if you don't want to get COVID, shop somewhere else. I was there for a few minutes and had to dodge 3 customers with no masks (In different places- not together). I told a passing employee who said there's nothing they can do if customers done's want to wear masks, so I left my cart in the aisle and walked out. On the way out, an employees with a mask around her neck instead of her face passed by. The two stars are because the food i didn't buy looked like it might have been good and because they guys in the parking lot were very nice and helpful. Great store. Stocks every kosher food possible. This past week an employee who was stocking the dried fruit for holiday offered to check the price for me. $20 for a nice platter is decent, so I went ahead. Pomegranate usually has short lines, though it's a bit pricy, so I only purchase speciality items. I can always count on them having ripe avocado and bananas. Also, try their rainbow cake -- it's to die for! Employees here are ALL very nice. Lines are short during the day, but can get crazy on Thursday night and Friday afternoon. read more

Pomegranite! Best supermarket ever. Pricey, but totally worth it. they are the ONLY, and I repeat ONLY kosher supermarket in brooklyn, whose butchers will clean chicken wings super extra clean 2 hours before the Super Bowl. I know that cuz I called literally every kosher supermarket, mini market, and butcher in the area at around 4:00 on Superbowl Sunday. Plus they wrapped them marinating in sauce for me (as requested), so all I had to do was bake-em! read more

Pretty definitive kosher grocery. The take out section is what brings the crowds.. be prepared to push your way through 10-15 people to finally get your order in. Pomegranate is like "Food Disneyland" for those who keep kosher. The prepared foods - especially the fish - are superb, and their selection of poultry and meat is amazing. When it's BBQ season I stock up on the kababs. And don't get me started on their "home made" soups (try the parve cream of cauliflower!) The quality and variety can't be beat. Their check out lines are always plentiful and OPEN, and I LOVE that their plastic bags are sturdy, making them great for recycling. My only gripe: The SUPER-EXPENSIVE produce (e.g. $10/lb for stringbeans!! ). If their produce dept was more reasonably priced, Pom would be my one and only food shopping destination. read more

I ordered kosher for Passover prepared foods and I picked up my order on Sunday. I brought it home and opened each beautifully packaged product, divided it up into family sized portions, and froze it. Each entree was beautifully prepared, packaged, and fresh. I was so impressed by the quality of everything. I ordered huge kugels that initially seemed pricey but will be useful for 3 meals apiece. I divided and froze them in portions and I'm beyond satisfied with my purchase. I am so glad that Pomegranate did the cooking! Yes, the place is clean and the variety is superb, and the workers are helpful... HOWEVER! The delivery service is HORRENDOUS! Today, 9/16/14, I bought $430.00 worth of items and $350.00 of that order was meat, and three orders of sushi, which all obviously needed refrigeration or freezing. When I got home and I saw they hadn't come or called, I called Pomegranate and after a long wait on the phone, I finally got Customer Service. But it was a recording asking me to leave a message and they would return my call "shortly." "Shortly" became NEVER. She never called me back. I called Customer Service again, and this time I waited five minutes and then the phone call turned suddenly into a busy signal, forcing me to hang up. Then I called again forty-five minutes later, and after five minutes again, they used the sudden busy signal trick on me again. So, even though I left my name and number I got no return call. In fact now, I am writing this review and it is three and a half hours since I left her that message and still no return call. Customer DISservice. I used to shop in this store almost three times a week! Then I stopped for a year and a few months. Today, because it was not busy, I went in again and there still was no difference in the sloooow delivery. I got the delivery and the meat was still cool, so I guess it will be okay even after four hours of waiting. read more

I had Pomegranate cater a work lunch for 12-15 people and it came with a very expensive price tag of $560.00! The food was mediocre at best. The sushi was okay, the small, $80 cheese platter was good (but not worth the money), and the fruit platter was nice, but, again, it was small and cost $80.00. They charged me for plates, cutlery, and TOOTH PICKS! The reason for the two stars is because of Pom's customer service, or, lack thereof. I had an issue and tried to contact them a half a dozen times and never once got a call back or my issue resolved. They were extremely rude and unresponsive. If you're going to charge THAT much for average food, the least you can do is provide good customer service. On another note, the cake I ordered there was delicious, for a non-dairy cake. That was the only thing I was impressed with. Will never use them for catering again, nor will I go to the store. read more

