For the first time in my life, I locked myself out of the house. I've gotten so used to locking the door behind me any time I leave (if only to check the mail or take the garbage out), that I failed to think about the other part of my routine: check that my keys were on me. The fortuitous thing was that I had my phone on me (which I never do). So, to recap: locked door (usual). No keys (unusual). Phone on my person when exiting my house in my yard (highly unusual). So, thanks to the above facts I didn't panic. I smh'ed some and went about looking on Yelp for a locksmith. Up popped 'Pop-A-Lock.' I called, explained myself and gave my address. The process couldn't have been easier. The person on the phone gave me the price and the expected wait time. Fine. This happened in mid-fall so the weather was pleasant and, thankfully, I was dressed, fed and not in need of the facilities. Within the quoted time period, my lock technician pulled up, ascertained my identity (I appreciated the safety measure; I did this on my phone but I wonder what would have happened had I not had some form of ID on me. Note to self, kids), asked what kind of key I used, and popped the lock in no time flat. I was a combination of impressed, grateful and a little horrified. It's really easy to break into a house if you know what you're doing and have tools. Get a security system, people. I paid him. I thanked him. And, he was on his way to assist the next idiot who locked themselves out. I hope not to be in this situation again but if I am, I'll know who to call. Hopefully, I'll have my phone on me. read more

Spoke with their office three different times and received the same quote for service each time, yet when the locksmith called , he doubled the price. When on hold, their recording says do not pay a company more than the price quoted, but they tried to double their price. The locksmith even said the cost of the key to him was $160, he tried to price gouge over $500. 100% would not recommend. My final cost was $260 with a different company. While I still cannot vouch for using their services, I can say that it is evident that he is committed to customer service. I absolutely believe he will be using my experience as a tool to educate his employees. First review: I just got off the phone with these people and will never call them again. I spoke with someone named Lola(I believe). As I was explaining what I was needing, she interrupted me multiple times. First, she interrupted asking what city I was in. I told her and continued on explaining that I have the key but need a new key cut and programmed from the original. She interrupts me again asking for my address. As I'm trying to tell her the address, she cuts me off again saying she couldn't hear me. Professionalism speaks volumes to me and that includes the tone you use when speaking to people. There is a difference in interrupting someone, sounding annoyed and saying, "I can't hear you," and waiting until they're finished speaking and saying, "I'm sorry, ma'am. The volume on the phone is too soft and I'm having trouble understanding you. Do you mind speaking up?" I was at the point of giving her my state when she interrupted me. You were really in such a hurry that you couldn't let me say my state and zip code before rudely interrupting me again. I understand that there are situations where you need to get the information fast and people take too long to tell you the information you need but the entirety of this phone call was 2 minutes. After I raise my voice to give her my address, she asks for the year, make, model and color of my vehicle. She next asked if my car was a push start, to which I answered no. Then, she says, "So you need to put the key in the ignition to start the car?" Yes, if it doesn't have a push start, how the hell am I going to start it without putting the key in? For the grand finale, she quoted me $295 to cut and program a key that has the lock and unlock buttons on it. She went on the quote me the price of just the key without the buttons. I was so baffled by the first number that I don't remember specifics of the second quote for just the key but it was over $200 also. My car is a 2008, Toyota Camry...super basic. Please someone tell me how the dealership is charging $140 and Pop-A-Lock is charging over double. read more

Had a situation where I needed my flat tire replaced so my mother and I called Pop A Lock. Altonious was extremely rude! He hung up in my mother's face on several occasions, his entire demeanor reeked of unpleasantness and didn't handle us with care at all. Never the less, he changed the tire in a timely fashion but when he was finished he proceeded to leave my rug on the concrete alongside my vehicle. I opened the door to my backseat only to discover that my old tire(which is covered in dirt and the interior of my vehicle is a tan,cloth material) was thrown onto my seats leaving my seats ruined. We politely asked him to rearrange items back to their original state and he refused. He began to use diction that was entirely unprofessional for a better lack of words. Pop-A-Lock is always there when you least want to speak to them, perhaps at 1AM when you realize you've locked yourself out of your own bedroom. My technician, Bill, was courteous and, in other circumstances where I wasn't mad at myself, the world, and the $90 it would cost me to access my own bedroom and things. He was even polite enough not to mention the clear signs of the amateur lockpicking failures that I'd attempted over the hour it took him to arrive (two broken bobby pins, paint shavings, bent door trim, and a mangled credit card). The lock on my BMW broke, so the key turned in the door, but the lock had become disconnected from its linkage, leaving me locked out, with my keys in my hand. Pop-a-Lock saved the day. Here's how: 1) The Pop-a-Lock guy showed up within about 15 minutes of my call. Excellent. 2) The gentleman they sent knew EXACTLY what to do. He had unlocked many cars just like mine. We called pop-a-lock because the lock on our front door broke leaving our main entrance constantly locked. The service man came out very quickly and diagnosed the problem easily. He kept me informed of all the problems that needed repair and answered all of my questions. He had to leave for a part and returned after hours to finish the job so we would not be left with a broken door over night. There was some confusion afterwards regarding how the bill was to be paid. Being a business and not a residential or personal call, we assumed they would bill us for the service, but Pop-A-Lock requires that all new customers pay at the time of service, which was not clear when we placed the call and received the initial quote. The technician called the office and after explaining the situation to the general manager, he emailed us an invoice which we assured him we would pay during normal business hours the following day when our accounting people were in the office. I called and was given a 45 minute to 1 hour estimate for arrival to come unlock my car door. I waited around 1 hour and 15 minutes to call for an ETA. After being asked questions like "is a technician there" and "has a technician already been there", the dispatcher said that I was not in the computer and it would be another hour before anyone could arrive. The next time, the operator was rude and left without even jumping my car. I then phoned them to send someone else (I needed to drive to babysit my granddaughter), but only reached a voicemail.
