After using Comet Cleaners to get my uniforms dry cleaned, I didn't like the drive all the way to Alamo Ranch. Once I found out about Pope Cleaners and the price was very reasonable and they provide Military/LE discounts, I gave them a shot. My husband has been a customer for over 7 years and spends hundreds of dollars a month getting his police uniforms and clothes dry cleaned. Today he went in to drop off a large bag of clothing around 1:30pm, 30 minutes before the store closes. The cashier named Alex (who is also the owner's son) refused to count his clothes and insisted that he was going to list the clothing count at 20 pieces. My husband did not agree and asked for his clothing to be counted. The cashier was very rude and ended up denying service to my husband. The highlight of the visit was when the cashier informed my husband he was going to delete his account and told him to take his clothing elsewhere, all because he wanted his clothing accounted for! What kind of dry cleaning establishment doesn't do a clothing count? This is a huge red flag in the way they do business. I am all for supporting small businesses, but if this is the way they treat customers and law enforcement officers they need to reevaluate the way they do business or they wont have any. This is no way to treat a long term customer or any customer in general. We will be taking our business elsewhere and would not recommend these cleaners to anyone. * FOLLOW-UP* My husband ended up talking to an employee named Liz about the incident after it occurred. The whole time she kept defending Alex and his behavior, never apologizing for what happened. We later found out that this was a relative of his. It is quite apparent that they don't value their customers at all. We ended up talking to our neighbors later in the day and they had mentioned that this is a common occurrence with Alex, yet nothing is being done about it. I brought a comforter for drycleaning and it was never cleaned. The first time I came to pick it up it still had the dirt and stains that I took ot for. It disn't even smell clean. I returned and they promised to get it cleaned. Returned weeks later to pick it up and it was STILL dirty and even came with a cockroach leg. It even looked like they dragged the bottom of the comforter through dirty floors! NEVER again!!! read more

Be cautious when taking anything of sentimental value to POPE Cleaners. I brought in a white wedding dress with dirt on the bottom to be cleaned, and it came back entirely gray. At first, they gave me the wrong dress and insisted it was mine. When they finally returned the correct dress, they didn't call or acknowledge that it had changed color - they simply handed it over and took payment. Even the clerk commented, "Why does it not look white?". I'm deeply disappointed, especially since this place came highly recommended and advertises "restoration" - "you can trust Popes to give very special care" - "Your Quinceañera or Wedding dress--perhaps the most beautiful dress you have ever owned! Now you can have your beautiful Quinceañera or Wedding dress cleaned and preserved so that it stays picture perfect for you or for anyone else in your family". It's all false. Their explanation? "The dirt had to go "somewhere". They claimed to have cleaned it five times, yet never once called to inform me there was an issue. Like most brides, the dress had some dirt on the bottom from walking around-it wasn't unusual or excessive. When I asked about filing a claim for damages, the owner was completely dismissive, saying, "We are well known in the community and have been here a long time and there is nothing you can do about it". But that doesn't change the fact that they ruined the dress and blamed it on the dirt. I trusted them with a priceless heirloom, and they showed no care, no responsibility, and not even a courtesy of a phone call to discuss they were having an issue with cleaning the dress. I saved my dress for 34 years to pass down to my daughter, transforming it into a wedding robe for her. Thanks to Pope Cleaners, that tradition has been destroyed. Their attitude?
