Having never had a pupusa before, I asked for recommendations on what to try and they recommended two pupusa was plenty for lunch, three if I was extremely hungry. Not sure if I would like it, I selected one pupusa with steak and cheese and then two street tacos. I watched some European football while waiting and the food came out hot and fresh. Holy smokes, the pupusa was absolutely incredible! One of the best things I've had in a long time. The tacos were great as well, and the table had a couple of sauces to try. My order also came with a vinegar slaw that was great. By the time I was finishing up, there were three more tables full as they were ramping up for early bird dinner. I will absolutely be back.

Their service surpasses anyone else selling pupusas/Salvadoran eats in the area. You are greeted quickly upon seating yourself in this former BK, and although the place lacks any kind of extravagant decor or amenities, their food is on point and the service is friendly. Everything from pupusas, massive traditional breakfast platters, to their more standard dishes (caldos/stews, tortas, and tacos). You'll find something to love here. Last time we were in, we tried riguas (a compressed corn patty) which were a little drier IMO than others I've had, but I'm undeterred and don't mind trying anything from here. For now I'll stick to my usual of pupusas and fried plantains. La Salvadoreña is by far a family and personal favorite and I will most definitely be back again and again.

They have very minimal decorations inside- no music, just a TV on really loud. But many times this type of places are a hit than a miss! (Based on my experience) I ordered a few pupusas and tacos to go and was told the food would be ready in 10 minutes- however it took 35 minutes. it's okay if they are busy but I think they could have just told me at one point it would take much longer than expected. There seemed to be just two people working there. There was someone who was waiting longer than I was. It was very cold inside which did not help when I was waiting for so long. I was disappointed with the wait time, however the pupusas were amazing. The hot sauce and slaw(?) that came with them were great too. I especially liked the one with chicken and cheese. In the future I will always call ahead of time to place an order rather than waiting there, and I advise everyone to do so.

Our shared meal was two empanadas and two pupusas. (See picture). The order was called out when it was ready. We got a few spoonfuls of green and red sauces and marinated vegetables, and then carried everything to our table. We started on the pupusas. These were covered with shredded lettuce, grated cheese and a drizzle of white sauce. Cooked on the griddle, the masa (dough) surrounds your choice of cheese; cheese and meat; or cheese, meat and bean filling. The cheese and shredded meat filling was mild, soft and subtly flavored -- quite nice. The empanadas were fried, giving a crispy outside layer over soft interior dough. It was a good amount of meat and cheese filling with the beef empanada more flavorful than its shredded chicken cousin. I think the spicy heat of the the condiment sauces provided some "kick" and balance to the mild flavor of the lettuce and grated cheese layered over this dish. While I did not see prices posted, I thought the prices were reasonable when we settled our bill. There was a $6 minimum to use a credit card. Overall it was a tasty meal and pleasant experience.
