I went here because I was told this place is "better than SB Chicken Ranch". 8 bucks got me a half chicken meal. It must have been a really small chicken!! The proportions were lacking for 8 bucks..imho. The chicken did taste good. I wouldn't say it was BETTER than SB Chicken Ranch...It was about the same. Maybe a little bit drier than SBCR. Been coming to Santa Barbara for the past three years and never went into this place that I call HEAVEN until two weeks ago! Incredible is the only word that I can use to describe the food and the great staff. The chicken, tri tip and ribs are outstanding!!! I could eat it everyday and twice if my wife would allow me!! I know chicken and ribs and I am telling you that I never had anything like it. Do not let the fact that you are in KMart plaza fool you. This is the best place to eat in Santa Barbara. First of all it wasn't what I expected - small and somewhat run down. The adjacent restaurants had their air conditioning turned on in near-record heat, but Pollofino had the door propped open instead. I think they do a lot of takeout business. I had a Restaurant.com certificate, which I bought after reading the menu posted on that website, Not sure where that menu came from - the staff had never seen it and didn't serve beer as listed nor any diet sodas. But not to review RDC... we really enjoyed Pollofino. We got chicken, beef ribs and taquitos, all of which were really good! The chicken is close to perfect. The taquitos are generous on the chicken and are smothered in delicious guac and salad greens. The ribs are unique - actually quite chewy but with a fantastic flavor. I don't know of anywhere that has Mexican and bbq fusion ribs like this. They aren't tender-cooked in any way, just grilled and basted on a flame grill, with sauce that has elements of chipotle, smoke, bbq, sweetness, mustard and vinegar. The tender juicy chicken has a similar flavor. If you get the ribs just make sure your teeth are glued in, it is worth it. Everything is cooked to order and seasoned just right. Portions are ample as described by other Yelpers. Service is super-friendly and personal. There are two chefs and one counter person - they all greeted us like we were family. We will be back when the weather is cooler. read more

I had this for lunch today, it was my first time here and I had the flying chicken burrito. It was OK, it didn't taste authentic to me and the sour cream didn't help. They were generous with the chicken which is always welcomed. I did love the salsas, spicy and flavorful! The salsas definitely help liven up the burrito (bland taste w/o them). It's priced more reasonably than other Goleta/IV spots and it will definitely fill you up, if that's what you're looking for. read more

This place is fantastic. I'm in town for work and drive by, it looked interesting so I gave it a try. The chicken is amazing, so flavorful and rich taste. I'm sure they marinate it in something great. I had the quarter chicken and it came with rice, beans, pico and four yummy tortillas, all for seven bucks!!! Looks like they make everything here, all the salsas look amazing. I had the hot and it's hit but tasteful and deep. Every UCSB student should be here and if your passing through Goleta make the effort, it's worth it. Five stars all the way. read more

Best kept secret in Goleta! Went to Pollofino for my first time last weekend and was impressed. I ordered the chicken and my hubby ordered the steak. We both loved our food. I had eaten here a few times before but had never tried the tacos. I prefer white meat chicken. I asked if they could make my tacos with white meat only and they said yes without hesitation. And then they really did. The tacos were awesome and the chicken was perfect. The tacos are large, 2 without rice and beans is a meal. I will be eating here once a week from now on. Their tri tip and beef ribs here are incredibly flavorful, plus everything else that comes with it. That is mainly why i like this place. The staff are always calm when they greet you and never rude. The simple setting and cleanliness are also what makes this place a good spot for lunch. I would recommend eating here in the afternoon as its a perfect place to watch the sun set even when youre sitting inside. Lastly their cucumber salsa is the hottest ive tasted in town, i was sweating like mad, would not recommend eating it, try to avoid it if you can. read more

Really tasty food. But, ordered food for the family and brought home. The one pound tri tip plate felt light so I put the meat on my wife's kitchen food scale. Sure enough, 11 ounces. Was missing a full serving! Called and spoke with them and they said they put about 14 slices in with their orders. I didn't buy "slices", was buying one pound of cooked tri tip. My daughter and I were in town staying at the Super 8 on Hollister, looking for an inexpensive eatery nearby. She found this restaurant on Yelp which was about a 2.5 mile drive. This restaurants serves chicken, tri-tip, and ribs in assorted size plates, singly or in combination. The prices are reasonable and the food is very good. Meats come with a side or rice and whole pinto beans, and three tortillas, either corn or flour. We saw some other things on the menu, a couple of salads and a bowl of some sort. There is also a selection of delicious salsas you can serve yourself. Food here tastes wholesome and home made. Not overly seasoned....it is good for the traveler who wants to be kind to their tummy. Also good for anyone looking for a substitute for a home cooked meal. Also, parking is plentiful; this is in the huge K-Mart plaza. read more

I stopped off yet again on my way home up the coast after a long day and was looking forward to a delicious meal of some tasty comforting Mexican food. This time, I must say, Yelp has let me down. The restaurant itself is clean with no frills and the staff was pretty friendly. I ordered the first combo of a quarter chicken and tri-tip. It came out quickly and with a smile. When I opened up my to go container, however, there was just one sad charred little drumstick, a half of a thigh and 3 small pieces of tri-tip. Beans and rice were also minimal and packed into two little cups almost the same size as those used for the salsa bar. It was a complete rip off for $11! I couldn't even eat the drumstick due to it being blackened and hard beyond recognition but the thigh meat and the tri-tip bits did have a terrific grilled flavor. Beans and rice were pretty awful and the salsas were just average. All in all a waste of money and a huge disappointment. read more