Yes they are pricey but, what a customer EXPERIENCE- AMAZING! I came on Thursday, which is always a busy day for a kosher supermarket and these guys were BY FAR ahead of the game! Starting from the free valet parking with 5 employees making sure you are not wasting your time looking for parking. Going inside, the bakery looks awesome the smells makes you buy even if you hadn't planned to lol. The fruits & vegetables department is on a whole different level than any other place I have been in, EVERYTHING was fresh, you could also see 3-4 employees spraying cold water on the fruits in order to keep their fresh look. (even though it looks great I wouldn't recommend buying these kinds of things in pomegranate, as they are extremely expensive! After half an hour shopping I headed to the cashier and even this part was awesome. As a side note, I work for a business that treats their customers as top priority, so I can tell when a company builds a culture of kindness and willingness to always do the right thing for their customers. Long story short, 4 of 12 cash registers were available to check me out,and they were all smiling suggesting me to check out on their line, yes, they will fight to serve you! The cherry on top was when We realized I didn't let the guy from the bakery label my rolls, so another employee that was around and understood the situation was like:" let me have the bag I'll take care of it for him, you can continue to check him out I will be right back" -that's culture guys someone educated him to go above and beyond for his customers. I was considering to give them 4 stars Bc of their pricing but then I realized, when I go to a 5 star hotel or buy a luxury car I can't complain how expensive they were. It's only fair to announce that Pom has finally made real progress in resolving its bad bread problem, & I have become a frequent consumer of their delicious baguettes & mini-baguettes. Bravo to Pom for having sorted their months-long bakery disaster! Still more significant in my view is the fantastic turnaround job in Pom's fish department engineered by their youthful, energetic & enthusiastic new department manager. Following a painfully long spell in purgatory, Pom's fish selection & quality is way better & more diverse than ever before. That applies to the sushi/sashimi area as well, which is again run by highly motivated experts who are provided with the first choice of the best of the best fresh arrivals every day. The choice is no longer limited to salmon & tuna, but usually includes red snapper, fluke & yellowtail, or at least a subset thereof. Of course there's still a selection of americanized creations to suit plebian taste buds addicted to mayo, hot sauce, sweet sauce & whatever else it takes to kill the flavor of excellent fish of outstanding freshness. Under the aegis of the inspired new manager, Pom has also begun to offer scrumptious fresh ceviches & fish tartares. At last I'm far more than satisfied; I'm absolutely bloody delighted! I just wonder what Yanky will do next to make it all even better. The produce section has improved a bit, but care is still recommended in choosing what's best, as quality/freshness can vary considerably within each bin of fruit & veg. The biggest upsides of the produce department are its VERY extensive selection & many offerings that are pre-cleaned, sliced & ready to eat or cook (for those unable or unwilling to perform such tasks themselves). The cheese section is at last rid of the problems long suffered due to the paranoid schizophrenia that rules the local kosher certification mafia ("Kehila Kashrus"). Yes, suddenly & for no apparent reason, the Froggy kosher cheeses are back on sale, without any complaint from the certifiers. I'll abstain from sharing my thoughts on the reason for this happy turnabout, while just wishing the guys at Kehila Kashrus will take their thorazine more regularly from now on, & pay more attention to doing a good job than extorting ever more money from the hapless kosher food sellers & restaurants on their "turf." No further complaints from me about the lack of kosher parmigiano reggiano & grana padano on Pom's refrigerated shelves, as they've both seem to have disappeared entirely from the American market. Obviously, the meat department is still at the very top of its game & ever improving, offering USDA prime meats as good as you'll find anywhere else in NYC... & they're glatt kosher to boot! In fact, USDA Prime meats sometimes even wind up in the cases normally reserved for USDA Choice, when there's more prime than they can flog fast enough. In the glass-enclosed display case for prime & prepared cook-n-serve specialties, I'd enthusiastically recommend the Wagyu beef burgers & sliders, the boneless duck breasts, duck legs, "Surprise Steak" & frenched lamb & veal chops. With a roller-coaster of ups & downs since Pom