Dec.20-2023 When and and spent $29.90 and gave a three dollar cash tip today to the girl, she stuck it in her pocket. ordered six ghost pepper wings and 12 garlic Parmesan wings. Was not told about any specials or anything like that. Got home every wing we got was scorching hot. Called and talked to Stephen tonight. The manager supposedly. Told me every wing they sell is rolled in ghost pepper, even garlic, Parmesan or anything they don't have a wing that doesn't have ghost pepper on it. nobody told me this. I have them all here in the box and receipts, etc. He refused to do anything. Would not give me corporate 's phone number. Told me there's nothing he would do about it. Very very poor customer service. Will not get mine ever again and will tell all my friends and coworkers about it. And I stopped payment on my card for their mistakes. He should be fired. Wow, very surprised at this extremely low rating. This was one is the best Popeye's experiences we've had! The ladies at the drive thru window were so incredibly nice & warm. We ordered chicken sandwiches and fully expected to wait in a long line since they had recently been added back to the menu. While the drive thru line itself wasn't long, we did have to pull into a spot in the parking lot and wait for our order. Totally worth the wait ... the food came out HOT and the chicken sandwiches far exceeded our expectations. The filet was thick, crunchy and perfectly juicy inside. There was just the right amount of sauce on our sammies. This is a Popeye's we'll never hesitate to stop at when we're in town! read more

Horrible. Disgusting. Manager was disinterested. Guy who took our order had a dirty shirt and kept touching his hair with his hands. Hair was falling in his face. He didn't wear gloves. No one handling food did. Got home and chicken looked undercooked and box was torn and not closed. Old management cared about sanitary practices. This was gross. Place smelled like a bathroom. I see all the bad reviews. I ate here at approx 2:30pm and got the chicken tenders combo. The tenders were hot and fresh. Biscuit was old and dry and did not eat the red beans and rice so no comment on that. I was disappointed that the biscuit was probably made first thing and sat for hours. There is a reason why this place is 2.5 stars. $1.64 up charge for lemonade. 10 min wait for 3 spicy tenders then another 10 min wait on my mother's 3 tenders . A cashier who clearly couldn't give a damn less. Gave previous customer butter instead of tartar sauce -- twice. Manager standing right there saying she can't wait to leave. That's pretty clear. Since we had to wait we add for at least the red beans first and she said no, they come all together (!). One of my favorite places, but these guys are having issues getting it all to come together for them. I've given them more than 6 chances, and they simply can't get it together. Their fries are always way over done or simply cold. The onion rings don't taste the way they should. The corn on the cob is mushy. And the red beans and rice is often not offered with enough red bean or the rice is undercooked. They often simply just get the order wrong with no offer to make the correction. The tenders have always been my fav and they are hit or miss. Often not done or so done they are like rubber. I keep going back, hoping they've figured this out. I usually go to KFC, but here recently its been making me sick. So, I decided Id try Popeyes. I remember the Popeyes on the military base was always great. So, I pull up to drive thru. I order a 12pcs bucket mild with Mashed potatoes and coleslaw. Well, my wife wanted some french fries. So, I asked to get fries instead of the cole slaw. The drive thru employee was dumbfounded and asked if I still wanted the other fries. I said, "no, Just the one order." After explaining it a few different ways, she finally got it. We pull up. Pay. Sat there.... And then they have us pull up. Finally they bring out our order. We go home, about 10 minutes away. We sat down to eat. The chicked was old, luke warm, it was over done, the breading was so hard it crumbled into crums when you bit into it. The biscuits would make great hockey pucks, the mashed potatoes weren't horrible but so spicy hot. If I order mild chicken, why would I want my mashed potatoes to be spicy. Needless to say we thru 75% of the chicken away. Im waiting to see if I get sick. I'll update later. It never ceases to amaze me that these fast food workers want $15/hr. When we, a group of 10 went through the drive thru the woman McKenzie was extremely rude and told the driver to wait and made her wait over 10 minutes. We ordered 1 Spicy Chicken Sandwich combo, 1 Regular Chicken Sandwich Combo, a 1/2 