The best paczki in USA. Have been going since I was a little kid, no bakery better. Best Polish bakery you will find.

Have tried several different Polish bakeries & this one(at least as far as babka goes) is by far the best. I get two of the 3 types Cheese & 7 sisters both very good. The 7 Sisters is very similar to the one Pechters used to make when they had an attached retail bakery for the public(which sadly closed for good during the pandemic) Other items were cheesecake(more like ricotta not two sweet & despite appearance it's surprisingly moist with a layer of chocolate icing), crystal sugar coated creme horns, layered apple cake & until the last couple of visits very good of all things Florentine Lace cookies(which originated from Italy or France depending on who you talk to). All items are fresh & last 5-7 days. Workers are always polite & even though all Polish do speak enough English to properly serve their non-Polish speaking customers. The bakery is very small so any specialty items I always order ahead. As far as the parking I would just park in the lot next door but on my last visit this past Xmas Eve there was a sign on the bakery door warning not to do that because you may get ticketed &/or towed. Fortunately, I was able to find a spot on the same block on the street. The lot as usual was less than 1/4 full so the town of Passaic needs to use their brains & realize making it harder for small business to succeed(especially one where the local clientele has changed drastically over the years) is only going to cost the town in the long run. At least during this visit the meters were covered so no worries about getting a parking ticket. I will continue to patronize this establishment as long as I can park within a block or two. read more

Established in 1957, the Polonia bakery is a family owned and operated traditional Polish bakery. They feature Polish Easter bread, babka, paczki, strudels, layered rum cake and other Polish favorites. Their baked goods are made from scratch with authentic quality ingredients and are delicious. My only criticism is that the paczki could use more filling. While all their products are good, the star of the show is their breads which are fabulous. The rye bread is exceptional and is sold in many stores throughout New Jersey and NYC. Multigrained bread and other varities of breads are available. They are closed Mondays and street parking is hit or miss. read more

For as far back as I can remember my family has always purchased the infamous layered rum cake from Polonia Bakery for celebrating Orthodox Easter. 50+ years later and it is still sold here. Pulling up to the best bakery of my childhood, it is sadly showing its age, it is rundown looking, and almost stands alone on a street that used to be a main shopping thoroughfare in Passaic. The cake, it's just not the same! Lacks the flavors it once had and hardly any nuts or rum. Each layer another flavor, pineapple, cream , hazelnuts, raspberry jam and the bottom a thick better than graham cracker like base to hold up all the layers. Although it is still decent enough, sadly just doesn't live up to the treasured past Easter memories with my Babushka! read more

I felt the acclaimed Paczki's were quite average. They had a slight soggy texture to them, as if slightly oversaturated with the glaze, and I was surprised how pretty small they were. Maybe the time of the day (1:30PM or so) had something to do with it, but they didn't taste that fresh. My sister's cream roll was average too. The spiraled sugar dusted shell was disappointing. The shell's pastry was slightly chewy and bland; I felt in needed a bit more sweetness or maybe more richness. The cream filling was pretty good though ; a bit reminiscent of a cannoli cream filling with a good level of sweetness and vanilla flavor. Polonia maybe worth another try if I can get fresher offerings? read more

Since moving to NY I have found it difficult to find a Polish bakery in the Hudson Valley. My DH and I were going to Rutt's Hutt and I decided to look up and see if there were any bakeries. Well kiss my dupa was I excited to see a Polish bakery nearby - Polonia. Walking in, lots of traditional polish cookies - kolaczki, breads, danishes, tirimasu, Napoleon and they also had a freezer with several flavors of filled pierogi. But what I was looking for - yeah for Pazcki! The ladies were friendly and quick. I picked up 4 paczkis (there were no other fillings other than the traditional date/raisin), a cheese danish, fruit bread and Napoleon. They are sold by the pound. Dig into the paczki right away. Delicious. Super soft and the filling was sweet but not overly so and with a light frosting on top. It was hard to not eat them all on the way home. The Napoleon was good not overly sweet, but a little dry. The cheese danish was very good, but if your able to cut it in half and toast it..do it. The Fruit. Read was the traditional, also a little dry..I prefer to toast these as well as add butter. The Polish bakery in Hamtramack MI had a bigger selection of sweets..but everything looks good.also, I was a little disappointed there weren't other fillings in the paczki. Shoot in Hamtramack there's a 5k Paczki run right before Lent. It's good, but not the best I've had. read more

I have always loved this Bakery Drive 20 minutes to get there went there yesterday picked up 18 special polish Donuts and they were stale when I got home I was extremely disappointed and I brought a friend told him all about how wonderful they are and we were both disappointed shame on them for not throwing out yesterday's Donuts they've lost me read more

The real deal. Paczki are amazing - best I've found on the East Coast!! Got 'em fresh off the line today... Nice and warm. Don't ask too many questions if you don't speak Polish. Just trust them and you can fill your bag for under $20. read more

I went here for the first time looking for good pierogi's. They sell big portions of frozen homemade pierogi's. We got one sour kraut and one potato. I have to say they were the best pirogi''s we've ever had. I'm used to the commercial frozen kind from whole foods. Most store bought are loaded with chemicals. These had simple ingredients. We also got some apple crumb cake and poppy seed cheesecake. Both were okay, not too sweet, but could use more flavor. Very fresh. I think the woman behind the counter seemed like she wasn't happy. No smile, and she asked if we were ready when clearly, we were still deciding as we were studying the cakes with intent. I think this bakery needs to be on the other side of the river where the Polish community resides. I'll be back for the pierogi's for sure. read more

Polonia has the best cheese and raisin babka's in the entire world. And their rye sour dough breads are over the top. I have been going there since I was 5 years old and their products are as good as I remember them as a child. read more

If you want Polish baked goods, this is the place! A family owned business, and they speak Polish (but will also speak in English if you don't speak Polish!) This bakery is THE BEST bakery to get babkas for Easter!!! I am VERY particular about cheese babka especially, and I have never found a better one (I have given up looking and just make the long drive to get there for theirs!) It get's very crowded in the days before Easter, but crowds and all, it's well worth the wait! I love this place! read more
