He said we didn't need a lot of the "upsell" in the other quote. Ben showed me what he thought we needed versus not; he took a lot of pictures and sent them to me. He also added a couple of minor items to his quote at no charge. On the day, Pedro (technician, young guy, very sharp) called ahead to let me know that he and a helper (didn't get his name) were inbound. They got in and out quickly. Pedro showed me what they'd done and explained. He took lots of pictures and a couple of videos and sent them to me. Ben dropped by to check on things. I asked Pedro if Top Star also did HVAC work (our longtime guy retired). He said no but he'd send me a name. I've put them on my calendar for biennial (every two years) maintenance visits.

Payless Insulation recommended a cellulose insulation but our preference is blown in fiberglass. They were willing to work with any insulation. White blown in fiberglass brightens your attic space and has a proven track record. We highly recommend Payless Insulation.

On top of that, he offers one of the longest warranties in the area while still being very fairly priced. Thank you again, Ricardo. Royal Air is a top notch outfit. They installed a completely new air conditioning system for us…read more The job was done quickly and to our complete satisfaction. They call us to schedule the seasonal checkups on the system, which is nice because we often forget about such things. Recently, the a/c went out on us two days in a row. We were frustrated because it was of course a record hot day! At any rate, both days the problem was not Royal Air's but ours because we live in an old house that flips breakers, etc. The problem was easily solved. They were here at the house to make the repair on time and both techs (Ali and Sam) were friendly, clean and courteous. They knew their a/c units and resolved the situation. There was no charge because they installed the new unit last year. Our experience with them couldn't be better. We'd recommend them to family and friends in a heartbeat! Cynthia Cooks

Royal Air Houston: A Chilling Disconnect Between Promise and Performance…read more Royal Air Houston's website proudly declares a commitment to service that promises quick response, efficient work, and a 100% stand behind their products and work. They boast of being a Houston leader in "honest AC service repairs" and providing "world-class service, expert repairs, and rates that make it easy to enjoy year-round comfort." They even list "Duct Cleaning" as one of their services. However, a recent customer's experience paints a starkly different picture, revealing a troubling chasm between these lofty claims and the reality of their operations. This customer invested a substantial $22,000 in two new HVAC units from Royal Air Houston. Yet, the initial installation immediately contradicted the promise of "expert repairs" and standing "100%" behind their work. Despite the customer's explicit concerns about thirty-year-old, filthy ductwork, the company proceeded with the installation without addressing this critical component. The predictable outcome was a home contaminated with black soot and mold, directly undermining any claim of providing a "cooling solution for your budget" or ensuring "year-round comfort." The subsequent demand for an additional $8,000 to replace the ducts, after the fact, directly conflicts with the notion of "honest AC service repairs" and transparent pricing. The situation further deteriorated when one of the newly installed 4-ton units failed. The company's promise of a "quick response" and "specializing in emergency A/C service" proved hollow. The customer endured a five-day wait for service, repeatedly being told a technician would arrive "today"--a clear failure in communication and responsiveness. When a technician finally did appear, a clogged line was identified, and the customer was coerced into paying an additional $675, under the assertion that this was not covered by warranty. This charge, extracted under duress for an issue that could arguably be linked to the initial flawed installation, directly challenges the company's commitment to "world-class service" and ethical practices. The subsequent re-failure of the unit the very next day, coupled with the salesman's evasion of calls and management's refusal to engage, utterly dismantles any pretense of "respect and integrity" in customer relations. The website's emphasis on customer satisfaction and problem resolution stands in stark contrast to the customer's experience of being stonewalled and forced to pay for what should have been a warranty-covered or properly installed component. In conclusion, while Royal Air Houston's website paints a picture of a dedicated, honest, and responsive HVAC provider, this customer's ordeal exposes a profound disconnect. The promises of quick service, expert installations, and transparent dealings appear to be mere marketing rhetoric when faced with real-world challenges. For a company that claims to have serviced over 160,000 customers, this experience serves as a chilling reminder that potential clients should look beyond the polished website and scrutinize the actual delivery of service before making such a significant investment.