first opened, it took me a long time to restore my original 5-star rating of the place. At times I've found being rather severely critical of Pom, & I decided to wipe the slate clean of all the previous badmouthing. Pom's new management is more strongly committed to quality & customer satisfaction than ever before. New high-quality products will be showing up with increased frequency on Pom's shelves. As to the customer service that has always been outstanding, it has somehow become even better! I am unaware of ANY food emporium of this size (with the possible exception of Eataly) that treats customers like friends & bends over backwards to ensure that you'll wanna come back again & again & again. If you are looking for Israeli products in Brooklyn and aren't looking to go to Holyland Market on St. Marks and Ave A, this is really the place to go in Brooklyn. While the high prices cannot be ignored, you can find REAL israeli products, like good labaneh, good chummus, pitas, pickles, olives and bamba (yum!) Hatzlacha on Flushing Ave in Bed-Stuy/Williamsburg cuts it when I do not feel like hopping on the BQE, but their selection is extremely limited compared to that of Pomegranate's. The food is absolutely delicious. The place is so clean that you can lick the floors. This store is a definite asset to the community whether one is of the Jewish faith or not. Okay, So my neighbor Al C doesn't stop saying at how perfect this store is and how much money they put into it so we finally decided to give it a shot. 1. Cannot turn into the lot unless you make an illegal U-turn. 2. The Meat selection quality, variety and attention to detail is the best in Brooklyn. 3. The biggest problem I had was with the specialty salads. Now the word in town is you cannot get food staples at pomegranate unless you want to overpay. So being recession conscious I was only there to try and get my hand on some specialty food items. The type you can only find in wholefoods but this time kosher products. I bought Avocado salad could not find ingredients on it and it had cilantro and way too much lemon. it was barely edible. Pico de Gallo was absolutely terrible-considering there were at least ten Mexican workers there they should see if they would eat it-tasted like soap. Then I saw the fresh Humus, okay i figured charif humus yum. It was a bland as anything charif in my world means HOT not that pretend nonsense. it was too creamy and too tasteless. Back to Sabra i go. I was looking forward to the salad dishes as an appetizer to the prime cuts we bought. I was heartbroken. But the steaks my perfect wife made were Delicious and the Butcher there was pretty helpful on how to cook em etc. 4. The beef Jerky I ate woke me up at 4:30 am from some weird feeling. Maybe the thought of comping down on that at midnight was not such a good idea. 5. I love strange cheeses but there was nothing to sample. How on earth am I supposed to know what I like? the only samples we got were some pickles I gave to my 3 year old son. He loved em. We bought a container but how was I to pay for the 2 he sampled. I wrote it off as a wash for being forced to park in the valet lot. 6. The best part was them loading the car for me and my pregnant wife. It was the cherry on top. unfortunately there was no real substance to this place. They are close and if they get there act together they may survive. Jews love free stuff. Get us some samples and get people raving about how amazing some of the food is and stave off disaster.The staff was very friendly in an odd way for a supermarket so i should give them credit there. P.S. Lastly we bought some clementines and chestnuts. The clementines 'from Spain' were a little moldy on some and the Chestnuts were way too dry. Maybe my expectations were too high.I don't know. I have to disagree whatever vegan thought that Pomegranate was a good grocery store option for vegans. It's honestly not much better than C Town. The store is large, well stocked and very clean but the valet parking is ridiculous and they didn't have vegan staples like tofu or soy yogurt. If you're vegan you're much better off going to Whole Foods or Fairway. Even Whole Foods wouldn't be much more expensive. read more

I lucked out having Pomegranate as my neighborhood grocery store. They have a great selection. The best part are the cheeses and fresh items all around the store. Having compared to only a few other stores, their prices are relatively decent. The meats are super expensive, but the grains, freezer and milk product prices are pretty good. Besides the immense traffic getting there- expect to park on the street. The lot is always full and cars are always double parked. However for a kosher supermarket it is very clean and beautiful. They have a huge selection if prepared salads, each one is better than the next. The prepared foods are tasty as well.
