Cute little place with some good beer. Dog friendly too! Pretty simple place- we loved it!

Really excited to try Pontoon Brewing since they just opened a couple weeks ago in Sandy Springs. The brewery is very spacious and they have plenty of sitting area. They have cornhole inside the brewery and a shelf full of board games. We got there on a Friday night an hour before they closed and it wasn't too crowded. They had a good selection of beer on tap. The flight that I ordered consisted of Melon Balla Shandy, Midnight Silver Pecan Pie Nut Brown Ale, Don't Haze Me Bro IPA, and Galaxy Drifter IPA. It's $11 for 4 tasters. My favorite was Midnight Silver and Melon Balla. I also got to try their Beer Cocktail which is their Beermosa. It's an interesting concept and it's pretty tasty. We really liked the Melon Balla Shandy so the bartender used that instead of the Floatation Device Berliner Weisse. We went to Pontoon Brewing on a Thursday night after work to unwind. We chose it because it is right around the corner from our place on Roberts Drive and it had just opened one week prior, so we wanted to try something new. I liked the open space, which I expect will fill up in coming months as more people hear about this place. We tried out several beers, but my favorites were the Freedom Bird and Galaxy Drifter IPA (this was the best). The IPA was crisp and light, but the Freedom Bird had me feeling pretty good after just one 10-oz. You can order beer in three amounts: 4 oz, 10oz and 16oz, but the staff are proactive in letting you try various beers before committing to one. You can also order a flight of four 4-oz beers. There are quite a few stouts on the menu, and I'm looking forward to trying the Black Squall next time. When I read the names of the beers, something felt familiar about them, and later, I realized that the brewery is owned by a fellow UF Gator, who has certainly let the Florida, southern vibe shine through in both the beer flavors, names and the feel of the place. Guests can enjoy games like corn hole. The beer is reasonably priced and staff are extremely friendly and outgoing. Plus, dog parents can bring their pooch to Pontoon! Pontoon is located just off GA 400 at Northridge. It's great to see a brewery in this area to go along with all the new breweries that have opened in Roswell over the last couple of years. As others have mentioned, Pontoon is very open and spacious. They offer flights along with regular pints, so I was able to try all 10 beers that they had on tap at the time. My favorites were: Don't Haze Me Bro NE IPA, Galaxy Drifter IPA, Moscow Mule, and Midnight Sliver Pecan Pie Nut Brown Ale. The bartenders were very nice and enthusiastic about the beer. This is my brother's neighborhood brewery so whenever we're up I try to pressure him into us going, at least for one beer. The space is big and spread out with video games to play and tvs to watch. They also have added outdoor seating since covid. Pontoon always seems to be pushing their limits on the beers they make and I love how "out of the box" some of their stuff is. I wish I lived close enough to be able to swing in on a random Thursday or Monday when they drop some limited beer that I know I'll never get down in Perry. Highly under rated ATL brewery in my opinion. read more

This is a newer brewery in the Atlanta metro area that's off to a strong start! I've been here quite a few times because the atmosphere is good, the bartenders are nice, and it's not usually too crowded, so I feel comfortable bringing my dog and letting him enjoy the afternoon with us! I don't necessarily have a complaint; it's more so a suggestion. Pontoon is really good about always coming up with new beers and working on collaborations, but I wish they would spend more time investing in a consistent line up. I think this would help with brand recognition; I know I've had quite a few of their beers, but I honestly can't name one. I love to try new stuff, but sometimes I want to return to my favorites and it's a little disappointing if their core beers are getting pushed off the taps by their beer of the week. I admire their enthusiasm to always try out new brews, but some consistency would be really nice and I think it would help them establish a name for themselves. read more

I wish I could give Pontoon 3.5 stars. The environment is great - nice string/cafe lights, big space, and plenty of seating. There's definitely a few solid beers on the menu: Hazy River and Helios. I'd 100% buy those again. Helios was my fav - dry with mild acidity. But as a total package offering, I felt the flavors were lacking comprehensively. Their house staple-Heech Bier Blonde-lacked flavor in my opinion (Ie seemed to watery.) On a surprising note as someone who doesn't gravitate towards sours, the flotation device (tart cherry & pineapple) was a solid sour, especially for this hot ATL heat. It's a complex, tart and beautiful blend of flavors but I also love pineapple. As far as the current seasonals, I'd skip them. The notes of beer-chugs-n-harmony are so strong, I couldn't finish it. read more

So excited this place is up the road! I can see us walking up here A LOT in the summer/spring/fall. The special cask Samoanut Cookie was probably the best beer I've ever had in my entire life. I wish it was permanent. Very cool atmosphere. We look forward to coming back when it's not quite as crowded...perhaps bring some Uno cards and play some corn hole. Only complaint is that many of the beers I saw people holding were very foamy. That could've just been because they were so busy though. read more

