We ate here after church and the place was buzzing! We got seated quickly and the food choices were excellent. Our server was on top of our order and it was exactly perfect! read more

This place is a piece of my childhood. Is it as good as it was years ago? Maybe? A little. It's hard to give a very recent review because every time we want to eat there, they are closed. The burger is pretty good. Crinkle fries are cooked crispy. Pork steak has always been a winner but it's pricey. I tend to grill mine at home because that hurts my feelings. Their mop sauce is so good it's drinkable. It's an old building. Clean but could be cleaner. Nice servers. Took a star for never being open. Sorry not sorry read more

Happened upon Louise BBQ by chance while on a road trip. The service was quick, attentive and polite. It has a "joint" vibe which we love. The side dishes were amazing. Fried okra was spot on, sweet potato casserole was perfect, cream corn was like my aunt used to make. SO these are the reasons I gave it 2 stars. But it's billed as a BBQ joint - so I ordered the pork. HUGE disappointment. What I got was little cubes of dry, over cooked bbq pork absolutely drowned in BBQ sauce. The whole dish had a burnt taste, not a "burnt ends" kind of taste but just burnt BBQ sauce like it had burned in the warming pan. I really wish I had remembered to take a photo of the pork, it looked like BBQ soup. My wife had the BBQ chicken and that was better, great taste and a lot of chicken for the price but a little dry. Perhaps I should have tried the Port Steak that everyone raves about but my first time in a BBQ restaurant I try the BBQ and this was a disappointment. read more

First I called and called until I finally went up there and ordered a chicken breast and wing plate with onion rings and baked beans. I only live 3.5 miles from the BBQ pit but when I got home the beans were cold and the chicken was the smallest I've ever seen and dry as a bone and the onion rings were cold and soggy I've tried calling them to complain but apparently their phone is not working I just want my money back at this point read more

Louise Open Pit Barbeque - BBQ Chicken - Barbeque Near Me - Crystal Springs, Mississippi

This is good bbq. I've been eating here since I was about 5 or 6, way back when they had the screened in smoking area. They have good simple bbq, the service is sometimes slow, but it is worth the wait. read more

Food is always great. Pork steak is the best anywhere. Sauce is great on anything. Not much that isn't good.

I thought I had eaten the worst bbq before, but I was wrong. This place is the worst! The only saving grace was the salad. We got the chopped beef, salad, and fried onion rings. For my plate it was $10 and my husband got the chopped beef sandwich with the side salad and onion rings. The chopped beef came all mixed in with barbeque sauce. It did not look fresh at all. We definitely will not be going back. read more

when offering over the phone they do not listen well i repeated my order twice and she said it back to me yet it was still all wrong! I love this place so i just wanted to call back to inform them but i was left with no answer with a hour till close! HIGHLY disappointed with the supper i purchased tonight! read more

If you want great BBQ this is the place to go.it's an unassuming little place & I love the relaxed atmosphere. They also sell their wonderful sauce because it'ts delicious on everything. The servers always have a smile for you & make you feel welcome. Once you're seated, the server is at your table. We've never been able to make it through our appetizers before our meal is ready. Try this place. You'll love it! read more

Warning....Warning.....Warning. Do not eat at this place. I have had better everything at a "BBQ" restaurant from the frozen food section in Sav-a-lot. It's been a long time since I have been here, but how disgusting can a place be. To start out with it took 30 minutes to get a sandwich, baked beans, and tea to go. I opened the box up to take a picture, and was floored. When I unwrapped the sandwich, it had a god awful amount of sauce on the meat (I use the term meat very loosely. It more resembled charcoal), and there was more off the bun than on the sandwich. There was 4 times the slaw (store bought and old) than there was meat. My Where 2 Q friends this was an all time pitiful for someone in the business of selling BBQ. Plain and simple, it sucked!!!! 0/10 The beans were almost as bad. 2/10. Again, I try to be positive, but when a BBQ joint is so bad that I can't eat 1/2 of the sandwich, and almost none of the beans, stay away from here. It is really that bad. I hope you enjoy "your" Q!!!!! read more

Louise Open Pit Barbeque - a hamburger and beans - Barbeque Near Me - Crystal Springs, Mississippi

We stopped off in Crystal Springs MS to attend Mass after getting off the cruise ship in NOLA. THE FOOD WAS WONDERFULLY GOOD! Try the sauce. We put it on everything. We each had the pork steak platter and the list of available sides was items we don't get at home in a restaurant, that tastes home cooked! Lima Beans, baked sweet potatoes, fried okra, purple hull peas, English peas, broccoli casserole, hash brown casserole, rutabaga... read more

I rarely find a place where I just can't eat what I ordered but this was it. Ordered the combo plate with sausage and pork, sides of coleslaw and potato salad. Iced The was watery and the rolls cold. Potato salad was swimming in mayo. The coleslaw was ok. My pork was drowning in bbq sauce and the sausage was greasy with too much sage. The service was good though, thus the second star. read more

The BBQ sauce had some zing and so did the little old lady behind the lunch counter plating orders! I had the chopped pork plate with baked beans and potato salad. I would have given them five stars but the pork was a little on the tough side. Other than that, I loved it. The service was speedy and friendly and the price easy on the wallet. read more

