Ponko Chicken is hands-down one of my favorite places to take friends and family when they're visiting and want a quick, delicious bite to eat. Service is always great, parking is easy, and the ambiance is fast casual with indoor and outdoor seating. With multiple locations around the city, the Chamblee location has become my go-to since the Decatur spot closed! I almost always order the 3-piece OG chicken (or 4-piece if I'm extra hungry) with rice, a salad with ranch, or fries, both the regular and sweet potato fries are so good! The chicken is always hot, crispy, flavorful, and consistent. I've also stopped by for brunch before and really enjoyed it, so I'm definitely planning to come back soon to check out happy hour and some of their daily specials. My FAVORITE "fast food" place. When I want to be a slob and get fast to go food, this is my favorite spot. Rice (brown or white) and ponko breaded chicken with their OG sauce is a better healthier choice than hamburger and fries, but still dang tasty, quick, and well priced. Their cucumber pickles are amazing and I wish I had the recipe. I actually also buy the OG sauce by the bottle cause it's amazing on many things. My only complaint is they recently changed the plates to have only ONE side instead of two, but you get a fountain drink instead. I don't drink soda, and I'm well aware it's cheaper for them to give soda than another side dish, and yet the price for the platters are still the same. I'm just tired of everything getting both more expensive and worse quality everywhere, so it's a bummer. :( But still a good deal considering even McDonalds can be pricy these days. read more

Ponko fell from grace. They've always been overpriced chicken tenders but they were decent at one point. Now it's better to get a frozen pack from Costco and air fry them. At least those won't be cold. Our last experience at Ponko, the person behind the counter was so high out of her damn mind that we had to remind her that we already ordered food multiple times, and she just never told the cooks. Once that was settled, half of what we ordered was missing at the tenders we did get was a soggy mess of sadness. But that part was more on par with a Ponkos experience, someone overly moist soggy tenders that cost $15 for 5 of them. When they were new in town and care, they were good. But they stopped giving af awhile ago and this place is awful now. If you're in the area and want chicken tenders just call me or something, don't go here. read more

I have been to Ponko a few times at Lenox Mall some time ago, but I have never been to actual storefront. This location happens to be not even 5 minutes from my home, AND it's the flagship location, which is pretty cool! I didn't know that until I read some of the other reviews here. I was craving a good chicken sandwich, and Ponko delivered! I got the sandwich combo with fries. I got the sandwich to be spicy too. It was SO GOOD. I got it to-go, as I had to get back home, but it travelled well and stayed hot! The portion size was about average. I was still pretty hungry after eating everything, but not a huge deal. I got a side of BBQ sauce as well. But the fries and sandwich tasted really really good! Upon getting my food from the front register attendant, she even asked me if I wanted any additional sauces (free of charge), and I told her I would love the ranch and Ponko (OG) sauce. She was so friendly and was happy to give them to me. While waiting for my food, I did a little walk around the place. This location is honestly, pretty big! They a bar, plenty of tables/booths/high tops, bathrooms upstairs and downstairs, and an outside area in the front where you can sit too! There is also a small condiments section too. I love my visit to this location, and I look forward to coming back! They have a pretty decent sized menu too, so I may try something different the next time! read more

I've been wanting to try PONKO Chicken for a while, so I finally stopped in to see what it was about. First impression -- I really liked the bar area. It adds a nice vibe to the space and makes it feel like more than just a quick grab-and-go spot. The overall setup is clean, modern, and welcoming. The food was good. Nothing that blew me away, but definitely not bad either. Solid, enjoyable, and worth trying at least once. One of the employees stood out in the best way. He may have been the manager, but even if he wasn't, he absolutely had the presence and professionalism of one -- friendly, attentive, and clearly invested in making sure customers had a good experience. Overall, I left satisfied and glad I finally tried it. I wouldn't discourage anyone else from checking it out, though it's probably not a place I'll return to regularly. I ordered for curbside pickup at noon, prime lunch time. However, my meal was prepared within a reasonable amount of time and got when I arrived. Everything was made and seasoned well. The portion size was perfect and I appreciate they package the mushrooms separately. Overall, I give the Fried Mushroom Salad and service - A+ This is my second time visiting this location. I've driven past this establishment many many times and finally came here Feb 10, for early dinner with the husband. The restaurant was empty at 5pm on a Tuesday. But it gradual it started getting a few more customers as we waited for our food. We ordered 2 five piece chicken (1st item on the menu) with 2 sides. I had the plain fixed with no sauce a coleslaw and a side salad. My husband has his with the OG sauce, a coleslaw and potato salad. In the back of the seating area there is a small condiments counter of ketchup, ranch and OG sauce. Soon after our orders came. The 5-pieces are chicken tenders. I love my plain chicken tenders. The panko was light, the tenders were moist and not oily. I dipped my chicken in the OG sauce, it was good! A little sweet and very, very mildly salted. My husband's order came with OG sauce. I believe the tenders were fried and then given a quick drizzle of the sauce - maintaining it's crispiness! Brilliant. The tenders were tasty, crispy not soggy. Well done! All 3 sizes were delicious, we finish then all. We couldn't finish it chicken as he was very filling. More for the next day!! read more

