SCAM COMPANY!!! Do not use!! Charged $330 on a Saturday to unlock car but gave a $50 discount. Said the $ was overpay for a Saturday afternoon. Then said they only take cash and followed to an ATM. Couldn't believe. Called company to ask how much they charge (after the fact and waited 2 hours in rain) and they said $104 and they do take credit/debit cards. I asked for manager and they did not care the a representative is ripping people off. Disgusting practice. read more

If you care at all about good customer service and getting your lock fixed in a timely manner, DO NOT CALL POP-A-LOCK!!! The owner Paul told me someone would be out earlier this week to check out my lock (its a patio door) and no one showed up and I never heard anything from him cancelling, etc. James finally came out yesterday, did his best, but my lock broke his tools so he said he'd come back today and call me at a certain time to figure out when. When I hadn't heard from him, I called Paul to check in since I didn't want to be left hanging like I was the other day. Paul tried to blame the technician, saying that James is great if he shows up, basically trying to make him sound unreliable and he said "he's flakier than me, if that's possible." I commented that I couldn't see how that was possible considering he had told me he was sending someone out earlier this week and I never heard anything. (James had been without cell service, so he was not flaking out) Paul then told me that I have a bad attitude, and I said its ridiculous for him to say that I have a bad attitude when I was making a legitimate comment on his professionalism. He said at this point, he'd prefer I call someone else, and I said fine, and then he goes "Well, I mean, I can send someone now." I decided to let James give it another shot, since he'd already looked at the lock and I didn't want this whole thing to keep dragging on. He came by, couldn't work it out and said he could look into it on the internet and I told him not to bother, because I cannot continue to deal with Paul. James is great, a really nice guy, professional and very easy going. Its unfortunate that Paul is a complete asshole - if you can't get your appointments right, that's your flaw in management and not my "bad attitude." read more

These guys were absolutely fantastic. I gave them a call yesterday and explained that I was looking to either re-key or change the locks on all the doors in my new home. I explained what we had - the gentleman on the phone advised a couple of different approaches, and told me to buy the locks I wanted at the price I wanted at either Home Depot or from the web - and told me what to look for as far as matching keys, etc. (They just as easily could have sold me some themselves, but they directed me to the best deal). Then, they showed up exactly on time as scheduled and replaced the locks perfectly - James the locksmith was professional, very friendly, and very skilled. Our car key broke off in the ignition this morning. I saw that Pop-A-Lock had gotten great reviews on Yelp & gave them a call. The assistant took my info & said that Paul would call right back which he did 2 minutes later. He said he'd be at my location in approx 25 to 30 mins. He was there in 25 mins (which was great because the temp was starting to drop & all I had on was a light coat). Paul went right to work and was successful in removing the broken part of the key from my car's ignition. He was very polite & professional and I would highly recommend him to everyone! read more

He came that afternoon, on time and even called ahead to let me know he was 20 minutes away. Hit or miss with these guys. Sometimes you get a timely response and some times you get a slow response. Sometimes you get a technician that speaks English, sometimes you don't. Bottom line, you are taking a gamble with these guys. They may be available 24 hours, but be prepared for the best and the worst service. Dependability is not their forte. read more

Worked with both Paul and James from Pop-A-Lock. These guys are fantastic. We were taking care of a friends dog and got locked out(dog inside). We were in a hurry to get back in and the first locksmith(RunLocalLocksmith) we called totally ripped us off. Long story short- we got scammed- overcharged us a ton and destroyed the lock in the process in hopes of getting more money from us by having us hire them to replace the destroyed parts. We realized this guy was trying to rip us off and decided to search for a new locksmith. Fortunately we found Pop-A Lock. I called Paul and he was extremely helpful and understanding. We spoke multiple times over the phone and he was able to diagnose the problem via pictures we'd sent him over email. It turned out the lock was a rare model that's not made anymore. He even stopped by a day or two later while working on a job nearby to check out the lock in person. He told us our best case senario would be to take some parts from a newer model lock and adapt it for this older lock. He sent James over to convert the old lock and it turned out fantastic. The lock works great and we didn't have to change any hardware. Both Paul and James answered all of our questions and explained all of the options available to us in this tricky situation. They fixed the lock at an extremely reasonable rate(a fraction of what the scammer was asking). Had we gone with them in the first place we could have avoided getting the lock destroyed as well. Lesson learned. Highly recommend this company to anyone and we will certainly use them in the future if we have another emergency. read more

I promised myself I would never make a Yelp account or review anything online but my first and most recent interaction with this company all of four hours ago warranted it. I recently lost my apartment keys which had my address on them (not smart I know). My managing company forwarded me the contact for this company and I called ASAP. I didn't realize but I was given Paul's (the owners) personal line. I explained to him my situation and he was beyond accommodating and informative in terms of telling me my options. I contacted the dispatcher and told them I had spoken to Paul and they were incredibly accommodating in terms of sending a technician at the time best for me (even though I gave them less than three hours notice). While I walked home to meet the technician that would end up being Paul I gave it one last try and called the taxi company that I left my keys in. The woman forwarded me to the DC taxi lost and found which was unfortunately closed but I had my hopes up and thought that maybe I would have some luck the following day (I also hesitated at spending a lot of money as a grad student). I called Paul despite the fact that it was less than ten minutes before he was expected to show up and he told me he was already parked around the corner. I asked him for his opinion about maybe waiting a day to see if my keys turn up and he was so nice and even said he understood my stance about hoping to save money. I'm sure it wouldn't have been ideal to have me cancel last minute but he very honestly told me it wouldn't be an issue and that he would understand. Customer service points x 10000000000000000000. Fast forward to his actual arrival and re-keying of my locks. He was quick and efficient and even entertained my dumbfounded intrigue at how locks work. Such a nice man and was so easy to talk to while he did his work. I actually was hoping it would take longer because I enjoyed our conversation so much. I really don't think the Yelp character limit is enough for me to accurately articulate how impressed I was with this service. My one regret is that in my rush home I didn't get a chance to stop at the bank to get cash for a tip because lord knows this guy deserved it. Paul to the rescue! After calling several different locksmiths who didn't return my call and actually being stood up by one, I was desperate. I called Pop-o-lock late Saturday afternoon and by Sunday morning my lock was fixed. About 30 min after calling the main number Paul called me back from my his cell and asked me to send him some pics of my lock, which I sent Saturday evening. I received a call from him Sunday morning and within a few hours he was at my place fixing my lock. He was very nice and professional and explained the lock mechanism and what he was doing to fix it. I highly recommend Pop-A-Lock. On Saturday at 8 pm, I had numerous items in my hands and walked right out the door. Without my purse. Or my keys. After a quick google search, I found another company that would come within the hour and charge me $185. I decided to give up until the next day when I could find a cheaper service. I called Pop-A-Lock the next morning, and had a full conversation with Paul. He asked what type of lock it was (bottom lock only), and quoted me a price of $89 - less than half of the other guy. Then he explained that there was a 70-80% chance he could get it open without drilling; if that didn't happen it'd be a $20 drilling fee plus lock replacement fee. His employee Mike would be calling me with an estimate. Mike kept me up to date on his timing - an initial estimate plus another call when he left the other job site. And showed up in a branded truck less than two hours from my first call. He popped it open within minutes and was highly professional. I've seen the bad lock guys who don't warn you the lock may break, charge obscene fees, and up sell you on locks. I now have extra keys hidden away, but I feel safer knowing there are guys I can trust without losing an arm and a leg! read more

It will be $98 only which surprised me because I have an experience with $200. Unfortunately the key was totally lost. So he provide a new replacement key for $195.
