When Jim 'N Nick's was announced, I was excited because although it's not "local", it was my 2nd barbecue experience when I first moved to Tennessee back in 2009. When I walked through the doors for the first time, something seemed different... To be honest, most other barbecue restaurants follow this design around here and I prefer it for barbecue. You order once at the counter and get your own refills. I usually get ribs but seeing how I ate barbecue earlier that day, I just got a 1 piece catfish plate with collard greens and a side salad... I know I know, kind of blasphemous but I vouch to return next time and try actual barbecue. I did order an appetizer of deviled eggs though. The salad was good (I mean it's a salad but it wasn't wilty, so that's all that matters.) The collard greens were tasty and not too bitter. The deviled eggs were fantastic, delicious and creamy with a slight sweetness to it. My catfish was excellently fried with a good base corn meal seasoning and the tartar sauce was icing on the cake. However I made the mistake of ordering 1 filet. The cashier told me they were big but they were NOT. It was a chicken tenderloin sized filet, which left me hungry that night. For the record, just pat a couple bucks more and get 2 filets. Hopefully they will be bigger than what I got....my kids let me have a bite or 2 of their food and I liked the pulled pork and the chicken tenders. The chicken tender was juicy and not at all dry (an indication of freshness). Overall I will come back. I have had their actual barbecue before and I know it's good. Everything was great, even down to the service. A great new restaurant in Hendersonville.
