Mrs Mikes - Cheese burger

After eating about 5 veggie burgers in the last month (at Boon's) I had to balance it off with a…read more"real" burger. So I splurged (calorically speaking) on a burger at Mrs. Mikes. I don't really give out 5 stars that often but this place really deserves it. I am still shocked and amazed at how good their burger is! I ordered the cheeseburger ($5) - kinda pricey compared to VJ's. But Mrs. Mike's burgers are bigger comparatively speaking. The cheeseburger is on a sesame bun, probably the size of a whopper. The patty is just slightly bigger than the bun and cooked with a slight crisp on the outside but still juicy inside - I love that! The flavour of the beef patty is perfectly seasoned and balances so well with the cheese, pickle, chili, onion and mustard. They don't put too much chili on their burgers so it's not as messy to eat but you still get the chili flavour. Of course I had to order their fries ($3). Now I'm torn on their fries because I was expecting the type of home cut fries (with the skin on) like at VJs but the ones here look and taste like McDonald's fries (although they taste a bit better than McDs). I have my moments when I love McD fries but when I am going to a local burger joint, I totally expect more "homestyle" fries. So maybe that pulls them down to 4.5??? I don't know...it's all subjective anyways and I'm neurotic enough to get a cheeseburger here and drive down to Broadway to get the fries at VJs. LOL. I was pretty full after finishing the cheeseburger and eating half the fries but I didn't feel too gross. You know that feeling when you've stuffed yourself with too much greasy food. So 5 stars for the cheeseburger and 4 stars for the fries = 4.5 stars, but I gave them the 5. The place seems pretty clean and organized in the kitchen. I was a little confused about where I was suppose to place my order as there are 2 widows (one in the front and one on the side). For the most part, it seemed like you order at the front, then wait for your order and then pick up and pay on the side window but then again some people did it differently. This place closes in the winter and closes at 7 pm so it's not a late night burger joint. There is no indoor seating as there are only picnic tables on the right side, which is about as scenic as a parking lot/alley - I took mine to go. All the prices listed on the board include taxes so it'll be a round number when you pay (CASH ONLY). They have a king burger (which I'm curious to what in includes), no fat boy but maybe the king burger is their version of one??? They also serve chili fries, milkshakes, and chicken fingers. Note: they are open seasonally (closes for the winter). Tues-Sat 11 am to 7 pm.

Had a very nice time with friend. Specially love the pork cutlet, very huge size and delicious. One…read moreof my friends recommended this KOREAN restaurant and I expected I would get a pork bone soup before I got there, but somehow it was disappointed because I am not a big fan of Korean mixed Canadian or western style fast foods. Ordered 3 dishes - Pork cutlet, small noodle with black bean sauce, and some chicken with sauce - cost about $40. Pork Cutler was amazing because of the size, but other dishes were ok, taste sweet and sour.

All bets are now off!…read more Dad sold the place to a bunch of Koreans and the standards, service, quality has taken a HUGE nosedive. What particularly preturbs me is that there was no "Under New Management" sign or anything to let people know. We knew something was amiss when we walked in and found a whole bunch of pictures of kimchi-looking foods taped on the wall. Nevertheless, since we were seated and all, we decided to carry on with our dining experience. Big mistake. Most of the other diners -- Asians -- were ordering what looked to be noodles with various other things with them. It appears that they can cook this well, as the other diners were enjoying what they ordered. However, the burgers and fries we received were horrid, with the hamburgers being greasy, the fries kind of raw in the middle, and the gravy resembling wallpaper paste. Pass this place up and go to the Red Top instead. Your stomach will be glad.

McDonald's - My Big Mac from Winkler McDonald's yesterday. I was having a head and needed food fast so I put a little faith in McDonald's.

The food was well cooked and very good, it has not changed since I was last in a McD's. In other words, they are known for consistancy. I dined in and ordered at a kiosk mainly because ALL of the staff were Asian and none of them had a good grasp of the English language. I'm not being racist, I'm calling it the way I see it. I stood behind someone before going to the kiosk and he had to repeat his order 5x for them to understand AND it took 3 McD's staff standing there to try to understand him! I placed my order without issues, walked over to the pickup counter and it was ready in about 4 minutes. That was very efficient although I also got caught in the language barrier. First there were four staff very close to the counter and they all ignored me. Eventually I had to call out loudly for assistance. A manager came over and I said that the kiosk app did not allow me to order extra onion, could they do that? I had to repeat myself twice. He said that could be done. Before he came over he was speaking an Indian language to all of the back staff and when he finished with me he went back to that language. I have no issues with other languages, however, it's not one of Canada's official languages. I really don't understand why they must communicate in their own language AND why they must speak so fast and loud. Anyway, service was fast, food was good, the restaurant was very clean and a young man was mopping the floors when I was there. I even found a clean table which seems to be rare for most fast food restaurants. I would go back to this McD's, although not often only because it's not really on my list of favorite places overall. SIDEBAR: Isn't it hillarious all of the one star reviews here that the reviewers only have 1 review? In other words, they only review this McD's. All of these one star reviews are hack jobs to discredit this store, but of course, Yelp doesn't see it, their algorithms and AI don't see it. Go figure. In my opinion, the REAL average score for this establishment is closer to a 4. When is Yelp going to REMOVE the one review hack reviews AND more important why do they continue to have an average score based on scores from when the business was first listed. There are very old reviews. It's not fair for any business to have an average based on reviews more than 1 year old.