pound shrimp combo, A crispy chicken sandwich (not combo) and a dozen beignets. We received no beignets. Instead of beignets they charged us for an extra 2 drinks and a fish n chicken combo. We did not receive the two drinks but we did receive the fish n chicken combo we did not ask for. We went back with the extra ordered food and asked for the beignets and for a partial refund for the food we did not order. They did NOT give us the refund but they did give us the beignets. They did not charge us for the beignets so they figured the combo and two drinks was an equal amount to the 12 beignets which it was not. We also never received the two drinks that they charged us for. Don't go here unless you're looking to get charged for food you don't want and not receive the food you actually ordered. read more

First off let me start by saying I absolutely love Popeyes oh, except the one in Front Royal Virginia. I've given it a try twice, hoping the first time was just a weird fluke but it wasn't. Believe it or not, Popeye's Chicken is not supposed to be dried out and chewy like rubber and the Cajun Rice is also not supposed to be all dried out and shriveled up. Charged me extra for chicken breasts when she told me after charging me they didn't have any then refused to fix it because I was no longer purchasing them. Give them time, see if they work out the kinks. This location having opened 5 days prior to this review, struggled to keep up with the small amount of business at 8:30 PM. In all fairness, stock may have been depleted earlier today and through the grand opening. The problems: they were out of 5 of the 8 dipping sauces, having only ranch, sweet, and hot sauce. To save face, they also offered ketchup. Yep. Ketchup. For chicken. Only in the Fro' Ro'... There was no ice in the soda machine, and they did not have the staff to spare to fill it. The poor girl who was supposed to give the food to us had to run back and forth with every customer to fill it with ice from the drive-thru station. There was a 9 minute wait for food, so there was a substantial traffic jam at the counter/soda machine. Then she had to tell every customer they did not have the sauce they wanted, and go through the litany of ranch, hot sauce, sweet & sour ketchup with each order she gave out. The family before me in line came back after leaving because they forgot his large side. Once I got to the table I realized my order was missing an item as well. Everyone dining in was served a to-go box in a plastic bag, which was offensive because they had trays. I presume they didn't want to wash them. It was one of those things I didn't even notice until it dawned on me that I was eating out of a box in a plastic bag. It reminded me of the days in the Army where they would "treat" us to a box lunch. Poor service, poor logistics and poor staffing. So why two stars, and not one? Because the food (for fast food) was very enjoyable. Even without the Mardi Gras mustard (cough, cough!). That was the redeeming quality. It may be unfair to judge them so harshly in the first week, but they should have been ready for this before opening. So this review is solely regarding their customer service. I mean, it's chain fast food, it's fried chicken... you should know what to expect. I stopped in while on the road for the holidays. About an hour from my destination, and just a little hungry. The associate behind the counter was special beyond helpful I felt compelled to yelp. She asked how hungry I was, and then suggested the two piece special. Apparently they offer free drinks until 3pm, and even though it was about 10 after 3, she still gave me the drink for free. When boxing up my food, she exclaimed that the box was too big, so she threw in an extra piece of chicken and some more fries! And checked on every possible condiment I could need or want. Yes it's two miles off the exit, and there's some construction that might slow things down, but I'll be coming here again when traveling this stretch again. read more

