We gave been there two times. Each time the food was hot, warm and excellent. The people are friendly. It's a family owned restaurant and they love their customers and treat them absolutely great. Whether you want chicken, biscuits, potato salad, coleslaw, whatever it is it's fresh and made daily. We'd love that restaurant and highly recommend it to anybody who wants to eat there. read more

Oh boy, Dear Kim, for starters we would like to apologize for being New Yorkers. Our demands for multigrain bread, whole wheat pancakes and non-dairy milk alternatives were not met and we're perfectly ok with that :) Upon walking in we realized this is not that kind of restaurant and THATS WHY WE LOVED IT! It was like sitting at my family's own dinner table. The food was delicious, the service was excellent and the hospitality was unlike anything we ever experienced back home. Thank you. It takes a lot to make me want to write something like this, because this is a mom and pop place, I live here and this is run by by "neighbors." Real people, not a chain. We'd been meaning to come here for awhile and were delighted to go on a whim. I feel duty-bound to wave you off. Expensive, charmless, flavorless - and I was raised on Midwestern diner food, potlucks and school lunches. This doesn't meet that minimal expectation. I only expected simple, unflashy food prepared with a little bit of care, a lack of pretention and a sense of feeling welcome. This doesn't reach that. I'm flabbergasted at its passive below-averageness. Not aaking for much beyond a little care, and that the food is served at something above room temperature. You've been warned. Heads up, 5% extra to use debit or credit card. No charge for hair in food. One of the minimal things you expect at a diner, if not flavorful food, is to be made to feel welcome. We arrived half an hour before lunchtime closing, and were told to wait to be seated; but no one came to get us. After a few minutes we had to walk into the dining room to get the staff's attention. I should have listened to the voice that asked why there were no prices on the handwritten menu. Food was served on brown plastic school lunch plate, the kind with divided sections. Again, my flavor expectations were low. This food was beyond flavorless and insubstantial. You know the friends mom that's super nice but just cant cook? She runs a restaurant and charges $9 a plate. Represntive encounter: After one coffee refill we were asked if we wanted water or something else because they were out of coffee (a dozen prefilled filters were sitting next to the machine for tommorows lunch - they didn't want to make more). What kind of diner will not make another $1.00 pot of coffee for you. I'm not the kind of person who makes a habit of saying such things, or goes out of their way to leave a review like this unless I feel especially burned or mistreated. I'd avoid it. read more

The Maple Street Diner is always a great place to stop in for breakfast or lunch. The staff is very friendly and the home-cooked, Southern cuisine always satisfies. Lots of locals pop in as part of their daily routine, and even though the dining room can be pretty full at peak hours, the service is very fast. I'd fully recommend this great restaurant. read more

I have searched my entire adult life since I moved away from Carrollton for a place as good as the Maple Street Diner and I have decided it does not exist. There are fancier restaurants and more gourmet restaurants out there. There are lots of restaurants with amazing food out there. But the combination of amazing food like your Grandma used to cook as well as the family, community, care, and consistency makes the Maple Street Diner an absolute unicorn. It is one of a kind and can't be replicated. Two eggs over medium, Tenderloin, Grits, and a buttered biscuit. Heaven! Next time I'm home I'll be there! read more

9$ for a plate of bland food that was straight from a can. Or the school lunch line. 9 dollars. 9. My wallet is still stinging. It's one thing to revisit 5th grade lunch for $1.50, it's another thing to fork over $20. You can almost hear the sound the food makes as it falls from the industrial bucket to your plate. Sour tasting green beans, inedible slaw with unidentified stringy things you have to pull out of your mouth, stale cold tiny cornbread square with no butter, and chicken and dressing that was so unloved it made me sad to eat it. The pineapple pudding was something I never want to remember. In fact, this whole place is a Never again. I just can't wait for never again to start. read more

