PONKO in Midtown used to be one of those places that was always packed and lively. There was always a crowd, the food felt worth the stop, and I patronized pretty regularly. Unfortunately, since the change in management, the experience just hasn't been the same for me and I rarely come anymore. My usual order has always been the spicy chicken tenders with either rice or fries, or I'll switch it up and get the PONKO Salad with Walnut Cilantro dressing. I'm still a fan of the tenders themselves, but somewhere along the way the portions changed. The tenders now seem like they've basically been cut in half size-wise, yet the price certainly didn't get cut in half with them. LOL. For what you get now, the value just isn't there for me anymore. Then there's the sauce situation. I order the tenders SPICY. Somehow, they regularly end up with the regular sweet sauce instead. If I ask for extra spicy sauce, more often than not it doesn't make it into the order and I have to ask for it AGAIN. At this point, it's happened enough times that it feels more like inconsistency than a one-off mistake. And judging strictly by the atmosphere, something has definitely changed. This location used to be packed and full of energy. Now it's noticeably slower and quieter whenever I stop by. I still like PONKO chicken, which is probably the only reason I haven't completely written this location off. But between the smaller portions, the price for what you get, and repeatedly having to correct something as simple as the sauce, I just don't find myself coming here nearly as much as I used to. If I'm craving those spicy tenders, I may still stop in. I just miss when this location felt like it was worth going out of my way for. read more

They have a few locations around Georgia, and while this is the only one I've been to, I have tried a good portion of their menu from ordering myself or through catering. From the outside, it didn't seem like much, but it was more spacious than expected. It has been busy enough that you may have to take it out, but you should try to eat it as soon as possible unless you've ordered grilled chicken (which taste fine) because you don't want things to get soggy. Service is fine, and the food comes out ~20 minutes. They're most known for their chicken, of course, but I have also tried their tofu tenders. For vegetarians, it's not a bad choice! They seem to use the same batter and sauce flavoring as the chicken, so it's crunchy and tastes good. I prefer either original or spicy, but bbq is also an option, and they let you pick how you would them sauced (like 2 spicy and 1 OG or 1 of each sauce). Original sauce does have a sweetness to it, but it's not like bbq. Spicy isn't really that spicy, and it does taste saltier than the other options. Their sandwich and tacos are similar with the slaw, but the tacos feel less heavy of an option if you don't want to feel the greasiness of the meal. Sometimes though, the flour tortilla cannot support the taco, and it gets very messy very quick, so tacos here aren't really something I'd pick. I usually stick to the plate, but the salads here are pretty good. None of the dressings were bad at least. For their sides, I really like their cucumbers, but the amount they give isn't really worth it to me. The fries are good, and their "foodie flakes" on them provides a nice salty flavor, so if you prefer a crispy chip, you can get that with foodie flakes over the fries. Or get the sweet potato fries. Rice is good if you want to feel fuller or don't want to use your hands to eat. read more

We were in the area and wanted to try a new place. We ordered the 5-piece panko chicken with two sides for $15. We got it naked with the sauce on the side and chose double fries. It took about 10-15 minutes to be ready. The fries were crispy and flavorful. The chicken was crunchy, but it didn't have much flavor without the sauce, and the piece sizes were inconsistent. We got the OG sauce on the side, and they also gave us some ranch. I ended up using the ranch because I didn't love the OG sauce, it reminded me of sushi sauce. The ranch was pretty good, though. It was nice to try a new place, but for the price it felt a bit overpriced in my opinion. We found parking on the street for $2 an hour (minimum time). read more

