I didn't use this business. I purchased a house in Santa Rosa with a pool but haven't moved to town yet so I'm handling all my house stuff from out of state. Johnson offered a month of free maintenance and after that it would be something like $175/month. As we were working out how they would get access to the pool (my realtor would meet them at the house or they could pick up a key at his office.) Tony suggested installing a key box for the combination and sent a quote for doing so. I thanked them for the suggestion and said I would consider it when I arrived in a few weeks. An email from the maintenance staff said they had access to the property and would go ahead with the maintenance the next day. But Tony emailed saying, "Ellen refused to install a lock box...We will not service this pool unless there is a lockbox in place." I decided to find a company that would be easier to deal with. read more

We purchased our first hot tub from this location at the end of 2016. Great experience from the initial visit to the setup. Our sales rep was on top of things. He even came after the delivery to ensure the setup, the fill and chemicals were on mark. Fast forward to today. After our loss from fire we decided to return to this location because of our wonderful experience to purchase another tub. Our sales rep was knowledgeable and helped us choose the right hot tub for our family back in the early part of 2021. Fast forward 5 mos. of waiting, and unfortunately, our tub was delivered with minor damage. Our sales rep informed us and sent pictures. I'm the end everything worked out. This where I decrease the stars. Day of delivery came, the guys had a hard time getting it to our backyard. Took my husband to assist, no worries. Gave us all the paperwork that included simple directions on the initial start up. Since we had the great experience from 2016, we were expecting potentially similar experience with follow through. We waited to fill until our electrician was done that same day. My husband sent an email mid-day asking about filling it and any other instructions regarding the initial start up since our sales rep was quick to respond with damage issues and balance due prior. We waited till the next day, Saturday to move forward on our own as no response was received. We got it going, but the fact that we have never received a response a week later via email or a phone call to ask how things are going is poor customer service follow through. Maybe due to Covid they don't do house calls, fine but a simple phone call would have worked to at least acknowledge the email. As a customer, we shouldn't be seeking help or inquiring about the initial setup on a high cost item as a hot tub. Yet they were quick to let us know we had a balance due at time of delivery. The hot tub is beautiful and still working on balancing the chemicals, but we won't be back to this location for anything else. read more

We were in the middle of a landscaping renovation and discovered a pool leak. The only place that had a weekend pool service was Johnson Pool. I called and Brady answered, he immediately sent out his tech, Miguel. While unable to diagnose the leak, Miguel found our filter pump was not working properly. Over the next couple days the pump stopped working. Miguel found the issue, however the part was on back order. Brady communicated with us through email and phone calls and found we were under warranty. He helped us get the documents we needed then went to bat for us with Jandy. He was able to get us a new pump and had Miguel and the service team install it in by the end of the week. This kept our pool from turning into a swamp in the middle of summer. Brady and his entire service team are extremely professional, dedicated and caring. Brady communicated everything and kept us up to date while his service team of techs completed the task efficiently and quickly. While it was a bit of a lead time to get on the schedule (given how many people wanted pools during the pandemic), it turned out to be a blessing in disguise, as our house build ended up way behind schedule. Alex and Aaron walked us through the whole design process, and stayed in constant contact with us while we waited through the winter months. They even watched the weather super closely so that we could start construction when it looked like there would be a long enough break. The whole project was on budget, and they worked extremely quickly and without any unnecessary delays (wish I could say that about my other contractors!). After three years of dealing with the rude service team at JP&S, we finally cancelled our contract. We hope that Tina and Matt will assume more direct ownership as the rogue service department led by Oggie and his subordinate Jeremy has destroyed the Healdsburg community's faith in JP&S. I only wish we'd been looking at JP&S's Yelp reviews before as all the recent single star reviews highlight the same concerns: low quality service, high prices, and rude technicians. Why cancel now? A critical piece from our pool literally exploded apart shortly after one of JP&S's technicians repaired part of our pool They had no clear explanation for what happened and were uninterested in researching what had gone wrong. When we purchased our home we continued existing service of our pool, spa, and fountain with Johnson Pool & Spa. After over a year we can say they overcharged and underperformed. At least twice a month there were issues with debris left in the pool, scum on the walls of the spa, and filthy water in our fountain. The two technicians who have provided service were not trained or capable and frankly did not seem to care about the poor condition. Lately, they have damaged our equipment and appeared clueless about how to properly maintain our systems. All this for ridiculous prices for labor and markup on supplies. The service manager Jeremy does not take responsibility instead offers all sorts of excuses for the deplorable work. Don't walk, RUN away from this company. read more

