I've been wanting to try PONKO Chicken for a while, so I finally stopped in to see what it was about. First impression -- I really liked the bar area. It adds a nice vibe to the space and makes it feel like more than just a quick grab-and-go spot. The overall setup is clean, modern, and welcoming. The food was good. Nothing that blew me away, but definitely not bad either. Solid, enjoyable, and worth trying at least once. One of the employees stood out in the best way. He may have been the manager, but even if he wasn't, he absolutely had the presence and professionalism of one -- friendly, attentive, and clearly invested in making sure customers had a good experience. Overall, I left satisfied and glad I finally tried it. I wouldn't discourage anyone else from checking it out, though it's probably not a place I'll return to regularly. Still, a worthwhile stop if you've been curious.

I ordered for curbside pickup at noon, prime lunch time. However, my meal was prepared within a reasonable amount of time and got when I arrived. Everything was made and seasoned well. The portion size was perfect and I appreciate they package the mushrooms separately. Overall, I give the Fried Mushroom Salad and service - A+ This is my second time visiting this location. Each time I selected curbside pickup. Each time I ended up having to go inside to get my food. I wonder if they no longer actually offer this service?

This was a random lunch break. I wanted to try something new! The atmosphere was welcoming and the establishment was very clean. Clean bathrooms and setting areas. The service was quick! I just think this is an acquired taste. Maybe I ordered the wrong things idk. But it just wasn't my cup of tea. Nothing wrong with that at all. The food was good just didn't appeal to me the way I expected ! The Georgia peach was carbonated but it was strong for $8

First ones in for lunch so it was a bit quiet. The staff seemed like they were still getting things ready for the lunch rush. Food is good, if a little odd. I feel like some of the items are a little off the wall and don't really go together. The chicken is really good though! Great, big portions.

I don't even know where to begin with my review...this place was exceptional from the service, cleanliness, quantity of seating, bar options, and the FOOD. My only "negative" is that I got the spicy and didn't get much spice from it but I understand everyone's level of rating is different. Nonetheless the flavor was still phenomenal. Also they don't charge extra for their house made ranch which is one of the best out there in terms of consistency and flavor. Their fries were extremely well seasoned and flavorful and there's plenty of them. Overall I would highly recommend making a visit.

This has to be one of my favorite chicken spots to go to. The chicken is always battered nicely and the crisp is very satisfying. The fries itself are always a hit except when it's a little soaked in the sauce, but that's okay! The staff are very nice and saying that they'll pick up the dishes for you and the environment is so nicely decorated. There's a cool bar. The restrooms are downstairs and hidden away overall the atmosphere is just very comforting with nice lighting.

It's an asian restaurant food that offers seating inside and outside. Once we entered we were seated immediately and handed menus. Their menus are super cool and unique and are a bit overwhelming but nevertheless full of so much variety. The waitress was very sweet and checked in on us periodically and helped us fill out our sheet to place our order. We ordered a plethora of stuff such as crispy bulgogi bao buns, brushed sprouts, steamed dumplings, mango chicken and a noodle plate. Food didn't take long for it to come out on their little robot and staff helped put everything on the table. Everything smelled and looked amazing so it was tough to decide what to taste first! I first tried the crispy bao bun and was blown away by the flavor it had! It was like a mini burger. After that I tried the steamed dumplings and they were so yummy and specially with the sauce. Next I tried the Brussels sprouts and they were necessary my cup of tea but still good! Just wouldn't order again. Second to last thing I tried the mango chicken and man was it good!!! Full of the best aroma and flavor and cooked to perfection. The plating was also gorgeous as well!! We finished off with mango sticky rice and It was good but I do wish it had more mango to help the ratio. Overall, it was a really good visit and I was excited to try it out. It was busy inside, but our party of 10 was promptly seated, though we were a little squished into a circular table. I didn't remember this last time, but instead of telling a server what you want, you mark it down on a paper menu and hand it to the server. This time I got the Grandma's BBQ Pork Noodles and the Salted Egg Yolk Shrimp Garlic Noodle. I was really excited to try both since they both sounded so good. Ultimately the Grandma's BBQ Pork Noodle was a little underwhelming - the noodles themselves weren't very flavorful, and the BBQ pork was on the drier side. The pork did have decent flavor, and all the toppings/side items (wontons, fried egg, bok choy) were great, but all in all fell a little short of my hopes. The Salted Egg Yolk Garlic Noodles had better flavor, but I could've used even more garlic and butter. The shrimp definitely carried the salted egg yolk flavor, but the fried batter was a bit soggy/soft in my opinion. I wished it was crisper. Service was a tad slow, but perhaps they're understaffed and/or it was busy that night. I do love the menu concept of positioning it like a magazine catalog - it makes for a fun experience instead of just words on paper

