While he was doing the work, he found problems with earthquake safety and the pad for our air conditioner, which he fixed. He worked on many projects in our yard in a two month period including the following: -new fire pit (which included demolishing old fireplace that was not built properly) -new steps into the back yard (to replace the one concrete step that was not safe) - new pavers for the front yard which replaces the driveway and the side yard (which included demolishing the driveway) - new rock wall bordering the front yard on the side and in front -new rock veneer on either side of the garage -new column mailbox -new walking path on the north side of the house with stepping stones (which included removing concrete that had been stored there) -new pad for the air conditioner on the north side -new concrete to shore up the pillars in front of the house to make the house safer for earthquakes -new redwood garden bed on the south side with mushroom compost -new pavers on the south side that match the ones in the front including a patio where we can put a table and chairs -moving the flagstone and putting it deeper into the ground while adding more flagstone in the backyard to make it safer and also more practical for us. -removing flagstone bench which we didn't like. He and his crew were very talented. They used high quality materials and their craftsmanship was top notch. They took the time to do it right and did not use shortcuts. He was an excellent communicator and willing to answer any questions we might have. He assured us that he was not finished until we were satisfied with the results. He has many years of experience in masonry and it showed. We were constantly adding on as we found new areas that needed improvement. He was flexible and willing to work with us. He worked with the suppliers to ensure that we would get the materials as soon as possible. Our house was the talk of the neighborhood as everyone came by to admire the results. We were very happy with everything he did. There are before and after pictures below so you can see the difference in how our yard looks. We would highly recommend him.

Several family members lost their homes in the fire, and we were so happy with the work Tarantino's Yardscapes did on the first house that we hired them to do two other homes as well. Rick has a very artistic eye when it comes to positioning plants and boulders, and his dry creek beds are the best I have seen. Rick's crew installed stone walkways, built 4'x8' redwood planter boxes, and constructed trellises for vines and flowering shrubs. The crew members are hardworking and efficient; It is clear they care about their work. Chris, the crew lead, is a skilled craftsman who can build a variety of architectural landscape features. His raised-bed planter boxes at two of the homes are beautifully designed and precisely built. Rick and his crew are easy to work with and willing to do whatever the homeowner wants. I highly recommend them to anyone looking for a landscape contractor in the Sonoma County / North Bay Area.

It's been a major project and quite stressful at times, but Rick's patience, expertise and commitment to the job have really helped. We talked to multiple Santa Rosa landscapers and Rick had a great combination of reasonable pricing plus landscaping expertise, helping us understand which plants will best achieve the look we need while also understanding how they will grow/last in the various light/shade/weather/seasons etc. that you have to take into account. Rick also helped refer us to the right area nurseries and stone resources to help pick the right materials. We found Tarantino's as they were highly recommended by a local landscaping materials company.

Howard was very helpful in helping us and we quickly moved away from tile to a more natural Travertine stone in silver/white that came in four sizes and addressed the natural/random pattern look we were after. We also found a perfect gas fired wood stove in a catalog from their suppliers; Eldorado Outdoor. Best of all, Howard recommended a fantastic installer I cannot recommend highly enough. The somewhat oddly named Asapp Pro Hardscape and Masonry. Cesar and his team of excellent professionals not only removed the old deck, but also took out the old 1950s cracked concrete below it prior to pouring/leveling a new concrete foundation for our new Patio. We could not be happier with the results. Photos are posted in my Yelp review of Asapp Pro. SBI's weakness does not lie in price/value but rather in communication of the status of your materials. In order to get answers/direction I had to pester them and also point out the msrp of the fire bowl we chose was half what they were initially going to charge us. But, the results are outstanding so I recommend SBI with a caveat that you may well find yourself pestering them as well as proactive communication of material status is not their strong suit.

The amount of inventory and quality is impressive. Its variety is what I liked best, along with the knowledgable, helpful staff. They don't have large slabs of stone for the hearth (we need more than 13 ft by 5ft) and planned to use two pieces not a dozen.