This was a random lunch break. I wanted to try something new! The atmosphere was welcoming and the establishment was very clean. Clean bathrooms and setting areas. The service was quick! I just think this is an acquired taste. Maybe I ordered the wrong things idk. But it just wasn't my cup of tea. Nothing wrong with that at all. This is a go to place for me, my friend and her daughter! I can't seem to order anything but the OG fingers! They are so good! Tonight my friend tried the hot dog - different but yummy! They are always so nice and even remember I don't like pickles! Nice music, the good ice and we play Uno! A great casual evening for the girls! Have gone to other locations, food is always good! My husband and I frequent this location often and have always gotten great service and food. Unfortunately today we didn't have the same experience. Big menu change that (1)heavily promotes combo meals (husband only drinks water). (2)No tenders as protein option with salad. Ended up getting tenders with a side salad. (3) No we didn't want the nuggies. Tried the free sample on a previous visit and neither of us liked them. (3) Tenders were served with marinated cucumber on top. The vinegar marinade and the red peppers on it are both health triggers for my spouse. You may want to warn people or put it on the side. Three stars only because of previous wonderful visits. I was there today - 05/09/26 - restaurant was dirty, counter staff was as surly. Food was maybe OK at best - chicken good, however, very greasy, fries were not hot. Staff member asked me how my meal was, I replied, OK at best, she asked why? I explained, and she argued with me - restaurant had been busy today, she said, as if that is an excuse for the restaurant being dirty. A loooong time ago I would go to their only location which was on Hwy. 78 in Snellville. That closed and I was bummed because I thought that was the end of Ponko. When they re-opened, I was happy as the Chamblee location is much closer to where I reside. I now always patronize their Chamblee location, usually for a pick-up order. This location has a nice vibe and ample parking. As far as the food, the original chicken tenders are hands down the best thing on the menu. Always hot and panko crispy. Other items to try are the rice which is never dry, sweet potato fries and the side salad is really good. Make sure and get the sesame seed dressing for the salad. Its so good I buy it by the bottle for home use. The one menu item I don't care for are the wings. I've had the lemon pepper and the teriyaki, and neither were very good. There was plenty of meat, they were just lacking in flavor and worse, very fatty. They were also really greasy. There is a difference btwn. juicy and greasy, these were the latter. Everything else is pretty good, one friend always gets the tacos and enjoys them very much. I've tried the red velvet "cup cake" and it was pretty good as well. I come to this location quite frequently. Usually I'll take it and go. I came in for a quick bite the other day. I ordered my usual plate with spicy tenders, rice and green beans and my peach almond tea. It was midday, not too busy, It wasn't loud, there wasn't many people inside nor a lot of people waiting but it was definitely in disarray. Almost every table was either dirty (food crumbs, debris) or there was trash/dishes still there. I got some napkins to spot clean a table because leaving wasn't an option because I was hungry. I told them the cashier about it and he said okay so I left it alone. Even while waiting for my food, I'm used to seeing more than one person coming out and checking to see if the tables are clean. Finally my food was brought out but even then, they did remove the dishes that were sitting but not fully clean the tables as expected. Nobody came to wipe off the tables until I left which was about 30 minutes after arrival. I hope this isn't the new standard but to really enjoy the space of dining in, a clean table is appreciated. read more

