When I come to eat hot pot the soup is an important factor. It's definitely missing or lack of something. The service needs improvement even for an Asian restaurant. We asked many times for our beer on tap but it took like 20 minutes. -1 star for watery soups and slow service. They were also missing their most important sauce the bean paste. I couldn't believe it. That's -1 full star there. The ambience was okay, nothing extraordinary. I will think about coming back here. This used to be one of my favorite hotpot place. To call this place unprofessional and SLOW is an understatement. After sitting down and deciding on our selection, it took us 15+ minutes to get the attention of a waiter to order food. This was at a time when the restaurant wasn't full yet. The first 2 of our 3 pots took 35 MINUTES to get to our table. The last pot took another 15 minutes and 2 inquiries to finally arrive while others ate. So it took 1+ hour to get our food. The servers were nice but the waitlist was weird- we were second on the list and one party was ahead of us (a party of 4) so they had like 3 open tables meant for two people and no big tables for the four, so they waited until the four sat before seating anyone else? On top of this, once my friends hotpot came out, mine took an additional 15 minutes to arrive as I saw six other hotspots come out for different tables yet my order was rung in the same time as my friend.... weird. I am impressed. I am big fan of Taiwanese stinky hot pot. Ever since hot spot closed, I have not really found my to go place for Taiwanese stinky hot pot until now. Starting with the atmosphere. It is modern, clean, and well decorated. The place is fairly loud but it is normal for asian restaurants. It has big screen TV so people can watch TV while enjoying their food. I believe they also have private rooms for people's gatherings. I ordered number 1 which is always the safe choice. I ordered the original stinky tofu hot pot. The stinky tofu is not super "stinky" which I consider that as a plus. When the stinky tofu flavor is too strong, sometimes it becomes unpleasant. I actually think the "stinkness" of the tofu is just right to the taste bud. All the other items taste great in the soup, such as the cabbages, fish balls, eggs, fish cakes and everything else. The soup is very tasty. It is not too greasy, not too strong in flavor, and delicious at the perfect level. The sauce is also great as well, and my friend commented that it is similar to the sauce at boiling point. Last, I like to say the meat quality is BETTER than boiling point. It is much more tender, fresh and flavored. On the side note, their drinks are also very decent as well. I ordered the plum green tea with agar half sugar. It was very good. Agar is not a common topping that all tea places offer so I was also pleased as well to have that in my drink. I will definitely come back again very soon. read more

I felt abandoned by the waitress. I tried to rise my hand up and high whenever there's employee walking by. No one can see my hand because of the stupid "POP POT" board limiting the interaction between the customers and the servers. The restaurant is absolute not busy at that time. BUT NO ONE CAME CHECK WITH ME WHETHER I AM OKAY WITH THE FOOD. NO ONE CAME CHECK IF I NEED MORE WATER. I was so desperate with more water at that time. I ended up walking to the front and asking for more water, and I saw them just standing behind the SOP system and doing nothing lol. Suggestion: 1) Go check with your customers because they might need something other than you delivering food to them, maybe they need more napkins or water, especially when you give me such a small cup of water. 2) Remove that POP POT board so that you can see your customers rising hands and looking for service; 3) Or install table call system or have table service button on each of your tables. The quality and taste have gone down over time. I used to love the the Pumpkin pot and several others but not any more. Price has gone up and portion has become smaller. The last few times when I was there with a friend, they didn't even give us a bottle of water, which I saw on tables of bigger parties; only two small cups that we needed refills like every 10 mins, but it's also hard to get the servers' since they don't walk around to the section in the back that much. Glad that the owner decided to re open in Diamond Bar after closing Smelly Pot in Rowland Heights a few years back. I always order their Sour Napa Pork Pot! If you like sour then I do recommend giving this pot a try. They also use the old boiling point sauce which I really like and enjoy! I don't tend to eat a lot, and am often made fun of by my former coworkers, but I am able to finish all of the hot pot by myself! No to go for me, which is a rarity. The accompanying portions of rice or vermicelli are so small that it isn't enough to go with the hot pot. Parking can be quite difficult on a Friday night because of the limited parking around the plaza. Came by one night because paper pot was closed. In a nutshell: mediocre, subpar even. Service is slow. Really, really slow. The pots took around 20 minutes to come out. It took forever to get our waters too. They ran out of boba which was surprising since theyre advertised as a tea place as well. I got the house special pot. I figured, if its their house special, I cant go wrong with it right? Nope. It was underflavored and the spices didn't mix well into the soup so every food in it came out with grains of spice on it. My dads pot came without wax under it, so halfway through the meal we realized that his soup was getting cold. Overall, i'd rather go to Jazz cat or Paper pot.
