P.T.'s lounge.... I remember back in the 90's when I was a young freshman at "The U" there used to be one of these on 27th Avenue and US 1 near the metrorail station. I would indulge in the BBQ sauce and soda. So one would think that being focused on fitness this might not be the first stop to eat at. But when working out nearby with my friend, this was one of the few places in Miami Lakes that was a) open later, b) less indulgent than a full service restaurant and c) I could come in sweaty after running. I ordered & enjoyed their small tropichop with brown rice, extra grilled chicken, black beans & sweet peppers. The ingredients tasted pretty fresh, and hit the spot. Compared to the other "paint by the numbers" kind of places, they didn't have pita bread so yeah less carbs. Why the lounge reference at the beginning? Today I visited the Pollo Tropical drive-thru and had a very unpleasant experience. I ordered a family meal and separately asked to purchase chicken breasts by themselves. Instead of simply clarifying the order, the manager accused me of confusing the staff. I clearly explained that I wanted, I was so frustrated that I ended with two number 9 meals and one family meal totaling $40.97, but the manager continued with a rude attitude at the window. The order was not complicated, yet the interaction became unnecessarily difficult. Unfortunately, the customer service at this location has really gone downhill. With much trepidation I forced myself to give this place a second chance instead of driving 12 miles out of my way to the one in Miramar. I was pleasantly surprised. The drive thru staff nailed it this time. Clear communication with warm friendly tone, answered questions about the menu and the food handoff was with a smile and everything was in the bag perfectly in order and nice and hot. If I was allowed to do ZERO stars, that's what I would have given HANNY who works at this location. HANNY was very rude and very very nasty. HANNY's attitude was super disrespectful. She should not work in the food industry because HANNY is the type of person who would spit in your food. She shouldn't be working here if she has that bad of an attitude and hate the customer. My family did not feel welcomed and I would never go back to this location because of HANNY. She first got the order wrong and then proceeded to throw the food at me. We have given this place so many chances. They always get it wrong. Today we decided to UberEats it. They had our driver waiting really long time for the food. When it arrived all the sauces (that are included in prices and items) were missing. The black beans were mostly liquid and the sweet plantains were burnt. The time before we waited in the drive thru and when it was finally our turn they tell us there's no chicken. That's literally there name Pollo. We have never received an accurate or complete order. I ordered the churrasco bowl with yellow rice, no salad!! They gave me the salad... so I asked for the yellow rice to be given on the side then. When I sat to eat, the steak was cold, rice was salty, tomatoes tasted like a rag, and on top of it all, they kept giving dirty cup after dirty cup after pointing out numerous times the first cup was dirty. The inside of the place also smells like a wet rag and the tables are just disgusting. They waited until after we had ordered and paid and had waited 15 minutes before telling us they were out of the chicken sliders. I'm not sure if they realize that "Pollo" means "Chicken" but whatever. Cuatro leche cake makes up for a multitude of sins. And did I mention that my date is the sweetest man ever? Okay, I shouldn't let that impress my review, but I like this place now. He brought me there for the cuatro leche and it was awesome. And I had a great evening, so they get a WooHoo! Why does it take over 30 minutes to cook 8 small cubed pieces of chicken? And I've noticed ALL other locations do the same thing, either they don't "have" them or it'll take some time to cook. This is beyond ridiculous. They should indicate on their signage that chicken pinchos will take time to cook. I couldn't take it anymore, and confronted the manager about it. You're not going to have me wait all this time, and not even offer me a discount on my meal or even dessert would be nice. He eventually offered me two flans. This is the worst location in South Florida. The wait is always excessive, in this particular case I waited in-store over half an hour for a mobile order placed a half hour before I arrived. Several employees asked me what order I was waiting for and then walked away while multiple other orders came out. Finally an employee grabbed my ticket, the only one not being worked on despite there being walk-ins after me, and prepared my order. Because it was a mobile order they taped my bag and I didn't open it until arriving at home at which point I noticed missing items. I returned to the store and my items were just sitting there bagged and an employee tossed the bag on the counter. Cold food, no replacement for fresher items.