I don't even know where to begin with my review...this place was exceptional from the service, cleanliness, quantity of seating, bar options, and the FOOD. My only "negative" is that I got the spicy and didn't get much spice from it but I understand everyone's level of rating is different. Nonetheless the flavor was still phenomenal. Also they don't charge extra for their house made ranch which is one of the best out there in terms of consistency and flavor. My daughter loves Ponko and is always asking to go so I agreed and it was pretty yummy. I tried the barbecue tofo tenders and they were really good! My daughter had the traditional tenders and she devoted them. Their kettle chips are yummy too as well as the sweet potato fries. The icing on the cake was the wonder customer service. This has to be one of my favorite chicken spots to go to. The chicken is always battered nicely and the crisp is very satisfying. The fries itself are always a hit except when it's a little soaked in the sauce, but that's okay! The staff are very nice and saying that they'll pick up the dishes for you and the environment is so nicely decorated. There's a cool bar. So much to say. Been coming here for years. The place has gone down. First it was completely empty thought they was strange. I ordered tofu tenders. They are so much smaller than they used to be. The cashier was weird but stated stared at me not saying much as I scanned the menu. I told her to give me a second she still jury stared. Then a homeless lady and some guy came in looked suspicious but I just kept my eyes on them. There were fruit flies I could barely eat and fly's I was swatting. Went here for lunch with some friends and this spot didn't disappoint. The chicken tenders was fresh and flavorful, especially with the OG sauce. The fries were so good with ranch. The fried pickles were so good also. The customer service was on point also. The pricing was reasonable and it's plenty of parking in the lot. I just had a rude encounter with a young lady work the register today. I placed an order online. Upon picking up my order I notice my food sitting in the ready station. I provided my name and she told me she'll call me when it was ready and proceeded to talk. I sat waiting 30 mins. I then asked again about my order. This place is really nice. Great service. Makes sense, as it's the flagship location and corporate office in one place. The service is great, but I have been here twice now and I like the taste of the food it's different, but the food needs to be hot. The first time I went, I had to send the food back because the food was cold. 2nd time, same thing. I just ate it, couldn't be bothered. They tried to tell me the SAUCE made it cold. Really? The sauce that was put on 30secs ago then directly handed to me made hot chicken cold? No. I think they have the chicken sitting there, which the guy all but confirmed saying they have a policy on food coming out fast. Listen, I will wait for hot food. I hate cold food that is meant to be hot. This place is a prime example of that. It would taste way better. When I did have my food remade the first visit, fries and chicken tacos, you could taste the difference of a freshly fried tender to the initial tacos they gave that were cold with cold fries. Patrons are really in there eating cool food. They dress it up really nice and the flavor is different but they are serving cold food. I don't like that, and this place is not cheap. How about some Asian Fusion with a touch of American for lunch today? Ponko Chicken is very popular around Chamblee Tucker and Doraville area. There is barely any space if you want to go during the lunch time, but guess what? Food is reasonable and quick. They don't take too long to serve you and you can choose from their set menus where you get 3/6 chicken tenders with whichever sauces you like and 2 delicious sides. My recommendation will be the ponko fries and the salad for the sides. Don't forget to ask for their ranch because it tastes very different from other restaurants. This is my second time to PONKO. After the first time I had PONKO I was craving it and decided to get the chicken plate with three pieces and two sides. I got the OG flavor and my boyfriend got the Spicy. The chicken was the right amount of crisp and the rice was very flavorful. I paired it with the Jalapeño crema sauce to dip the chicken in. The spicy chicken however wasn't really spicy and I would've liked the chicken to have more sauce to add to the flavor. I ordered the Veggie Patty & my ManBaby got the 'Create Your Plate' with Japanese style Chicken Tenders. We both were satisfied with our meals. The side of Sweet Potato Fries is actually a huge bowl topped with your choice of protein. With the menu offering various options like Hot Dogs, Tacos, Potato Salad, Green Beans (V) Desserts & Tofu, everyone can find something per their preference. Chicken can also be prepared grilled. This was my first time eating at Ponko Chicken on Chamblee-Tucker Road, near Mercer University Atlanta. Everything was delicious. I had the grilled chicken salad with ranch dressing and the soba noodle side salad. The grilled chicken was generous, flavorful, and tender. The lettuce, carrots and cabbage were fresh and crisp, and could hold up to the ranch dressing. Fried wonton added a great crunch factor. The soba noodle salad was cold and full of chopped veggies. The sauce was a bit sweet and tangy. Both dishes are definitely on my reorder list. The portions were generous enough to share or have leftovers. The restaurant is light and airy with outside seating available. The staff members were friendly and attentive. While I didn't request anything, there is a nicely stocked bar for those wanting an alcoholic beverage. While leaving, I also noticed there are board games to play while you're there.