I was the project manager for a pool remodel in Sonoma, CA. Johnson Pool and Spa did the remodel and transformed an old and unsightly pool into a beautiful, like-new pool. We took the surface down to its base and replaced the coping and tile, not to mention all the pool equipment and solar. Everyone I encountered was extremely responsive and thoroughly nice. Aaron, our first contact, had great ideas and was very helpful. Zack, who ran the construction project, was always available on a moment's notice and fabulous to work with. Now that we have completed the project, I am finding the maintenance and repair departments equally as great. Even though it took a long time (for me) to get an appointment for the service I needed, I felt that everyone at Johnson was doing their best during these difficult times to get the parts I needed for my pool. Deliveries of parts are obviously taking longer. Today was my big installation day when Ryan and Miguel put in the handle rail on my pool which will allow me, and guest, to exit the pool safely. From arrival to departure these men did a great job. I went in about a month ago to talk about pool service for my pool and couldn't help but look around at the beautiful spas. I was greeted by Allen when I arrived. He was very knowledgeable about water balancing, spa care and what each spa had to offer. They had jacuzzis at a lot of price points. So my guess is something for everyone. I ended up buying the Caldera Geneva. It's a big purchase for us and of course tons of questions which Allen had no problem in answering and explaining everything. Funny thing is these new jacuzzis don't require much work on your part at all. So after I bought the spa, Allen set up a reasonable delivery time which I think was just short of 2 weeks and called a few times to communicate the time of arrival. The delivery team they sent was very skilled. It was tricky to get the hot tub where we needed it and no damage to anything in the process. So after we got power hooked up it was hot enough to get in that evening. I think the best thing about this purchase is the family time with the kids. No phones, internet or distractions. I bought a new hot tub from the Sonoma County Fair last August and the dealer is in Rohnert park. I live near Windsor. Johnson's pool and spa is a three minute drive from my house, so I tried them out when I was having trouble with my water. I have well water and was having a lot of trouble getting the metal out of the water. I was also having trouble maintaining the PH, etc. My experience with their staff in the show room has been amazing. I first started working with Tyler, and he helped me a lot with the Ph, etc. Next I started working with Lacy and she ended up helping me figure out how to get this tub to stay clean. I have always heard you should not use soft water in a hot tub, but there is a way to do that using calcium. Anyway, Lacy is amazing. She now has my hot tub sparkling clean and clear! My wife and I were deciding between replacing our 16 year old Hot Springs Jetsetter hot bub, which stopped working with the same model. After looking at the new Jetsetter they have made only minor changes after 16 years, which was how old ours was and was left by the previous owners. We selected the Caldera Spa as we had one in my previous house which worked without any problems for over 14 years! Johnson Pool and Supply is the authorized dealer for Caldera. I called them to see if they had the model I was looking for and not only did they but they were selling a floor model, that included the cover, steps, maintenance supplies and a surround sound stereo at a great price! We worked with a salesperson named Lin and she was very helpful during the sales process! The Hot tub also included free delivery and installation, The crew did a very professional job of delivering it and placing it exactly where we wanted it! The sale also included having one of the owners, Aaron, to provide us with a "tour" if how to use and maintain our spa! During the electrical installation our contractor had a question which took one call to Aaron and he quickly resolved the install question. I also mentioned to a friend of mine about my new spa and he said he was very happy with his hot tub he purchased several years ago from Johnson Pool & Spa Supply. Also to note that Watkins Johnson, (not related), is the same manufacturer of both Hot Springs and Caldera Spa's. Our new Kauii tub has 27 jets vs 13 on the latest Jetsetter.... We are very pleased with our decision not only on the type of hot tub we purchased but dealing with everyone at Johnson Pool & Spa Supply! Also the store has a tremendous inventory of products for both pools, spas, swim suits and more, great showroom and knowledgeable staff! Where to even begin. We have a pool that was installed by Johnson a little less than 5 years ago. They have been "maintaining" the pool since. In that time numerous things with the pool have failed. First the cover failed - it discolored and started deteriorating and then the rope that is used to open and close it broke and the springs popped. The pool was unusable during the middle of the summer for 7 weeks. Coverstar - the cover manufacturer - did cover it under warranty. Then one of their pool service people left all the lids off the pumps and the units were allowed to run dry for about a week. Afterwords one of the pumps started making a terrible noise and shakes when it runs. Johnson claims that was a coincedence but offered to give us a deep discount on a new Jandy pump. (that was last summer when said pump was only 4 years old) We looked up the prices of that pump and could buy it cheaper online!! It has never been fixed and runs this way to this date. I finally had a different pool company come and look at it. Not only do I need a new pump but they feel something is wrong with the lines and will have to do some testing. Just lately the pool started using quite a bit of sale so the service repair person decided to turn the pool auto refill off to see how much water the pool would loose in a week. He turned that off but left all the filters running. They ran dry, got hot, made electrical switches in my box flip and fried the back of my electrical box to the pool. Consequently the lions that are supposed to squirt water don't because the wire to them was fried as well. Johnson's pool guy said "oh, that is just a coincedence." No. I had someone else check it out and it is YOUR fault!! Oh.. and after all of that there was a leak. The leak was in the area in front of the pool filter basket due to the fact that the seam between the pool and that basket was done poorly. I had to pay another company to come and fix that leak. Aaron of Johnson said in a comment on yelp "When we make a mistake, we fix it." No.. you ignore the customer long enough that they just get it fixed by someone else because it is painful to deal with your company. And.. as I was telling them I didn't want to use them any more they were telling me I owe two months of service. I'll pay those bills because I am an honest person. They will never cover any of the things they screwed up because they are not an honest business!! read more

