We have been looking for a dependable dining experience between Atlanta and Birmingham, and so glad to have found it! This restaurant is full of genuinely helpful and eager service personnel, a super fun and funky ambiance, and surprisingly great food dishes--specifically the Thai food. As people who lived in Seattle for a long time, my family can guarantee the Thai quality. We haven't found much actually spicy food in the South so far (compared to Texas or East Asian spice) but the spice levels here are legit. The Southern breakfast and lunches are incredibly well done and great too, but I had to fight my tablemates to keep them away from my soup. I can't wait to return.

Pimento cheese and bacon sandwich (it's BIG) and mac & cheese

I visited Chat & Choo on an overcast Friday afternoon in July with a work colleague. McKenzie(sp?) was our server. We were welcomed warmly and invited to seat ourselves. I ordered salmon and made a special request for the seasoning. My sides were collard greens and sweet potato fries. My friend had the pimento cheese and bacon sandwich and mac and cheese. The restroom was clean and stocked with all the requirements (If they're looking for a way to renovate a bit, they can scrape and resurface the fun checkerboard tile). The food was really good!! The ambiance is just right for a downtown area with wood floors, funky tile entry, and exposed industrial look. My one teeny criticism is the view on the walk to the bathroom of that back room; maybe clean up all the chaos back there or drag a long curtain across that area. Music was good and not too loud. Service was excellent! Nice quiet place to grab lunch on a weekday. I'll be back for sure!

Ham and cheese omelette

This is probably a funny way to start a review, but the place was extremely clean, even way above our heads in the ceiling. In my experience with diners and cafes similar to this, cleanliness isn't high on the priority level when it comes to all the decor and items above your head. Even the ceiling fans were clean. Our server was extremely friendly and polite. We both had breakfast and it was solid food. Nothing extraordinary, but good. My friend had a ham and cheese omelette which was simple, but good. I had 2 eggs, potatoes, toast, and a sausage patty. The sausage had good flavor and was cooked well, not too greasy. The eggs and potatoes were good, but they didn't really have any flavor. I used salt and pepper which was fine. It was an overall decent breakfast. It was interesting to me as we were there during the cross over between breakfast and lunch that no one came in for lunch. I'm curious to come back.

Grilled dill weed rubbed salmon

Small town cafe with friendly staff. Our office is located about a mile down the street from them, so we decided to order lunch to go. We called the order in around 10 am and mentioned it would be picked up by 11:30. Our food was ready by then! Plenty of parking at 11:30am. Two of the staff ordered the Cajun duck breast with raspberry sauce ($15.75)they both enjoyed it and would give it 4 stars. Another co worker and I ordered the grilled dill weed rubbed salmon ($12.75) with sides such as cucumber salad, baby Lima beans and mashed potatoes. The salmon unfortunately didn't have much flavor, the cucumber salad was just pickled sliced cucumbers and onions. Another co worker ordered the chicken bacon cheddar jalapeño ranch sliders with crinkled French fries ($11.75) she enjoyed hers as well. The entrees come with either a roll or cornbread, the cornbread was delicious.

The pork chops were tender, perfectly seasoned, and large enough to share a plate. The restaurant has a spacious layout with a large covered patio and plenty of indoor seating. We'll definitely return, but we'll plan ahead for our next visit. ---4 stars??? -- Huck's is great, but unfortunately the parking is limited. The plaza designers severely under-planned the parking lot. Because nearby vendors share the spaces, each business only ends up with a handful of spots. The plaza parking is consistently packed during the day, and I often have to drive back & forth in the lot waiting for someone to leave. We considered hosting a luncheon here for 30+ senior citizens. There is a handicap ramp out front, however, the lack of dedicated & convenient parking was a dealbreaker.

Because of that atmosphere, I was honestly a little disappointed there was no complimentary bread like you get at a lot of higher end places. It is a small thing, but it felt noticeable given the vibe they are going for. We started with the loaded fries appetizer for $14.99. Flavor wise, it was good. The brisket and aioli worked well together, and the sliced jalapeños added heat without overpowering the dish. Unfortunately, the fries themselves did not live up to the rest of the flavors. The choice of fry just did not work for me, and it ended up holding the whole dish back. With a better fry, this could have been really solid. The seating was another downside. The chairs were uncomfortable, with curved edges that pressed into my kidneys the entire time. It reminded me of sitting in a high school classroom desk rather than relaxing at a restaurant. Service wise I didn't really know who my server was, maybe they switch? I ordered the mac and cheese and felt pretty neutral about it. I was not digging it, but I was not hating it either. It tasted more like Alfredo than traditional mac and cheese, which was not what I was expecting. The shrimp, however, were good and easily the best part of the dish. Overall, I still had a good experience. The atmosphere is nice, and while a few things missed the mark, it was not enough to turn me off completely. The restrooms are located on the side and not near the Hucks sign, which is good to know. I would return.

It's such a cool vibe. But every menu item is worth talking about. I can't wait to get back there!! I ordered the Field and fork fettuccine but it was so good I forgot to take a pic. I ordered a bowl of Brussels sprouts: goat cheese, raisins, balsamic glaze OMG! And it was so much. I shared with my son and sent some home to his girlfriend. Our entrees were salad. Mine was salmon, greens, goat cheese, strawberries, blue berries. Balsamic glaze, pickled red onions, and raspberry vinaigrette. The salmon had a grill flavor. I'm so accustomed to flavorless salmon. It was a treat. And definitely two portions. Son tried an Asian shrimp salad. He left no crumbs and loved the dressing. We had faux-jitos. They were awesome. Finally, we had beignets. They were fancy biscuits layered in honey. Not nearly as airy and fluffy as actual beignets. Service was friendly. Decor and atmosphere was awesome. Two TVs at the bar with close caption. Clean bathroom. I live 45 minutes away and I'm definitely going back!!
