This place been around decades which says a lot. Owned by POC. No parking and service is super slow!! The popcorn is exceptional with a number of flavors to choose from. The donuts are very very moist, literally melt in your mouth; in fact too soft, to chew...the dough dissolves. Shaved ice options are endless. Not cheap. read more

Wanted to grab some donuts to freeze for an upcoming business flight. Found this spot via Google, so they got my dollars. And my dollars were well spent. This is Chicago popcorn to me! Made with LOVE and flavor! The customer service is amazing! I am so proud to support this business! I tried many flavors of popcorn but the spicy cheesy caramel was my absolute favorite. The glazed donut has to be one of the best donuts I've ever had as well. When I walked in the big kid in me came out. It's a small shop with a small lobby when you walk in. The service is fast and the staff was friendly. I ordered a few of my favorite pastries and doughnuts. I had an apple fritter tat was larger than my hand. My eyes got sooooooo big when I saw it. That thing was delicious!! I also ordered a bow tie and some glazed donuts. I'll definitely be back for more. read more

The place has changed since COVID but the donuts are still the same. They are rich, fluffy, and moist. Each bit will have you craving more and more. They are almost on par with Dat Donut. Poppin Dough has a lot going on inside a tiny shop: besides doughnuts, they sell shaved ice and flavored popcorn. With that kind of triple threat, I wish that we had a place like this in my town...but for health reasons I'm glad that we don't. Anyway, I came here just for the apple fritter and was not disappointed. I'd rate this a B+. Although flat, it was perfectly textured, soft on the inside and slightly crispy outside. There were real apple chunks throughout and a decent cinnamon flavor. My main complaint is that it was too sweet; reduce the glaze by 50% and this would be a top-tier fritter. read more

I have been a fan of theirs since there first day they opened. I smelled that delectable smell of fresh cooked donuts while working at 4:30am. Rich and his wife are the nicest people you could ever meet as well as their kids. They have a wide variety of delicious snacks and everything's freshly made. You can basically get any kind of donut you want you can even get different varieties of fresh popped popcorn. The donuts were great. The mixed popcorn was phenomenal. Got a dozen glazed and tasted a lemon donut. It was just ok. The artificial lemon flavor was a little too prominent. I was expecting something more citrusy like a glaze made with real lemon juice, like I make for my lemon cakes. Also, tried to use the check in for a free donut: the cashier said they never created that. It was something fraudulent. Which was weird!!! I'd go back, if in the area. Ended up there only because, old fashioned in Roseland was closed. read more

My mom and I love their popcorn. I get the cheese with the cheesy caramel and my mom likes the cheese. The nachos are good and my granddaughter likes their donuts. Everyone is always nice and everything is fresh. I drive right past Garrett's and get my popcorn from here and their popcorn is not salty like Garrett's has become. read more

The donuts are sweet but the owners, Phyllis and Richard, are even sweeter. You can tell they've put their heart and soul into this place and are working hard to make delicious donuts. They treat every customer individually and make sure you get exactly what you want. I got the sour cream cake donut and it was top notch. The flavor, consistency, and freshness made it the perfect treat. As if that weren't enough they even warm them up for you so they're nice and gooey. The owners and staff are the most friendly and amazing people you meet! They encourage you to sample their donuts and popcorn! You can tell they are very passionate about what they do and they do it well! I was in for the donuts and was left amazed by their popcorn, so many flavors it's great! I ended up getting a dozen donuts to support them as their glazed and Boston creme donuts were off the chain! Fluffy and delicious as it should be. My family unfortunately could taste the oil tasting a bit old which I agree. Not a major issue but when they have fresher oil, this place would get 5 stars! read more

I love walking into a small business and feeling like a friend, especially when it was my first visit! Great selection of donuts and amazing service and conversation. Only got donuts this time and they were light and fluffy. The price was incredibly reasonable for a dozen. It's a small shop so don't drive too fast or you might miss it. Plenty of street parking to get in and out quickly. I will be back. read more

