It was our first visit and it was absolutely perfect. We experienced an incredible ambience, friendly staff, and delicious wine. What more did you ask for?

Friendly staff and great wine! We liked so many of the wines that we decided to become wine club members.

As a personal fan of the sweeter white wines this winery has a fantastic option in their Riesling.

Shade can be hard to find, but the staff told me to feel free to grab an Adirondack chair and position it wherever I wanted to, which was appreciated. The staff is extremely friendly, enthusiastic, and helpful. While it may seem weird for a non-alcohol drinker to visit a winery, I've been told at other wineries that it's quite common, and other wineries offer a fair selection of non-alcoholic beverages for such patrons. Bateaux only offers water, so anybody hoping for kombucha, iced tea, sodas, etc. is out of luck. Their food menu consists of two pizzas: Margherita, and pepperoni. They're wood-fired, and the dough is made in-house. The pizzas are competent, but they're on the pricy side, and are nothing noteworthy. Service is fast, and there is table service, even if you're just sitting in an Adirondack chair that you randomly positioned in a spot of shade close to the stage. Be aware that Bateaux is completely hidden from view from its street entrance, and that there is a longer-than-expected drive on a single-lane dirt road to get from the street to the winery. Although I didn't encounter any traffic trying to leave when I was entering, eluding oncoming traffic would have been tricky.

I mean when everyone in the area is beating themselves silly trying to breed these Pinot noir... This is different. And that's "different" in a ** very good** way Don is a retired technology executive who decided to pursue winemaking. Unlike many of his peers who have done so with disastrous results, everything there is eminently drinkable. And in the last couple of years, his wife, Pam has started producing extremely high-quality chocolates. My most recent trip involved a tasting flight described in their email newsletter (highly recommended). My partner and I headed out for a casual afternoon and wound up sitting under the gazebo on the patio, surrounded by wind chimes, and light breeze. Having ordered inside before seating ourselves, Don brought us a double flight, and shortly there after Pam brought us a sampler of the chocolates. I wasn't expecting table side service, and was quite glad to have had it. After dropping the chocolates, Pam stayed for a delightful and extended conversation, and wish we discussed the upcoming night time event for the Perseid meteor showers, and other stargazing events (Don has become quite the astrophotographer, and loves to share his knowledge and enthusiasm) The real purpose of the visit was the 2014 GRÜNER VELTLINER which is described as "a white for people that like to drink reds". In my book this is one of those "buy it if they have it" bottles, and I might've accumulated more than I planned. The other wines on this flight were also delightful, I was quite familiar with two of them -- the Dolcetto and the Sangiovese -- but was pleased to make the acquaintance of the others. Not on this flight, but very highly recommended: their Groovy Rose -- a very, nearly perfect light fun summer wine for sipping on the patio or at barbecues The chocolates were also very nice. I normally do not like caramel, but the handcrafted caramel in these was smooth and buttery, and delicious.

HUGE on the oak but very soft overall. #2....the 2013 Tempranillo. HUGE dry red wine....great job on this Spanish grape. #3...Tempranillo Desert Wine Port....this was CRAZY good! All that said, the experience was complimented by the knowledge the owner, Roger Rezabek, brings to the table. Great time and a lot of fun! OCTOBER 2019 UPDATE: Ok...just ordered a mix case of wine for an event I was having with a group from work. Just OUTSTANDING wine. The quality for the price great! Wines that were "winners" to us at the tasting: 1. Chardonnay: If you like white burgundy style whites...this will be perfect. Probably my favorite of the night. Try this next to a $150 bottle of Montrachet white burgundy....you might like this more. 2. Sparkling Wine: Legally, can't be called champagne, but it should as it is make in the exact style of French Champagne makers. Very dry. Light. Has an awesome nose/bouquet. Loved it. Going to buy 12 bottles for the holidays. 60% the price of Veuve Clicquot and more enjoyable. 3. Viognier: If you don't know this grape...get to know it. Fantastic. I would drink this every week with chicken//sea food. Perfect. One of the best I have ever had. 4. Pinot: OK...one "sore spot" here so you dont all think this is a "PR" note for the owners. The bottle was tainted...not drinkable. I'm sure this happens from time to time. That said, I connected with the winery and the promised to to replace. Exactly what I would expect. Looking forward to trying this wine. I love all the Napa wineries....Del Dotto, Martin Estates, Gamble, Taylor Family. Nice to find high quality wine coming out of this Region. Do yourself a favor and give a few bottles a try.
