Our first time using a pool service, and after less than a couple months, we're very impressed. It's so nice to longer have to worry about cleaning our pool. First time pool owner! I thought by reading a book about pool care would give me a great start, but I forgot about the pool equipment. I happened to mention this to my husbands coworker and she gave me the number for "PoolStar" and they been AMAZING! with this first time pool clueless owner. It took a while for them to reach back (a few days) but they gave me instructions of how to maintain the pool while they were able to come and asses the pool (equipment, chemicals, poll size, and monthly fee). We are first time pool owners who tried to manage the pool care ourselves when we moved in to our new house. Well, surprise surprise! Didn't take long to start seeing algae in our previously crystal clear pool. We had seen the PoolStar truck in our neighborhood and saw they had a good rating here on Yelp so we have them a call. One good thing about these guys - they do communicate well. However, I feel like if they aren't going to get that extra buck out of you, they will move on. Some detail: I had 3 issues needing fixed. Just to be totally upfront. 1. Mesquite tree- issue brought up - I paid my landscapers to remove but it took me about 2 weeks. 2. Pool pump - broke under poor supervision of previous pool tech (it was installed brand new 10 months prior under HIS service. Then it got plugged up, and my tech did not repair it, and therefore it failed.) Bought and installed a brand new pump again - but i bought the wrong input size, 1.5" when system was piped and fitted for 2". 3. Pool filters - replacing, had them cleaned during their service by BOTH techs my silly butt had working. Paid both. BAD thing, they kept trying to have me do extra work, when I had them plus another pool cleaning company coming during the months I had them working for me. AND the way that they ended service - after 2 MAYBE 3 months of service they shot me an email about the repairs needing done (my home warranty was going to repair these issues) and two minutes later, shot me an email saying due to too many routes they had to cut me from their service. I felt lied to. DON'T TAKE ON A NEW CLIENT IF YOU WILL CANCEL ON THEM 2 MONTHS IN! SMH. Either way, for the money i was spending - you're better off going with someone who can actually clean and offer repairs as Poolstars does NO REPAIRS. read more

Had same issue as another reviewer, inconsistent pool servicing. Some weeks 20+ minutes including tile scrubbing. Other weeks in and out within 5-10 minutes tops. 1 week was so poorly serviced that I could still see a thick brown layer of dirt on the top step and wet deck when I went outside 15 minutes after he left. Another inconsistency is with their scheduling. Had them for 7 weeks now, and the company has rescheduled our cleaning day 3 times already. They claim to add muriatic acid as needed in order to keep our pH levels in the ideal range, but I have never seen them add acid. I work from home and even have a security camera pointed at the pool. I have even tested it with a Pentair Rainbow pH and CL testing kit. The results were in the -8.2 range which is pretty high, yet they assured me the pH was a perfect 7.4 reading. Pool was just serviced yesterday, so I am bringing a sample of the water to Leslie Pool Supply or Swim In Pool Supply Co to see what the real deal is. Yesterday's service was not a good experience. We just had fresh concrete steps poured in our backyard yesterday, our technician came to service our pool and walked and dragged equipment over 5 of the steps. The color was clearly several shades darker than the concrete driveway leading up to the steps. It was noticeably wet concrete. Although, this wasn't the real issue as we can get them fixed. The problem is we didn't receive any courtesy notice making us aware of this so that we could still get it fixed before it dried. Instead, we found out on our own and now they'll have to come back and jackhammer out the steps, re-form and re-pour. To make matters worse there was no remorse, a simple apology would have sufficed. Instead, they pointed fingers at us saying "there was no wet paint (cement) sign" and gave us excuses "I only stepped on it for a moment so it should be fine." I assure you it does not look fine. read more

My pool was built by a very reputable local company with the very best reviews and they did an amazing job. The company they used to start up the pool after installation is Poolstar. This is my second Vegas pool and I have never had a great experience with pool care companies. Ownership might be great but the guys they hire to do the actual service are not so great. I decided to continue with Poolstar due to the glowing reviews. My work does not allow me much time to do pool care and I wanted a company that would look after the pool properly so I didn't have to worry about it. At first there were no issues. Kevin would respond quickly to my texts. This is the second summer of pool use and it has been awful. First, when we were ready to swim this summer we looked at the valves that send water to the solar on the roof and they didn't look right. I had been told that if you ran your pool with valves improperly set it could damage the pipes. I sent Kevin very clear photos of the valves labelled number one and number two and asked which setting was correct. I followed his instructions even though it didn't really make sense. Luckily the service person came the next day and caught the error. Kevin had me set the valves wrong and it could have been a disaster. Next, Kevin does not give you a way to contact the person who services your pool so there is zero communication. After service there are zero emails, zero texts, zero cards on the door, zero any communication about what was done and what needs attention. They could shock the pool in the morning and you would swim in it that afternoon without any knowledge. My wife has developed severe skin problems from the pool this summer. We always noticed that the floor cleaning pop ups didn't seem to open correctly and the pool bottom was always dirty but I assumed if there was a problem they would tell me. I have since realized that the pool pop ups are not working and the valve gate that drives water through the pop ups has a broken gauge and is also broken. The pool service person never noticed. I have since moved on to a company where the owner does all the servicing, he takes water samples to have it properly analyzed, and he leaves a card on the door or emails/texts after every service call. I always know what was done and what's going on. read more

Terrible service. Tech that came out to empty and clean my pool started filling it when it was still dirty. He didn't even bother to clean out the deep end. Then he told me my pump was broken but turns out he didn't know how to operate it properly. It took them two weeks to try and make right the horrible job they did and it still isn't cleaned completely. Tech didn't even disposed of the trash skimmed from the pool. He just left it in piles all around the pool. Then he changes the auto setting on my pump to run for 10 hours straight in the middle of the day. Was he trying to overheat my pump and run up the electric? I told Kevin the owner my disatisfaction about the work his team did and he didn't even bother to write me a reply. He doesn't seem to care as long as he gets paid which he repeatedly asked me for before even completing the half-ass job they did. STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY!!! Communication is terrible with them and their work is even worse than the service! With all of the other pool companies out there you would be better choosing someone else. They also did not answer the phone when I called and would call back whenever they felt like it. I fired them in July and started with Pool Star on August 1, 2019 after reading many positive reviews. Pool Star spends 25-30 minutes each week using a vacuum and net and does an excellent job. They also answer the phone when I call and it is a pleasure to deal with Cody and Kevin.