My 5-star review speaks directly to my views of the Maple Street Diner's biscuits. I mean, this place doesn't have to do everything well, does it? Is it not enough in this life for people and organizations to specialize and do one thing really well? I have eaten approximately 100 bacon-and-egg biscuits from this place (a "biscuit sandwich" with bacon and eggs on it, for you non-Southern folk). The biscuits are always amazing. Others may disagree, but these biscuits are moist with a strong buttermilk flavor that I LOVE. Add their crispy bacon and a bit of hastily scrambled egg, and you've got a very tasty, quick breakfast. read more

This is the way a meat-n- three should be. Fast, inexpensive and delicious. A good variety of dishes each day combined with some solid southern cooking. And the complimentary banana pudding was actual homemade REAL banana pudding. Served warm from the oven. read more

The people, especially the young wait staff, are very nice and very attentive. The vegetables are canned and the meats are very bland. What they call "steak and gravy" is a small hamburger with brown powder-mix gravy on it. The portions are tiny - they are served in brown plastic school lunch plates with the compartments. the three of us had one meat and three vegetables (ordering an extra vegetable results in smaller portions). Cornbread was served and we had a tiny banana pudding with it. The price, with tax, was around $29 dollars. Seriously, the food is much like a $2 dollar school lunch. If they would give moderately larger portions or make the prices about half the current price, I would come a lot. I do wish them the best of luck and I hope some minor changes will bring me and my friends back. read more

Tenderloin biscuit was okay for $2.85. But I was shocked to see they charged $1.50 for a slice of cheese to go on top. What happened to the normal .10 or .15 for cheese. Thats over kill. Plus they charge 5% for credit cards .25 for togo cups Too much nickel and dime stuff. read more

Can I give 10 stars? I am here nearly every Saturday morning with my husband and daughter. The staff is honestly some of the best people I have met, the food is always cooked to perfection, and the other patrons are always so polite! My daughter has been deemed the "Diner Baby" and she never leaves without giving Ms. Sandee a big hug! I've always wanted a place I can always count on to have a breakfast as good as their service. With the diner, I never have to wonder what type of experience I'll have. It is always a perfect one. read more

I was quite impressed with this little "hole in the wall" place. It's a Country Cookin' sort of place that you pick a meat and 2, then it comes with bread, tea and dessert, all for about $6. All 3 of us at our table ordered something different and all 3 of us were happy with what we ordered. It's good "real" food and a great price and all the staff was friendly. We got there at 1:50 for a 2:00 closing time, but they didn't seem to mind. After we were served all the employees fixed themselves a plate and came out into the dining room and had lunch together. I was quite impressed with this, because for 1. it meant the employees have a good enough rapport with each other to break bread together and 2. it meant they must actually trust and enjoy the food they prepare. It was a very pleasant experience and this place will now be my go-to on visits to my daughter at UWG. read more

One word. Biscuits. Get the biscuits. I am allergic to wheat, but decided to try just a bite and it was deliciously moist, not overly buttery, and just slightly sour. My mom and stepdad who were with me wholeheartedly agreed. The portions were actually normal "homemade" sizes, nothing was over salted. In short, it was true "homemade" diner food. The reason I'm not giving it 5 stars, is that there were no fruit or veggies on the menu, and whole the ambience was delightfully kitschy, it still left something to be desired. This place is always packed, they're only open until 2pm. It's attached to Sam's gas station and is rather plain looking and the food is somewhat similar. They serve home cooked southern meals, you pick a meat and your sides. I got the fried chicken, which was cooked just right. The sides were rather bland, I got peas and macaroni, I had to salt the peas and the macaroni was watery. Despite that, it's a good place near campus to get a homecooked meal. read more

I have always loved this place! Great vegetable plates UNTIL RECENTLY. Is there a new cook who does not know what squash casserole is? They are serving some kind of "corn meal mush" as squash casserole - there is very little squash in it and it tastes AWFUL. Several others at a luncheon were in agreement!