WOW ! Talk about great customer service.. We are off to a great start with Johnson pool. Made one phone call and had an appt. set up for 2 days later. Tech was right on time and VERY knowledgeable. Took his time to explain many aspects of owning a pool ( 1st pool for us ) And was happy to answer any of my many many questions!! "Oggie" is a stand up guy! They also sent over (the very next day) a service tech to check out the system and pool.. Got a phone call the moment they were done and he too was VERY helpful with explaining the details and taking the extra time "Ryan" has it together as well... I wish I wrote this review a few years back. We had our pool installed by Johnson Pools. We are incredibly frustrated and disappointed in the overall pool installation experience. They made so many gross errors in the installation it was ridiculous! My husband had to project manage every detail because they were totally incompetent. And whenever he found something wrong the Johnson Pools manager Randy was defensive and rude. They did fix all of their errors, including having to jack hammer out the bottom of our pool because they did not make it at the correct depth for our diving board. My husband even supplied them with the manufacture engineered specifications to make sure they knew that it had to be at the exact depth for safety. Honestly, I would never recommend them. read more

Since purchasing our house last year, I've been dealing with many different contractors and technicians. As you would expect many don't show, some do lousy work and others are out to rip you off wherever they can. And every once in a while you come across a business that you feel is honest, reliable, and reasonable in their rates. Working with Johnson pool from their maintenance staff to their construction has been fantastic. First, they answer their phones and respond to their emails (which is my preferred method of communication). They have never stood me up on an appointment and I don't feel like they are trying to up sell me. They have taught me a lot about pool and spa maintenance such that I can do some of it myself. They didn't care when i cancelled it during the winter and are just as happy to talk to you again in the spring when you need help. Overall 5 stars for this business - which is refreshing to come across when it seems so many people are just out to make a fast buck off a city slicker with a vacation house in Sonoma. read more

God why didn't we yelp these guys sooner? Initial impressions were good; they inspected the pool on a house we bought on the referral of our real estate agent. Personable guy gave good advice and a good assessment for the real estate transaction, and my wife and I felt like they were a good fit for us since we didn't know much about pools and this one needed a steady hand to bring the equipment into this century. A We signed up for the monthly service and bought a sweep which they put in and it worked great. Seemed a little pricey, but hey we needed it right? B After a month or so, we decided to add a heater so we could use a spa...the price was expensive but we knew we needed it and just figured thats what things cost. We contracted with them to put in the heater. Then during the install, they contacted us and told us that the filter had failed so now we had to add a new filter too. This added a significant amount to an already high number and we had the nerve to do an equipment search online to see what this stuff cost. Then we asked if we could get a break since we hadn't counted on that extra expense. Nah. Not happening. D So we get up there after the install of the new filter system and the guy calls my wife while she's at a client meeting and tells her that its all in and good to go. She explains she can't talk can he please write down the instructions. Didnt' seem like a lot to ask after $8k, so we get up there that night and find his hand written instructions. D She is following those brilliant instructions and they aren't working; she calls the company to double check the instructions, she's told they are gone for the weekend...damn, no spa for super bowl...bummer. F Emails were lobbed back and forth that weekend to try to salvedge it and they basically said they would only come out the during M-F working hours...even though we aren't there except weekends and they knew that ...F So we hire another guy (who we found on Yelp) who comes out and goes over all of it with us step by step and points out that those brilliant instructions left off a key step. And that the valve that basically controls the heating is completely shot. So obviously they never even tested the freaking equipment. Fantastic. F Oh yeah, forgot our Invoice for all the work was in the mailbox before the equipment was even installed. A for that. We just really wish we had checked Yelp earlier...sounds like others had the same shite service we got. We found a great guy on Yelp who is doing it all so much more reasonable and has fixed all the stuff that Johnson missed. read more

When I ordered my spa in the beginning of August I was told they would have the spa in three weeks and we would have it within 5. It is now week 8 and I am writing this review as I sit here at 5:30pm waiting for the spa that was supposed to be delivered between 2 and 4. I am now told it may be here by 6:30. The folks at Johnson Spa are not taking responsibility for their sub contractors lack of service and are making nothing but excuses with no offer of compensation for vacation time used and time spent waiting. I should have known we had made a poor choice in where to buy a spa when nobody in the store could answer my questions about materials for the pad. Or how long the power cord would be.