The sushi rolls were also great as well, but none of them stood out to me except for one roll: 'A Star is Born.' This roll was the best among the 3 we ordered. This plaza is also home to the very good Temp Doeloe (check that review) and China Hot Pot (aka Little Sheep Mongolian Hot Pot). The parking for this plaza is pretty tight but depending on your arrival time you should be able to find a space - might be a good idea to carpool just in case. I attended a meeting here of my regular Buford Highway Restaurant Clawr group - actually we had tried to come here once before but the guy was about to close, so this time we came earlier, only to find that you had to call ahead to get the whole duck (which is what we were the most interested in). This sparse, brightly painted place is more of a butcher than a restaurant - where fans can buy various animal bits like Duck head, neck, feet, wing, tounge or gizzard (similar for chicken), also cuts of beef tripe, stomach and tendon or pork ear, feet and leg. They also have several seafood items like crawfish, river snails and mussels. It's my understanding that this is a particular style of traditional Chinese cooking where the focus is on all the bits that are often discarded in the US. It's for a discerning palate and stuff you might find from street-food vendors in large Chinese cities. For Atlanta this is a way to get flavors you wouldn't otherwise find, perhaps to deal with a longing for home. Thus the clientele is made up mostly of Chinese nationalists. We opted for two very similar dishes (we weren't aware how similar until we got them) - one was a soup with clear noodles and the other basically the same thing without the broth. I thought the broth fairly decent and the bits fairly fresh if very rich. I don't mind tripe, beef stomach, blood sausage and the like but I try to only get it in occasional bites - getting a huge bowl was a bit overwhelming. I think if you're looking for something interesting this might be the place to start - I'm not too sure if I'd have this as a destination. The guy behind the counter was not very engaged, seeming to spend all his time on his phone, basically oblivious to us - I don't think we fit into his typical demographic. The whole setup is like a mini food hall with several authentic Chinese spots to choose from--but Chong Qing is where I landed. I ordered the crispy chicken with garlic sauce and swapped the white rice for a side of house lo mein (yes, it's an upcharge, but worth it). Everything came out on real dishes--not to-go boxes--which I loved. You order and pay at the counter, grab a seat, and they bring the food out to you. Now let's talk about the food... DELICIOUS. The spice level was just right--flavorful with a nice kick, but not overpowering. If you like it hotter, you can definitely add more heat, but I was perfectly satisfied as is. The lo mein was really good too--veggies were fresh with a nice crisp (those onions and carrots were hitting!), and everything tasted well-balanced. Only small note: I wish there was a little more meat in the dish, but it didn't take away from the overall experience. And let me say this--the portion size is VERY generous. I ate until I was full and still had just as much left to take home, which is always a win in my book. All in all, I'll definitely be back to try more. If you're in Chinatown Market and not sure what to pick, Chong Qing Hot Pot is a solid choice. 4/5 stars for me!

If I ever return, I'll know to do better than expect the correct order and check everything before heading out. The crab rangoon was still flavorful but whatever dough they wrapped it with this time was so freaking tough that it cut the top of my mouth. My jaw should not get a workout from eating crab rangoon of all things. Another disappointment in the bag. But the beef entree we ordered was good, yet overshadowed by the other letdowns of the night's visit given that I can't really remember what exactly we ate. I'm going to remove another star for the unhygienic practices I witnessed that I was perhaps blissfully ignorant of my last time visiting. It's hard to look past a server comfortably coughing into their hand and proceeding to handle multiple patrons' plates and orders without as much of a squirt of sanitizer. I will say though they are quite dedicated to the customer. As I was sitting in the parking lot waiting 10-15min for my order to finish, someone clearly forgot their food and the same hacking server ran out to give it to them. Oh wait! Turns out that was actually our food being jostled around as he ran through the parking lot searching for the owner. Best dishes (the reasons to come) 1) Salt and pepper squid This one was excellent. Fried well, not greasy heavy, topped with plenty of fried garlic, plus cilantro and fresh cabbage to balance the richness. Super satisfying and well executed. 2) Dried chow fun with beef Also a standout. Great texture and temperature, well seasoned, and the ingredients felt evenly distributed instead of clumped or uneven. This dish was done right. 3) Eggplant in a small pot Served in a small pot that keeps it warm for a long time, which makes a big difference. There's a lot of sauce, but you can reduce how salty it tastes by how you scoop and serve it. Comforting and flavorful. If you ordered just these three, you'd already have a great meal. Other dishes (good, not amazing) Coconut shrimp The shrimp itself was cooked well, and I appreciated the broccoli on the side to balance the heaviness. The issue was the sauce: way too much. It got soggy fast and leaned too sweet and too salty. Next time, I'd ask for the sauce on the side so you can control it. We also tried a vegetable dish and a fish dish. Both were decent, but not particularly memorable. Tea They serve tea if you order it. The chrysanthemum tea was pretty good, and I liked that it was loose leaf. Atmosphere and service We went around 2:30 to 3:00 pm, so it wasn't crowded. The vibe felt very local and family friendly. It's an older building, but clean enough and inviting. Service was great, and it seemed even smoother if you have someone in your group who can speak Cantonese. Would I return? Yes. I'd come back, especially for the salt and pepper squid, dried chow fun with beef, and the eggplant pot.

The chicken is pretty heavily breaded, so if that is an issue for you, I would not recommend Other establishments offer Orange Chicken in a slightly spicier taste. It's just I don't how to distinguish one from another and I really don't care about the decor. This place is really made for to go orders. There's two small tables in the center but I think most people don't eat here. The General Tso was decent. I really can't tell if it's that different from other Chinese American places. It was sweet but not overly sweet. The wife enjoyed the steak lo mein and felt like the portions were pretty large. I thought it could've used more steak but that may be just me. Would I come here again? Probably not. It's a decent +15 min drive for me and I think I pass by at least three Chinese American restaurants. I'm not sure they are better or worse.

But nothing at all other than the beer list makes it feel 'brewery', it's very much an upscale interior, fanstic layout of sushi bar, regular bar, open air dining and outdoor patio. The food - wow. very unique flavor profiles, hearty, lots of great options between samplers, sushi, and main courses. Pro Tip - if you feel overwhelemed about the menu, most of the staff that i meet here know it very well and have worked here for a very long time, so feel free to ask, we were suprised by such a good selection of options by our bartender.

I was able to get a table right away. It was well lighted and there was some soft background music, plus TVs over the bar showing sports. I ordered a beer and the Katsu Curry. The beer was very good, a nice fizzy crisp beer. The curry was a large bowl with rice and shredded cabbage at the bottom and some curried vegetables alongside the panko crusted chicken breast sliced beautifully on top. Everything tasted great. On a slightly warmer day it would be lovely to sit outside on the patio.