So this place is no joke!!! It's the real deal!!! The service has s top notch!!! There is so much pride in the product they produce. I called the store a few minutes after they closed and I asked if I could still come. She replied yes!!! I was amazed! Since I was visiting the area I wanted to have a local flavor! They did not disappoint...they amazed me beyond belief! This lil storefront not only sells signature donuts, but also traditional nachos, flaming hot cheetochos, shaved ice, and lots of traditional and unique popcorn blends!!!!! Most importantly this business takes pride in doing what they do best! They love there family, they spend time with their family(they all work together), and they are a bright example of success in the community they love. I look forward to come and enjoy these other treats on a warmer day with my family and enjoy the nearby neighborhood atmosphere, or just spend timing with these fine folks!!! Small new business on a very busy street. Easy to miss but...Great service! Popcorn and donuts in one spot! Sooo many tasty popcorn flavors and mashups. I tried several samples but hands down the cheesy dill/chz caramel was delicious. I originally wanted the spicy chz caramel but they were out. Will def be back. Again, I'm not normally about caramel (hard to get a good buttery caramel corn that's not too sweet) but man o man Poppin Dough's cheesy caramel is the best I've had in a long time.Good job read more

Poppin Dough has delicious donuts. They're in my old neighborhood and I've been telling myself for months that I would stop by and check them out but I never did until recently. I stopped by last Friday on Juneteenth 2020 to support a black owned business and to get my donut fix. Their shop is very small, if you're not paying attention you'll miss it. The owner Richard was the only one working in the shop when I got there. He was very polite and patient as I made my selections as it was my first time in there and I didn't know what I wanted. I ended going with the vanilla glazed donut, the glazed long john and a sample of the glazed munchkins. The donuts and munchkins were amazing, Very light, airy and flavorful. Their donuts are on par with Old Fashioned Donuts and they're very inexpensive as well. My entire order came out to a little under 4 bucks. They don't just sell donuts either, they also sell flavored popcorn, flavored shaved ice & nachos with all the fixings. All in all the donuts are bomb and I will definitely be back because I want to try their caramel munchkins and their apple fritters. They're located on 1235 W. 95th St. right next to the Family Dollar. If you're in the area check them out if you want good quality donuts without traveling to Old Fashioned or all the way up north to Stan's or Do Rite. You wont be dissappointed with the service or the donuts. read more

Found this place off Yelp and was not disappointed. Walked in very clean and greeted right away. The doughnuts were fresh and great. The prices were cheaper then Dunkin donuts and the taste was much better. I definitely will be back and if your on the south side it's worth the drive to give it a try. read more

Nothing like a good donout after a hard day of work or to start your morning. These are tasty, airy and I like the variety. The caramel are my fav, but they go fast and I never seem to get any :(. I think lemon and orange are just as tasty. The staff are great and very friendly. I typically get 2 dozen once a month for a meeting at work. They recommend calling ahead to order, but I typically don't (forgetful) and they are always willing to accommodate last minute requests. They serve juice, milk and coffee, but no water (hopefully, that will be available soon). read more

I found this hidden gem while picking my daughter up from school one day. This is a very small place that is not a secret to all the kids that go to school over there. I can get crowded right after school gets out which is a bit annoying, but nothing beats a nice cold shaved ice on hot Chicago day. Meet the Business Owner: Phyllis G.

We Officially opened our doors October 24, 2015. The name was created by Phyllis Gray one of the two owners. Her vision behind the name was to incoproate two things chicagoians love, and thats popcorn and donuts. We only have donuts thus far, however, popcorn will be coming soon. The second owner her husband Richard Gray, was the muscle behind this project. For nearly a year or more he helped build and oversee the construction process of what we know now as Poppin Dough. Richard, also is in charge of glazing,flavoring,frying and greeting/cahsier duties. Phyllis Gray is in charge of inventory,finances and greeting/cashier duties. Willie Gray (The son) he is the head roller and he also is in charge of frying as well. Zhaque Gray(The Daughter) is incharge of the marketing,social media, cashier/greeter & overall register and shop organization. Jordan Gray (The Youngest Son) he is in charge of eatting the donuts. Everyone plays their part in a family success story

Tbh I remember being disappointed because of the hype. Today I entered with tempered expectations. I tried the Old Fashioned doughnut and it was somewhere between solid and above average. I'll definitely stick with Do-Rite especially because they're a few blocks away and significantly better. If the job catered Voodoo I'd indulge, but considering I prefer a few other donut shops I won't make a special trip. Great service plus a respectable donut equals 3.51 stars.
