & full of flavor and totally worth it. read more

The Chilean on ciabatta was good but perhaps too many flavors going on for my simple palate to discern. I might try it again when I am less distracted (blaming on my dining companion). Brisk lunch crowd for dine in and carry out. Tried the regular philly cheese steak with homemade chips and tea. The chips are crispy and less greasy than store bagged variety. Peculiar seasoning. The sandwich was good, as the toppings and meat were nicely balanced. No Pats or Genos, but satisfying nevertheless. The tea had a bit of a tangy taste, but it's the type of aftertaste a good cleaning of the reservoir and spigot wouldn't get rid of. I'll come back again. read more

Most awesome and tasty sandwiches and subs in Tennessee. The prices are amazing, and since I'm here for training, I didn't have that much money. My meals including sub, fries, and chips were less than ten bucks. I've had the Chilean, the Gyro, and the Philly Cheese burgers double patty. The burger was 1 lb. of beef. I couldn't even finish it, but it was oh so tasty. And let's not forget the customer service. The staff is super awesome and helpful, and Pops himself is just too classy. Pops went out of his way to invite the hotel shuttle driver in and even gave her a free sub because he's that freakin awesome. I've been going around spreading the word about Pop's all week now. Top class customer service, top class foods, and insanely affordable prices. Can't beat that! read more

The philly cheesesteak is a score. Don't dare venture in and not leave out with one. It was so good. I don't know what they seasoned this gem of a sandwich with, but they should stick with it. Melty, gooey, deliciously cheesy, hot, freshly served up goodness. Me and my uncle shared it - though I certainly ate more than he did. He ordered the Italian and also tried the Chilean Chicken...hands down, the Philly won for him. The Chilean Chicken was my second favorite. The sandwich had green beans on it! I had to do a double take. But alas, my eyes did not deceive me...green beans. It was delicious. My aunt - who can be one tough cookie to please I think - ordered the Chicken Club. She was expecting deli slices of chicken but the sandwich consisted of grilled chicken like the Chilean. Despite the difference, she really enjoyed it. I had my fingers secretly crossed that she would. I didn't try the Italian, but it looked pretty darn tasty and my uncle finished it all. The menu consists of 6" or 12" sandwiches, salads, burgers (turkey or beef), hot dogs, and even meat and cheese sold by the pound. The staff were friendly enough. Pop's moved two doors down from the original place. It has more tables and chairs. Much bigger!! I had to stop by for lunch to try the "Chilean" and it did not disappoint at all. It had so much flavor, my palate was confused; green beans on your sandwich is not suppose to be mixed in but it was an awesome idea. It was quite delectable. And you know you have to get the fresh potato chips with your sandwich. Since it is a new place, you actually have elbow room now and a place to sit. Excellent. I've been here twice and ordered the footlong Philly an chicken Chilean. 1) Philly = not the best Philly in Memphis. The good: 1) the value- for $10, you can't go wrong for a footlong juicy beef cheesesteak. 2) everything inside the bread is delicious. The bad: the bread is awful. It's untoasted, dry, and not even heated up I think. It's also a pretty large price of bread which I hate. Nothing is worse than a cheesesteak with a lot of unwanted dry bread. 2) Chicken Chilean Reuben = a home run. Absolutely delicious. Everything on it is incredible. Only complaint is that it's a bit small for my massive appetite. Get the Reuben! read more

I want expecting much for this place, but omg this takes the cake! I had a Cajun turkey Philly steak, which was the best philly ever (but in Memphis). They also make this awesome homemade chips that gave me a bit of the happy spell. The owner is clearly not from around town because her Mediterranean flare is evident in the Greek salad and gyro options. I'd say this is the only healthy option in town; and a must go to for a bite for lunch or casual dinner. Well done! read more