I am driving down to Nee Orleans from Yankee country, but as one with southern roots Yelp didn't steer me wrong. This is a great hole-in-the-wall southern BBQ. GET THE FRIED PORK STEAKS WITH CLEAR (BBQ) SAUCE. The food is filling and tasty. The staff (all female grom what i see) is very friendly and exude the southern hospitality well. The waitress didn't ask what I wanted to drink, but rather asked if I wanted sweet tea. The facility is old and run down and there are harsh fluorescent lighting, but I dont care. We're full and satified. read more

I like Louise's lunch plate specials. Usually it is a pork chop, choices of veggies, roll or cornbread. I am from the South and appreciate having a place to go to get some good basic home cooking. For veggies I generally choose black-eyed peas and turnip greens. It is hard to make a batch of either of those for one or two people, so having a place to go and order them is wonderful!!! I think highly enough of Louise's that I chose it as the last American restaurant to take my daughter to before she flew to China for two years! The acoustics are terrible - the lunchtime crowd voices seem to all bounce off the ceiling right back at you which makes conversation at your own table difficult. I go there for the the food, not for conversation with a friend. And sometimes, the crowd looks like a gathering of "Angry White Men" which makes me feel uncomfortable. But the food is still good. Checking out has always been easy and fast which I appreciate! read more

This is one of the non-chain places located in Crystal Springs. It is right off of the Interstate and HWY 27 and is a better option than others. The place looked a little rundown from the outside and in, but the food tasted fresh and vibrant. It was definitely a no thrills experience, but it seemed like a popular place with the locals, which is always a good sign. read more

After further travel, I cannot recommend the squash dressing if you are on a road trip. You are warned...

Disappointing as this was recommended to me by someone who normally knows great BBQ. The sauce was OK, but he chopped pork was swimming in it. Sweet with little to no heat. Cole slaw was great! Fries were cold. Friend had the sausage and it was done right. I might give it another go down the road. read more

My friends and I ate here on the way to NOLA. You can smell the BBQ pit from the parking lot. Excellent ribs and catfish! For a road trip stop, this place was super satisfying and had very reasonable prices. read more

The best barbeque around, hands down. The ribs at this place is like no other. Their homemade special barbeque sauce is the magical touch.

Remember it's barbecue, not fancy just sticky good. Chicken is great! Ribs are an inferior cut but tasty. The coleslaw is among the best I've ever had, even the tea is great. They have daily "Blue Plate Specials" and the chicken livers were a real surprise, if you enjoy chicken livers as I do. We just sampled them this trip. The service is down home fun and helpful. We will surely stop again on our way to Jackson. Give them a try. read more

I stopped in a few days ago for lunch and wasn't disappointed. I had chicken, ribs, coleslaw, and broccoli with cheese. I eat and cook a lot of BBQ and am very particular about what "good" BBQ is, and I must say that the chicken was probably the best I've ever had. The breast was tender, juicy and full of peppery sweet flavor. The ribs were a little on the over done side but still very tasty. The flavor is credited to their clear sauce which was good, but the BBQ was so good it didn't need sauce. I can't wait until I'm back through that area to eat some more of that chicken. read more

My husband and I stopped in 5 years ago in mid-afternoon for BBQ sandwiches and to try the place out as we'd just moved to Crystal Springs. It was the worst! We were the only customers in the place that time of day, so you'd think the cook would come up with a great meal. I ordered the brisket sandwich and fries. the fries were greasy and not hot. My husband ordered the pulled pork sandwich and onion rings. The onion rings were over-fried and greasy and looked like they'd been sitting under the warmer light for a long while. My husband couldn't bite through even one. Both of our sandwiches were horrible! I had to pick through the huge amount of sauce to find the tiny pieces of brisket which were more like pieces of leather and impossible to chew. His pulled pork sandwich was the same. Waitress was grouchy & rude. Have never gone back. I have talked to people who go there a lot at lunchtime and really liked the food, though, so one star for that. read more

If you are craving barbecue this is the spot! When we drove by this place there was a full parking lot so it was a good indication that the food was good. It's conveniently located right off the freeway. We ordered Pork ribs, beef and sausage. Everything was delicious. The Cole slaw, potato salad and bbq beans were excellent! They make their own barbecue sauce which I highly recommend. There is a good variety if you are traveling with kids-which we were..French fries, hamburgers, onion rings, chicken strips and rib eye. We didn't get any complaints from the kid's table so I'd say it was an all around good experience with food and service for both kids and adults. read more

Very friendly service. Food is good. Nice, relaxed place to eat. Casual dining. Kendra is an awesome waitress.

Secret BBQ sauce is amazing an addictive! Nice smoke ring on their tender ribs!

This is small town living at it's best. It's a small place that doesn't worry about a fancy location, just good food. If you're looking for good barbeque at a reasonable price then this is the place for you. It's locally owned place not a link on a chain that only cares about the bottom line. read more

Good food, unique sauce makes for a decent experience. The building is a bit run down and the staff isn't great, but the prices are fair.

Definitely worth a stop when traveling down I-55! Food was yummy, filling and reasonably priced. Folks are super nice. GET SOME OF THE CLEAR BBQ SAUCE to take home. Stuff is delish read more

Food taste like its been sitting there for awhile. Meat was dry would not recommend this place to anyone.
