I just wanted to give a little good press to a very good restaurant in Centralhachee Georgia. The place is the Hog Waller Cafe. I truly think it is a jewel in this small town in Heard county. We went there for the first time Saturday before the Moe Bandy concert. The food was great the service was so good and friendly. It is just like being in a place where you feel welcome immediately as you walk thru the door. I had the Friday/ Saturday catfish special it was some of the best fish I have ever had served hot with a friendly smile. My wife had the BBQ fries and my sister had the Philly steak sandwich both said they were very good. I assure you this will be a go to place in the future. In my opinion, most menu items are subpar since they are not acclimated to my palate, but I really enjoy their homemade biscuits! They are the epitome of Southern comfort food: warm, cheesy, melty, and, most importantly, made with love and crafted by local hands! The staff is always pleasant and treats you like family. They quickly pick up the phone and remember you as a customer, and they can recall your preferences if you've ordered from them enough. With Franklin's limited restaurant choices, Hog Wallar's burgers and hamburger steaks stand out. I know people prefer Hunt Brother's pizza, its flavor, and its affordability, but I believe in artisan foods and do not condone the use of this company in any restaurant. read more

Hog Wallar Cafe is a cute little cafe with amazing food and service. I am in town from Texas visiting family and they love this cafe. They have been going here for years. My dad had the chicken fried steak sandwich and I had the catfish dinner. We both loved our meals. The catfish was American Catfish - a must! Large fillets. Not over seasoned. I was especially impressed with the homemade coleslaw and tartar sauce. The onion rings were good. Thick and crispy. The fries were okay. Crinkle cut fries. We also had a side of Corn Nuggets. They were wonderful. The cafe is small and they stayed busy but no one ever had to wait. As people left others arrived. Good prices. I enjoy cafes like this in Texas. We love supporting local, and these folks were working hard. In this little town of about 300 is this cute little place. It is country decor and perfect. It might take awhile to get your food, but that is an indicator that they're actually cooking it. I had some of THE BEST fried pickles. I'm very picky about my Brunswick stew and theirs is good AND it came out nice and hot. My husband had the country fried steak sandwich, and he said he'd order it again. My sister asked for her fish crispy and she said it was perfect. If I had one complaint it would be I would like extra bbq sauce and they were so busy she didn't get back by our table. However, next time I will ask for some and we know when you're a small business you're typically working your butt off (as they were doing). read more

The "barbecue" pork is boiled and unseasoned. They didn't even put salt and pepper on it. If you request bbq sauce, it is taken from the refrigerator cold in a 2 ounce container. I can't believe someone would even try to sell this. However, their fries were good. It is getting very hard to find decent barbecue in this area!! read more