Ordered the 3 piece chicken plate and got the side of green beans (with extra charge). Food came out fairly quickly and was fresh, but everything was drowning in sauce, the rice was on top of puddle of really sweet sauce that made it practically inedible. The green beans were also covered in so much sauce that I tried to scrape off some sauce before eating each bean. Not sure if this is the norm - but definitely is an area for improvement! Start off from saying first time here and I get any signature dishes. Service was decent, friendly staff. Atmosphere was a little loud because of the house music going on, but maybe that's the norm for this chain. The food wasn't too impressed I ordered the grilled teriyaki chicken with rice both of which had little flavor. However the carrot cake cup was really good and saved the day. The new Ponko Chicken in Newnan, GA -- Tried for first time Sunday, August 09, 2026. Order came to $27.00 for two people. What we got was not worth the price. Partner ordered 8 piece nuggies/spicy with fries and a drink. Chicken fair, dry, but the fries were outstanding!!!! I ordered the 3 piece tenders/BBQ with coleslaw and a drink. My tenders -- not what was pictured on the menu -- asked about -- "yes those are the tenders!!!! They took 3 chicken wings, took the bones out, and placed them in the bowl so they were still in the shape of the wings. They were gone in 3 bites, and very dry. The coleslaw came in a "sample" cup you get from the grocery stores when they are handing out samples!!!! Took a fork full and as it was coming out of this little cup, I had strings of something white and thick hanging, it looked like dripping glue and tasted as bad. The taste was horrid, you could not eat it. Partner tried and spit it out also!!!! And the advertised 22 oz. drinks with combos -- No way!!!! We got 8 oz. drinks!!!! If you had to know one thing about this place it's to GET THEIR BUTTERMILK RANCH Anyway, this is on the expensive side of food available in this area for a college student. But, if you get the plate it is certainly A LOT of food and a lot of delicious food! Their fries are so crispy and thin and well seasoned. Their fried chicken is honestly amazing and very well fried. But again what seals the deal is that their buttermilk ranch is honestly one of my favorite things in the whole world I could drink it straight. It's always an issue and this last time I couldn't even contact a deck attendant to assist me with getting out. The cashier at the restaurant was very rude. First, he was turned away from the counter and after I said hello he still didn't turn to greet me. When I started placing the order on kiosk he finally turned when I was almost done. After he offered to take me order, I let him but that wasn't the end. I went to ask him for an extra ranch and OG sauce for my tofu salad. He goes "You asked for walnut cilantro and you got two dressings, an extra sauce will be extra." I told him I've been to other Ponko's and they will give me extra sauce for free. He goes "They left you get 4-5 sauces?" I told him "They give me what I ask for." First time ever eating at a Ponko Chicken and I liked it. This was the last stop on our bar crawl. There were two bartenders. One bartender kept forgetting people's order and so felt badly for him. The other bartender was picking and choosing who to make drinks form. There was no order whatsoever. The food tasted amazing. I had chicken and a waffle and I loved it. The drinks weren't bad either. They had run out of a lot of things, but I was okay with what I got. I had a pineapple mimosa. Mostly champagne, no juice at all, but it was good. They have an outdoor seating area that was nice. There was food and plates on several tables, but employees tried to keep the areas clean as best they could. The restaurant was packed. I tried the fried pickles too and they were just okay. They were cut in spears and didn't have a lot of breading on them, so it was like eating a hot pickle. I liked the layout of the restaurant. I also got a side of sweet potato fries for $4. The prices are really reasonable. The customer service is great. I ordered sweet potato fries and they gave me regular fries let them know. Sandwich was well cooked and hot as well. For fountain drinks they offer Coke products from a standard machine. SERVICE: Staff was kind and got my order out quickly. One thing I appreciate is how they asked me what options I want for my chicken (bbq, spicy, or sweet original) and actually said it instead of me expecting to know them. It's the little things that matter. AMBIANCE: Plenty of spots to sit at and I imagine it gets busy during peak hours on the weekend. There's a few outdoor seating spots but the area was being pressure washed when I came. There's booths, table tops, and regular tables. There's a modern feel to the store which is different than the one in Chamblee. OVERALL: I recommend and would definitely visit if I wanted something fast casual that wasn't CFA. We had a party of nearly 20-30 people, so the servers & bartenders were very patient with us. The Parking: Be sure to get your parking validated. The Atmosphere: It's a cool little spot. They even had a pianist/singer performing live as people at their meals. Several places to sit and about a 5-6 seat bar. The Food: At the other location, I've only tried their chicken tenders. On this day, I wanted something different. Since Chicken sandwiches are pretty popular these days, I wanted to try theirs. The sandwich is topped with Cole slaw & comes with your choice of a side (mine being French fries). WOW! Ponko should drop their hat in the Top Chicken sandwich discussion, because this thing was SOOOOOO GOOD! I honestly wanted another to take home. I think I've found my "go-to" meal moving forward. I can't see myself ordering anything else besides this chicken sandwich. I also had one of their cookies. It was pretty good. I'm a soft cookie guy and this one is like a crisp, but it wasn't bad at all. Overall, I had a great time & enjoyed the food. I came here for lunch and it was fairly crowded, but I was still able to get in and out. I ordered the OG 3 tender plate, fries, and a side salad. Everything was very good. I love that the tenders had a sweet taste to them and the fries were perfection. I didn't get around to the healthiest item, the salad, because I was just too full. I wish there was an option for one side item because it was just way too much food, but that's first world problems...My meal came up to about 10 bucks which isn't terrible.
