I am writing this review with absolute fury after being completely ripped off by Polestar Pool Service. This company took advantage of me during one of the most vulnerable periods of my life, and I cannot warn people strongly enough to stay far away. A very good friend highly recommended Polestar after I admired his beautifully maintained pool. The owner (or representative) I spoke with had a charming British or Australian accent and gave a delightful, detailed pitch about their professional service. Impressed by my friend's results and his promises, I signed up. At first, while I was living at the property, things seemed fine. I was diagnosed with cancer. I had to leave my home again for roughly five months to undergo continued life-saving treatment. I trusted Polestar to care for my large swimming pool and attached hot tub. Big mistake. While I was fighting for my life, their technicians were barely showing up. Surveillance footage shows them spending just 5-10 minutes (at most 15) per weekly visit on a massive pool system that requires real work. When I finally returned home, I was greeted by a disgusting green swamp. Severe algae coated everything. The pool equipment was filthy, the filters were neglected, and the landscaping was littered with pool debris they couldn't even be bothered to clean up. I have photos showing the shocking level of neglect -- a once-clear pool turned into an algae-infested mess, debris dumped across my property, and equipment caked in grime. It takes me a solid 30+ minutes of hard work to properly brush walls and floor, skim, clean filters, and maintain the system. Their "service" was a pathetic joke. When I contacted the owner, he reluctantly credited me for one full month of service. Getting any real accountability or proof of service was like pulling teeth. He assured me the pool would be taken care of, yet every time I had to leave again for medical reasons, I returned to the same green nightmare. The pool kept turning green with algae and debris. After repeated failures and back-and-forth, I fired them. I refused to let them step foot on my property again. I then hired a new pool professional. Within a short time, he treated the algae properly, cleaned everything thoroughly, and left the pool sparkling clean. He actually maintains the equipment, cleans up after himself, and does real work -- the complete opposite of Polestar. In total, Polestar siphoned a lot of money from me for doing virtually nothing except show up for 10 minutes, let the pool turn into a biohazard, and leave a mess. Their neglect was breathtaking. I waited almost a year after these events to write this review. I wanted to ensure I wasn't reacting purely out of raw emotion or in the heat of the moment, and I gave myself plenty of time to cool down. Yet even after all this time, reflecting on the experience still hurts deeply -- because it's clear they knowingly took advantage of me while I was fighting cancer and away from home. Bottom line: Polestar may perform adequately when the homeowner is watching, but the moment you leave your property -- especially if you're dealing with serious health issues -- you will be abandoned and robbed. This is not a service; it's a scam dressed up with a nice sales pitch. I cannot recommend Polestar under any circumstances. Save yourself the money, frustration, and property damage. this is the first time hiring someone to take care of the pool. I just got to be too much for me and I couldn't keep up with it so I called around and these guys seem to be reasonably priced. I made an appointment with them. I didn't have to be home the gates open so they can go in and take care of it, which is a real convenience for me because we work so much. he's been doing it for three weeks now and the pool looks fantastic. When I go out to swim I don't have to worry about anything I just step in. The Pool Professionals at Pool Star are truly professionals, that take pride in their work. I had another pool service who worked well the first six months, then service went downhill from there as they increased their business, hired young kids and did the typical 7 minute "Splash & Dash" and my pool suffered from there out with poor chemical management and cloudy water. Pool Star took over in June and my water is "Crystal" and all the chems are in balance, our pool is vacuumed on every service each week, and our pool tech really scrubs the sides of our pool and the tile. Our Pool Tech spends 18-20 minutes each time he is at our pool and what I love most, Ryan shows up each week on time and you can tell he takes pride in his work. When I moved into my home 7 years ago it came with a pool company that had been looking after the pool since it was built in 2004. I was happy with the service until unfortunately the owner of the (one man) company had to retire from pool maintenance. I researched on the internet and found PoolStar and decided to give them a try. That was about 6 months ago. They were a little more expensive than I had been paying but then my bill hadn't gone up for 6 1/2 years with the last company so I was fine with the new cost. My wife said after the first visit that she was very happy with the pool. It did look extremely clear and clean after that visit and so we hoped the change would work out. Since then I have been very happy with PoolStar. They show up every week as planned and our pool looks great (except for when all these damn leaves shed. I know the only cure for that is chopping down the trees but Wife won't hear of it I recommend PoolStar if you are looking for a solid pool company that has reasonable pricing and very good, reliable service. read more

I had a bad experience with my previous pool service. Her negligence caused one of my pipes to expand and then burst. Half my pool drained into my neighbors yard. The pipe had to be replaced and wasn't under warranty because it was human error. The valves had been turned in the wrong direction and the pressure continued to build up until the pipe burst. I was reluctant to find another service after that.