This Popeyes location is impressively bad. On several attempts to try this Popeyes location, we've ordered a spicy 5 piece tender with onion rings and on both occasions they gave us mild, and the onion rings were not the standard Popeyes type, they looked like they were from the Walmart freezer section. I thought maybe that was a 1 time issue, but a month later they had the same issue. The funniest part is there wasn't even a language barrier with the employees here, so I have no idea where the miscommunications are happening. I "love that chicken at Popeyes"! But since there isn't one where I live, and I was traveling in this fine hood this afternoon, I stopped by to get my fair share of the bird I love. So ok, back to the car and Plan A drive thru I go, damn it, and all 4 cars were still there. - Hadn't moved an inch since I made my unsuccessful get away. The only good news was that the bodies in these immobile vehicles appeared to be alive, so there was at least a possibility the earth would move again, and we'd all be chowing down at some point. When? I couldn't know, but I was hopeful, so I reluctantly took my place as the last grunt in line, instead of the blazing first star that I'd imagined myself to be only moments before. Umph. -- Time went by slowly as I awaited the prize, which I now had to admit was a stupid one, but I wanted it anyway. As I sat with the engine revving, I consoled my mystified pup, brought up the web, and turned up the tunes, until finally, my moment arrived. It is my turn. Yay. I ordered what was once my fantasy feast, but now has become my burden, and was suddenly loudly interrupted by the order taker with a "WAIT, WAIT, WAIT!"! So we pulled into the drive thru. There weren't many people in there so I expected it would be quick but it took 20 minutes to get our food. They forgot to get a coke, the hot sauce, the jelly, they gave a leg instead of the breast, they forgot the barbecue sauce, they even forgot to get us the straws. I have never had such a horrible and uncomfortable dining experience in my life! The dining room was dirty and the tables were littered with food. They were out of many items that we wanted and had NO sauce other than ranch, cocktail, and tartar. I could have lived with this, but then an employee and the manager got into a verbal altercation (shouting match) in front of the customers. The employee was cursing and yelling and was fired in front of everyone. She claimed that the manager was thawing out frozen chicken in hot water and was worried about customers getting food poisoning. This didn't make us very happy considering we were already eating our meal. I think we (and the other people eating) should be refunded for our meals. I may even make a call to the health dept tomorrow to come inspect this restaurant. That manager and former employee should be ashamed...we will not be back!! read more

This Popeye's location is a new addition to the gastronomical selections in Front Royal, VA. I was thrilled that a location was coming to Front Royal, as it would lessen my trips to Winchester for Popeye's chicken. However, as other reviewers have noted. The place has yet to get their employees to work as a cohesive team to simply run the restaurant as expected. Rather, they have failed to ensure that all menu selection are available for order and the food was not maintained at the proper temperature. I've been twice since it opened, and both times I would quantify the atmosphere as dysfunctional and needs major improvement before I will ever return. My first issue with this location. I don't really care for sweetened drinks with my food. Each time they did not have any unsweetened iced tea available near the beverage area. During my first visit, I assume it was the owner that was holding a meeting with the assistant/management staff in the dining area. As they were going back and forth with their conversation, I was thinking to myself, I don't really want to hear that while I am eating my lunch. As a retired manager, I feel it was unprofessional to hold a business meeting in the customer dining area during peak lunch hour. The food was not good. The chicken was average but both side order selections (mashed potatoes and red beans and rice) were lukewarm, well below what I estimate the health department requires for safe food handling. I finished my meal as quickly as I could to avoid hearing the continued onslaught of noise from the management meeting. On my second visit, I never made it past the order counter before I left this dysfunctional place. I arrived early for lunch around 11:45 am. I tried to place a food order, but was informed by the less than pleasant cashier that my side order selection of coleslaw was not available because it was not made, and once again they were out of unsweetened iced tea. At that time, I decided that I had enough. Instead, I went to the Kentucky Fried Chicken restaurant in town for lunch. My experience on that visit to KFC was very positive. The food at KFC was fresh and hot. The pricing is more reasonable than Popeye's, and you get more chicken with the three piece meal (two breasts and one wing vs. Popeye's smaller two wings and one breast). The Front Royal KFC will now be my first choice when I want a quick lunch of fried chicken in Front Royal. During my visit, the staff there was friendly and responsive, and all menu selections were available for purchase. read more
