Best Comet Cleaners! Always have our clothes ready when they say. Staff is super friendly and gets to know what I need. This location has inside counter service as well as drive-thru door along side. There are tons of specials including press only and 3-pants special. Coupons are usually available on the back of H-E-B receipts too. Varipak contains seasonal coupons for things like comforter cleaning. We got ours done recently and it turned out great. Unfortunately, Comet is one of those companies that employs the "pink tax" - women's clothes are more expensive to clean for similar material, etc. They do offer drop-off bags for the after hours drawer. There are tons of dry cleaners in San Antonio ranging from the big chains to the mom n' pop places. There are pros and cons for each. For example, the big shops may lack the je ne sais quoi of the small neighborhood mom n' pop cleaners but what you get in return is consistency and reliability. The smaller shops may know you by name but sometimes service can be sketchy. Comet Cleaners is obviously one of the big chain cleaners. While I do believe they have higher prices than the small shops, I know I'll be getting my dry cleaning the next day in most instances. I've had some very inconsistent pickups using smaller shops. Comet has everything you've come to expect from dry cleaners. They are a big operation, efficient in their task, and consistent in their product. They excel in bulk jobs which may result in a quagmire at smaller shops. Of course, your large/bulkier items, leather, silks, etc., usually take longer. So why 3 stars and not 4? Price. While I think they offer a fair price for the reliability of their service, it's always more than I pay at the smaller shops (which take 2-3 days usually). I'm a cheap bsartad sometimes and dry cleaning is a prime example of where I don't like to spend a lot of money. Then again, if I owned anything nice, I might. Anyway, Comet Cleaners will run you a tad more but you'll usually get your clothes in 2 hours. Items are returned on hangers and covered in plastic. You'll more than likely be satisfied with their service and willing to accept their prices for the convenience of efficiency. read more

Employees are so friendly and nice, big smiles and welcomes when you come in the door. Set up an "account", they supposedly send out email discounts but not spam. They offer military discounts if your total is over $15. If you set up an account they will note your discount so it's automatically applied w/o you having to ask each time. Quick turn around - I dropped off Wed before 2pm and my things were ready Thurs after 5:30pm. That's awesome. 2 sweaters & 1 blouse: $16 (before discount). The claim ticket won't give an amount - just a pick up day/time. Plus it's next to Dunkin Donuts. Bonus! read more

When I took a few dresses here last week to be cleaned, I let them know that this was my very first time using a dry cleaning service. They told me that the price would be a certain amount but then when I came to pick them up the total was over $70 for maybe six items. And when I got home to inspect the clothes, there were two dresses that clearly had stains that had not been touched. Also, I had taken in a shirt to get a simple button sewn back on. When I inspected that after getting it back, the button was still missing and the hot pink tag pointing out that it needed replacing was still pinned there there. Today, of course when I come back to pick up my things for the second time, they cannot find the shirt with the button replacement. I had to wait about 10 minutes for them to call another employee to find out where it is. Also, one of the dresses I had taken in just had a broken strap. I made it clear to the employee when I dropped it off that the dress was brand-new and I just needed the strap fixed. But when I picked it up, I was charged $20 for the cleaning and alterations when I only needed alterations. I told the lady that I did not want this cleanand she just said "oh" sympathetically as if I was making conversation and didn't say anything else I will not be returning here because of the high prices and the handful of mistakes that were made on my order. read more

I could tell she was concerned about the review and did want to make it right. She gave me a $10 credit to retain my business. However, for me personally, this dry cleaners is still pricy. Decided on this cleaners due to the good reviews. Called ahead of time to get quoted on a bed spread I was bringing. After having left it along with many other items, I received an email with a different price than what I was quoted. I admit, before I left anything I should have asked for confirmation of the pricing. I was comfortable and have been to many cleaners and felt fairly versed in general dry cleaning costs. I called to ask about the difference in price and the woman I spoke to was nice and said they had coupons they would apply which I already knew about and was prepared to show. She said she would apply the coupon discounts to my account and that they would be reflected in the system when I came for pick up. Cool. I received another email with the wrong amount so went today to pick up my things. The gentleman says to me and I quote "they cannot be quoting you like that". I do not like doing business where I cannot trust the pricing I am quoted and then to make my customer service experience even worse, they do not honor it what I was told, right or wrong. Mind you, we were talking about a $7 difference. I told him about the coupon for which he replied "did you have the coupon with you?". Clearly not listening to me as I already told him this was a phone conversation. Not good business ethics. Have used them for years now, and take my DH shirts in to be laundered regularly. Get the coupon from the HEB receipt and get them done for $1.97 each, just laundered. Dropped them off, got my receipt and on my way...same as always. Go back to pick them up today, and get charged $58.34 for 20 shirts. Hey, something is not correct here, should be just under $40, not almost $60. "Oh, the Tommy Bahama shirts were dry cleaned". WHY? You have done them 100 times and NEVER dry cleaned them before? When I dropped them off, you gave be a tag for laundry, they are launderable and you have done it 100 times, WHY did you just decide to "dry clean them this time"? Goes back in and looks at history, sure enough, never been drycleaned despite having been handled there multiple times before. "Oh, because they press it differently in dry cleaning"......Ahhhhh, NO! NOT a good excuse. So, BEWARE. I have NO idea why this was done, it was never discussed, asked for nor was I contacted. Not only paid $20 more than I should have to get shirts laundered, but then poor excuses when you KNOW I come in regularly and you have never had a question or done this before???? WILL NOT BE GOING BACK!!!!! To arbitrarily decide to "shake things up only to charge 50% more than services you were asked to provide????