TLDR: First of hopefully many great breweries in Sandy Springs. With the laws improving for Georgia craft beer with the passing of SB85 last September, it's no surprise that more and more breweries are popping up in and around the Atlanta area. With the grand opening of Pontoon Brewing three weeks ago, Sandy Springs finally has its first microbrewery. Pontoon is right off of 400 in an industrial/business park (think Jekyll, Red Brick, etc.) in Sandy Springs, and if you don't Uber, Lyft, etc. here, there should be plenty of parking right next to the brewery. There's a pop up canopy right outside the main entrance, so you can't miss it. One of the first impressions I got when I walked in was that Pontoon has a really nice space for their taproom. They have room for quite a few people here and there's stuff to do all over the place, including board games, cornhole, and TV to watch the game. Pontoon's beer list consisted of 9 taps, one beer cocktail, and one cask beer. The cask beer changes every weekend and it's probably going to be more of an experimental beer with trying out different combinations of flavors. Some of the beers are more traditional to the beer style, while others are much more forward thinking beers. I think it's a good mix for the both the craft beer drinker and non craft beer drinker alike. In case you can't commit to just one beer, you can always get a smaller pour (4 oz or 10 oz), or get a flight of four 4 oz beers for $11. Since it is a new brewery, I did want to try multiple beers so I went with a flight of: - Galaxy Drifter IPA - Midnight Sliver Pecan Pie Nut Brown Ale - Don't Haze Me Bro NE Style IPA - Melon Balla Shandy At the very least, I thought all four were pretty good. They weren't the best I've ever had, but I really enjoyed them, especially the Midnight Sliver and the Melon Balla. I personally really like pecan flavor with brown ales and I thought Pontoon did a good job with Midnight Sliver. The Melon Balla, which is a shandy beer with watermelon, honeydew, pineapple, and mango, is a beer I can see becoming really popular in the summer. You can really taste the melon in this shandy. If it sounds good to you, the Beermosa on their menu uses the Flotation Device Berliner Weisse as the base beer. However, I would substitute the Floatation Device with the Melon Balla - it's a delicious drink. I love how much more affordable the prices are here. Some pints are as low as 3.50 and many of the 10 oz pours are between $2-$4. Don't forget to check in here and you'll get $2 off. Overall, I think this is a great addition to the Atlanta craft beer scene and it's definitely a brewery worth checking out. read more

Pontoon Brewing is a new brewery in the upper Sandy Springs area off GA 400. The brick and mortar spot is new but Pontoon is not new to the Atlanta area. Although they are still advertising themselves in a soft opening period they are open and accepting customers. They are located in an office park across the street from the QT gas station so parking is not a problem. They are street facing so don't be like me and drive around all over the place looking for it. They currently offer their signature beer, No Pants Pilsner, as well as Galaxy Drifter American IPA, Midnight Sliver Pecan Pie Nut Brown Ale, Freedom Bird American Strong Ale and a Bourbon Barrel Aged (BBA) version, Flotation Device Berliner Weiss and Black Squall Russian Imperial Stout. As with any brewery I am sure they will continue to introduce new beers so YMMV. But from this selection my favorites were the Flotation Device and the BBA Freedom Bird. I went with a few beer loving friends and out of the current draft selection, everyone was able to find at least one they liked so Pontoon offers a good selection of beer for varied tastes. Overall I thought the beers were well flavored to the description. For example the BBA Freedom is describes as toasted oak and I got plenty of oak. The No Pants Pilsner is a easy light beer that is definitely crushable when you are hanging out for the day. I appreciate they had the flight option which is priced at $9! so I got to taste the different beers and they will let you taste a sip if you really are not sure what to get. The prices are very reasonable as I had a flight and a 16oz pour and spent $16. Service was great as we were sitting at the table a gentleman would come by and ask us if we wanted a refill of something. He even had a hand held scanner. Talk about convenient! I had a chance to talk to the CEO Sean O and he was really excited about the opening as well as what he wants to see for the future of the brewery. There are some additional breweries not too far and he talked about collaborating with them to do some beer tours and also some stand along events involving the outdoors once it gets warm. He definitely showed the craft beer community spirit and it will be nice to see where the brewery goes. The brewery is very wide open and I don't believe there is an outdoor space. It was cold so we were inside but there is a place to play corn hole and dogs are welcome inside. I am looking forward to seeing what kind of things they do once it gets warm. Really nice environment, and the beer is pretty tasty. My boyfriend and I like to come to this place often, because it is not far from where I live. It is pet friendly, so please bring your fur babies to enjoy the ambiance. My favorite beer is their Moscow Mule beer, but the only offer it for special events. Pontoon Brewing is an interesting vibe, but a needed addition to an area of Sandy Springs off Northridge (exit 6 on 400) that has very few options to drink and hangout. The scarceness of options is seen easily as the brewery is in a renovated office space. When we went I was a little disappointed that the one beer I ordered was out on tap and they did not bother to tell me, but instead just opened a can and gave it to me. If I am going to go to a brewery, I prefer to have one on tap if possible. The Galaxy IPA was a solid IPA with some citrus notes, but overall was just a decent beer that did not blow me away. Inside they had some fun board game options and a few nice corn hole sets. There are picnic tables to congregate around, but the space is very wide open and feels more like somewhere you would hangout at on a Saturday afternoon in the summer (hints the name Pontoon) than a place you would go to for drinks during the winter months. I hope they do well because it does fill a void that is much needed in this area with a pretty good beer to go along with it. read more

