With the combo options, I can add either tri-tip or marinated charbroiled chicken to a plate with rice, beans, and either corn or flour tortillas! It also comes with pico de gallo but I like it without(personal preference). The salsas are amazing as well! The tomatillo is my favorite. I like to cut up the tri-tip and makes tacos out of them. I think this place is heavily overrated. Everything I've gotten here has been watery on the bottom. This includes the avocado chicken salad, the nachos, and the chicken fajita. The food isn't bad, but it isn't amazing in my opinion. I do like the variety in their menu though; it includes classic mexican dishes, and BBQ items. The biggest reason I'm giving this place one start is because I got food poisoning from the chicken fajita. My stomach is pretty strong, and can handle most anything. I'm always on the search for what I consider a perfect burrito. I would have given 5 stars if I could order refried beans, if chicken was marinated/shredded, if the tortillas were a little more soft/pliable, and the chips more fres (bordering stale). I ordered a chicken burrito with rice, beans, extra cheese, sour cream, pico, and green salsa inside. The salsa bar is excellent with mild to spicy salsa. Burrito had the extra cheese and green sauce I requested. Chicken is tender with a roasted/smokey chicken flavor. They do NOT grill the full burrito to heat it up and so cheese is not melted. I microwaved it to melt the cheese. The rice is kinda dense, where I prefer a light and fluffy Mexican rice. Refrained beans ensure melted cheese in the burrito. My overall opinion is that it's not as great as some, but not at all bad. It had a good spicy kick to it with the green salsa. Beans were undercooked...kinda break apart in your mouth. It wasn't a homerun that would make me a loyal customer. I have more Mexican restaurants to try in SB county... I ordered takeout, but all looked clean. read more

Pollofino in Goleta is great place to grab a chicken or steak meal for a very good price! I would choose a the Flying Steak Burrito at Pollofino over the Steak Burrito at Chicken Ranch any day! I've been here multiple times and if I had to choose my 2 favorite dishes it would be the Nachos (with chicken or steak) and the Steak Flying Burrito (hold the pico de gallo). Add some avocado salsa and lime on the side and your set! Not only is the food delicious, every staff member is super friendly! It's always good lunch everytime I choose to eat here. I love food that tastes 'homemade", e.g. without fillers, or cheap ingredients - I love "real" food, and though not fancy, this is a "real" food spot - the type that you read help reviews to find. Having worked at Raytheon across the street for years, this was one of my go-to lunch spots and one of two places that I absolutely craved, no joke. The chicken here is amazing! Whether you get it in a burrito, on top of nachos, or as a plate (1/4 chicken with rice, beans, and tortillas on the side). I was particularly addicted to the chicken burrito: huge chunks of tender, grilled chicken, fresh pico de gallo that has some jalapenos in there for spice, guac, a little cheese, and a few beans. Part of what makes the burrito so amazing is that practically the entire burrito is filled with chicken, not rice and beans (filler). I've had nearly everything on the menu over the years, and I was never disappointed. The restaurant itself is not fancy and the furnishings are not updated, though it is clean. Honestly, if this spot was remodeled and located downtown, it would have a line down the street - the food is that good. One caveat that some have pointed out, you'll want to eat whatever you order here as soon as possible. Since their food is fresh, the pico and chicken tend to be pretty moist and it can swamp your burrito, nachos, or tacos (the chicken and tri-tip plates don't have this issue). Overall, Pollofino is not fancy, and the location is not ideal for most, but the food is hard to beat, and I highly recommend nearly everything on the menu. read more

Pollofino is not a place where you go for ambience. Located in the K-Mart shopping center, there isn't much to the place but tables, chairs and a too loud large screen television which seems out of place. Aside from the acoustics, my family had several different burritos that were very good. My wife's burrito didn't have fully melted cheese inside but the meat was tender and prepared in a tasty sauce. Mine was next to perfect but I wanted a bit more spice. Luckily, they had a small salsa bar which saved the day. My daughter's rice, bean and cheese burrito was eaten without many words spoken with her mouth full -- this is a good sign. I will likely pick up food from here for take out in the future as it is close to my work place, has good food and friendly service. 3-stars may be a bit unfair as if they were in a different location -- they might get 3.5 to 4. read more

This place is just okay for me. The portions are HUGE, and you literally have to be a beast to finish it all. I was utterly destroyed by the two beef ribs. Honestly, if you go here, be sure to bring a friend to share the food with. When you order, it isn't really made clear that they come with sides (Mexican rice and beans). Had I known that, I probably would have asked to order them a la carte. The ribs were good and meaty, but were very oily. It was delicious, but left a very heavy feeling in me afterwards. Wonderful family owned restaurant. This shopping strip hosts some of goleta's best casual dinning. While these are not many options in goleta, Pollofino always delivers. The flying chicken burrito is amazing. The special homemade marinate compliments the freshly grilled chicken. Their salsa is some of the best I have had. Great for UCSB students who want some tasty tex mex outside of free birds. The flavors are a lot better than SB Chicken Ranch and chicken and tri-tip are more tendy and not as dry. So bringing my son down to hockey 2-3 times a week I frequent Lilly's tacos for a great taco at a very reasonable price. Tonight I ventured away from Lilly's and was willing to spend a few more dollars to try Jerry's pollofino. Oh my, what a mistake. I ordered a combo plate with chicken, tri-tip and small sides. I also ordered 2 extra small sides for a total of $17. and some change. The pieces of chicken (thigh and drumstick) were so small it seemed like it came from a baby chick. The over cooked, dried out , flavorless tri-tip was cut so thin it was almost transparent. The sides of rice and pinto beans were nothing very special either. That kind of money I could of gotten 3 combo meals with a drink a few miles away at El pollo loco. Or I could of bought 8 tacos , ate 2 (which you can really make into 4) and shared with some people in need of help and called it a successful day. Instead, I felt like I was tricked out of hard earned money and nothing to show or taste of it. Next time I won't be so quick to venture away from what I know to be great. Farewell Jerry's pollofino,, our paths will not cross again. Love this place when I crave for delicious Mexican style grilled chicken or tri tip! I no longer go to Chicken Ranch thanks to this place. Chicken Ranch started tasting really salty and their flavors were consistently flat. Pollofino on the other hand, is very light on the salt seasoning but have intricate flavors from their freshly grilled moist meats and made-to-order dishes. They easily customize special requests like no onions in the fajita dish. Their beans and rice are made in-house, which is always soft and delicate. I saw them cooking a batch when I was ordering. The service is always friendly and they make sure their wide selection of salsa bar is always stocked up. On top of it all, the value is unbeatable.
