It's just off Allisonville and 96th, with plenty of parking. We could tell right away that there was only one staff member working the register and the grill and the tables (apparently other staff had called off), so we knew there might be a little wait. He kept apologizing, but honestly it did not take that long to get our food. And the food is such a #yum! (Because of a Yelp item, I had a free Pabellon Arepa - it had a really good size portion of shredded beef, beans, cheese, and, my favorite, sweet plantains.) But outside of that, my husband was with me and we ordered more food: The Don Luis bowl (chicken fajita with rice & beans), and a side of fried yuca. We also got a side of tequenos - the delicious little fried cheese sticks wrapped in a thicker dough. Everything was tasty, and we have enough leftovers that I have lunch the next two days! #yum #ReviewsByRL

We sat at the bar and were very well taken care of by Christian, who provided excellent service from start to finish. I decided to order the empanadas, guac, and churros from the happy hour menu. Everything was $5/each. I went with the steak empanadas, cuz unfortunately you can't mix and match flavors. For me, the texture was a bit off. Christian noticed my hesitation right away and kindly offered to replace them. He brought out the chicken empanadas instead, and they were much better. Not phenomenal, but enjoyable. My classic margarita was refreshing... until the manager offered me a sample of the Carriage House margarita. Whew! Yaaaass! That was deliciously potent! Easily two drinks in one, so pace yourself. It has officially become my new go-to leaded bev when dining here. If paella is your thing, I'd absolutely recommend it. That's usually my standard order. But just a heads up... sometimes it can be a lil like my friend when my outfit is cuter than hers - salty! So, you may find yourself needing another margarita to help balance your palate. And don't forget to add to your Cunningham rewards!!!! 1000 points equals a $100 gift card.

I order guacamole, but also tried the ceviche and cauliflower - all good! I was impressed by the ceviche. I got the taco salad for my entree. It was just okay for me. I spotted them on Resy and was intrigued--it definitely delivered on the "Southwest" vibes. The Atmosphere: The decor is the true standout here. Having lived in the American Southwest, I can tell the designer spared no detail. It holds true to that desert aesthetic while oozing intimacy through low lighting and cozy seating. It's the perfect spot if you're looking for a "mood." The Food Breakdown: * Chips & Guac (5/5 ): Fresh, flavorful, and a must-order. * Salsa Trio (2/5 ): This was a miss for us. We only liked one of the three, so I'd skip the trio next time. * Smoked Brisket & Scallops (3/5 ): A bit of a toss-up. My friend wasn't a fan, but I found the brisket quite tasty and tender. * Birria Short Ribs (3.75/5 ): The flavor was delightful, but the texture was inconsistent. I order short rib specifically for that unctuous, silky, gelatinous breakdown. Half of the portion hit that mark perfectly, but the other half felt more like a standard pot roast. The rest of the dish was satisfyingly tasty! Service & Logistics: Our server was amazing! I wish I'd caught her name, but she was attentive and seamless. (I'm pretty sure it was Taylor.) Return Factor: 65% I'll definitely be back to try some of their other pillar dishes. Note for locals: They have a dedicated parking lot, which is a huge plus for this area of College Ave!

So, I decided to take my dear son to Gringtinos to eat some empanadas, because this Latin-ish restaurant has several different varieties on the menu. We sat down, looked at the menu, and my son wanted a cheeseburger, instead. Oh, kids! You gotta love them, right? (Right?) Luckily, Gringtinos has a kids menu that includes a cheeseburger, as well as a quesadilla and boneless wings. My son said that the cheeseburger was the best that he's had in a long time, so there you go. If you want a great kids' cheeseburger, visit Gringtinos. I was there for empanadas, so I got us a few: barbacoa, chicken, ground filet and street corn. We loved all of them, but the ground filet was probably our favorite (it was basically ground beef). We also ordered the yucca fries, which are served with white queso. They were like regular potato fries, but more earthy and dense. One order can feed two or three people -- they're very filling, with an interesting texture. I'm glad I ordered them. The service was OK, but we had to ask for plates, even though the server saw us dripping empanada juice all over our napkins. (It's like, hello! Yes, plates would be good. Bring us plates.) I'm also not a fan of servers not writing down my order, and instead, trying to memorize everything I say. I'm not impressed! It makes me stressed! Please, for the love of everything that's holy, just write down my order. It's truly OK to write things down. I promise. The construction around Gringtinos is murder, but don't fret. There is parking in the back, off of a gravel road. Once you park, enter through the back and you're good to go.

I rarely order a drink but we are in the heat of wedding season and it felt like a necessity. I tried the carriage house margarita, which is a signature drink for the Livery and wasn't disappointed by the flavor. To kick off the first course of food, we had mushroom empanadas (for my vegetarian fiancé) and steak empanadas. Both were a pleasant combination of crunch and fresh flavor. Main course: Fiancé tore into a Devour week- exclusive: pickled pepper quesadilla. Packed with flavor and vegetables in every bite, his entree got rave reviews. He only wishes this was part of the regular menu. I enjoyed the skirt steak with a server recommended sauce which was similar to an aioli. It's always a good sign when not only the main leaves you wanting more, but also the polenta and shockingly flavorful broccolini. We wrapped up with what fiancé has deemed the best churros he's ever had with a delicious caramel sauce and the seasonal sugar cookie flan. Both were texturally perfect and absolutely beyond tasty. Lastly but certainly not least, our server Hannah went above and beyond to ensure not only our water binging habits were quenched (she must've filled our glasses like six times, but also made masterful menu recommendations. We cannot wait to come back to Livery again to visit Hannah and see what the full menu has to offer. What a strong start to Devour week!

Our server was excellent...friendly, knowledgeable, and attentive. She raised this review to 4 stars. The atmosphere was great as well. The calamari was very good, and the Carriage House margarita was excellent. Unfortunately, the entrées didn't meet expectations. The birria lacked flavor and seasoning, and the carrots were undercooked and crunchy. The mushroom empanadas also came out slightly cool in the middle. Because our server was so wonderful, we chose not to raise these issues during our visit. Overall, we have mixed feelings but would consider returning for drinks, appetizers, and the patio atmosphere during warmer weather.