My husband and I have been eyeing Pontoon for a while now waiting for it to open. We finally had the chance to try it out this past weekend. There are plenty of parking spaces in front of Pontoon and on the side of the building. The inside is very spacious and open. There are many tables to sit at and places to stand. They have a couple sets of cornhole which I thought was pretty fun. They have a small area of board games to choose from. They also allow dogs inside which is always a plus. Now for the beer. There were a lot of people working, so we didn't have to wait long to order our beer. I ordered the Surf Rock Candy Shandy, and it was pretty good. I ordered a 10 oz for $3.50. My husband ordered the Galaxy Drifter IPA, and I'd say it was pretty average. Nothing to write home about. Something that threw me off was that they had the Galaxy Drifter listed on draft, but when my husband ordered it they poured his beer from one of their cans. I felt like they should have let him know beforehand that it was no longer available on draft. My friend ordered the Flotation Device, and it was incredibly watered down. I'm not sure if there was something going on with the tap or what, but it did not taste very good. Their beer needs some work, but they're new so I feel like in time they'll work out the kinks. Cool craft brewery in Sandy Springs, went there yesterday evening- wishing I had seen the $2.00 off coupon for check-in because who doesn't like to save a buck? Anyways, the place is cool and the atmosphere was laid back- they did have a corn hole area which is fun. It wasn't really noisy which was nice, though that could have been since it was a Thursday night. The beer was awesome; I tried the blonde and Sweet Mild of Mine and my bf tried Galaxy Drifter, Sweet Mild of Mine, and one that tasted like pineapple- unfortunately I don't remember the name. We liked all of the beers that we tried and we'll happily be returning in the future to try others! Went there for the first time on St. Patrick's Day. Two thumbs up for sure! They have several great beers on tap and some good selections to take home in 6 packs. The tasting area is huge. I know it was a holiday but they had 3 different bars running with different beers available on tap and a DJ set up in the front for dancing, All with plenty of seating to go around. Parking was easy and right out front. They had a few food trucks out back selling some pretty killer bites. The world needs more breweries that allow dogs INSIDE the taproom! Pontoon delivers on this front. And oh yeah, they also have great beer and service. We tried a Berliner Weiss, Pecan brown, Strong ale, Horchata stout, and Galaxy Drifter IPA. The taste of the beers was really great considering they just opened. There were several others that looked interesting, but apparently they got swamped on opening day and ran out of many beers. For instance, Galaxy Drifter was only on cans! Raised here in Atlanta - Lake Lanier is always our summer escape and pontoon has hit the nail on the head with their laidback, summer beer vibe (even though we drink it year round). DJ at pontoon was more than accommodating to all of my silly brew questions and has us HOOKED. Came on Easter Sunday and the brew selection, as well as the staff, was awesome! Coming back a couple weeks later on a Friday night was incredibly disappointing. The staff was lukewarm at best, and the selection was not great. The staff seemed annoyed that we wanted to order, even saying that they stopped serving flights after 7pm. True or not, we saw someone else walk out with one 30 minutes later. Will be hard pressed to come back. read more

Tried it out a few days ago as I love local breweries and it's right down the road. Staff and patrons were all very welcoming and friendly. I LOVE that it's pet friendly - I brought my 3 month old puppy and he got SO much love and even met a few other dogs. The guy making pop corn would even give my pup samples. My friend was raving about their zesty Italian pretzels and unfortunately they were out... and then, lo and behold, the bartender had found some sample bags and gave them to me and my friends! (And she was right, they were super tasty.) Beer was really good and they have great variety. I can't remember the name of the beer I liked but I'll edit this next time I go there and find out - and I WILL be back. :) The bar tender, Anthony I think, really knew his stuff about flavor profiles. Pontoon Brewery "Oyster Fest" was a HUGE disappointment. VIP ticket was basically worthless. Beer selection, unless you like IPAs, was bottom of the barrel. The oysters were a strange variety and room temp at best. The whole thing was over hyped and such a let down. And since when are babies (crawling on the floor) and kids allowed in a bar?? Lawrence and Amber are the best they are tenders ever. My favorite beer is the Don't Haze Me Bro followed by the Freedom Bird and then the Flotation Device. Fun vibe, great beers, helpful staff -- a 5 out of 5 if I ever met one! While the location might be a bit hard to find unless you know what you're looking for (it's located in what appears to be an office park), when you find it, there's plenty of parking and inside there's lots of space for drinking in a space with a fun vibe.
