Well now...let me help some of y'all out because apparently half of Mississippi is driving right…read morepast one of the best BBQ joints around and doesn't even know it! This little place is tucked away off Lakeland Drive, down from Schlotzsky's in that little white shopping center. Blink twice and you'll miss it...and that'd be a crying shame. First things first...that Smash Burger. Son...I about slapped myself just to make sure I wasn't dreaming! I'm telling y'all right now, it's the best smash burger I've ever put in my mouth, and I ain't taking that statement back. Now let's discuss these Trashed Ribs. Sweet baby Jesus riding a smokehouse...WHOEVER came up with these deserves a parade! They are so doggone good they'll make you want to hug the pitmaster. The baked beans? Mercy! If Grandma made beans this good, half the family would've never left home. Best baked beans I've ever eaten, and that's saying something because I've been eating my way across Mississippi for a long time. Now I'll admit, I'm a mustard potato salad fella. Always have been. But even though theirs isn't my usual style, I'd eat a five-gallon bucket of it without apologizing to anybody. The brisket sandwich? Lawd have mercy! Tender enough you don't hardly need teeth. And that Brisket Philly Cheesesteak? If you order it, don't make plans afterward because you're gonna need a nap and probably a testimony. The folks working there couldn't be nicer if they tried. The waitress treats you like you've been neighbors for twenty years, keeps your drink full, and makes you feel right at home. That's the kind of Southern hospitality folks are always talking about. So quit fooling around with the same ol' drive-thrus and chain restaurants. Gas up the truck, tell your wife you're "running an errand," and head over there. Your stomach will be happier than a tick on a hound dog. Y'all can thank me later...but don't tell too many people. I'd still like to find a parking spot!

I walked into this barbecue storefront hoping for that familiar comfort of smoke, heat, and messy,…read morefinger-staining flavor. Instead, what I got felt like an afterthought. The ribs were cold, which took away any chance of enjoying them the way they should be: tender and piping hot with that kiss of smoke. Without that, it was just tough meat on a bone. I will say the rub was flavorful, but it couldn't help the toughness. Also got a beef sausage with onions and while the snap of the casing was pronounced, the insides were cold and bland as well. Barbecue sauce is usually the soul of a place like this, something that tells you the story of the pitmaster and their craft. Here, there was no story, just packets of Kraft BBQ sauce. It felt impersonal, like the heart of the place was missing. The sides didn't step in to rescue things either. The potato salad and baked beans tasted like they came straight from a grocery store container, unseasoned and uninspired. When the main event falls flat, the sides should at least give you a reason to come back, but they didn't. I wanted this spot to be a hidden gem, the kind of place you recommend to friends when they ask for local flavor. Instead, it was the kind of meal you forget as soon as you walk out the door, and that's the real disappointment.
