They do a good manicure with a back massage included( an excellent one) and a heated towel wrap for your hands at the end. I used to be a regular customer at this salon until one day when the owner decided to give me a manicure. She cut my cuticle so badly that it wouldn't stop bleeding. The worst part was that she became angry with me and treated me rudely. I still can't understand why that happened. After a month, I decided to go back, but that's when she banned me from returning. She asked if I had an appointment, which I obviously didn't, as they always accept walk-ins. It was 11 a.m., and there were no appointments available. I had been going there for two years because her other employees were always nice and did a great job. Made an appt with Julie and waited 40 min. Was shuffled to one of the owners, Tracy. She started doing my nails and I realized it was not the correct color. Then had to wait for another tech to remove polish (deep red) since she had another client. The color I chose was lighter so my nails were a mess to remove the red. Asked Tracy if she could adjust the bill and said "No, the red will wash away and did nothing for my inconvenience". The red is on the side of my nails and hasn't washed off! I've been to Polished many times now, but I'm sad to say that this is the end for me. It's really too bad, because all of the techs who work there have been unbelievably meticulous, friendly, and professional. It's the owner who needs to go. Like other reviewers, I've been on the receiving end of her condescendingly telling me I booked the wrong services or wrong appointment times, but today took the cake. I had been in for an SNS mani and asked for a beige color. The tech, after looking for a while, pulled out a new jar of powder that hadn't been labeled. I told her it looked too pink to be right, but she insisted. Halfway through I again said it couldn't be right, at which point the owner came over and told me I was wrong. So I figured, what do I know, these people are professionals. At the end of the mani I took my pink nails up to the counter (see pic) to discuss with the owner. She still insisted they were the same color, and didn't even offer an apology. There are a lot of great things about this salon, but the owner's pattern of poor customer service has me looking for a new place. I can't go back to this salon if I can't even trust that the color I pick will be the one that ends up on my nails, and it's extremely disconcerting that the owner doesn't seem to understand that mistake. read more

My Father was going to have Cataract surgery at the Laser Center and the were not allowing any one in to wait, so they told me 2 hours, which was more like 3. So I have not had a pedicure since 8/2019 and my feet were looking pretty rough. So I called a few places and no one was answering the phone. I called Polished and they had an appointment in 30 minutes and would take me. I entered the place with a mask on and met Kristen, I think. I am horrible with names. They supply face shield for customers and themselves while performing pedicures. Nicely organized and clean. We chatted and I asked for a patriotic pedicure. I heard great things about this place and called one morning for a spa pedicure. I was lucky to get a woman named Grace. She was just lovely. A true professional. I loved every second of my pedicure. I don't like writing bad reviews - it is not my thing and I have been to Polished several times before, but this is my last time. I can't believe I just spent $55 on a pedicure that I could have done myself. To start, my appointment was at 12:15 and I didn't get into the chair until 12:30. The technician cut my nails too short and did not shape them. The whole thing felt rushed and at the end, I noticed a huge bump in the polish of my large toe that I had to point out to have fixed. When I got home and took a closer look, there was nail polish on my skin that was not cleaned off and the polish application was very sloppy. The technician gave me a $5 coupon for the next time and apologized that she was rushed. I am not sure why she was so rushed because there was no one waiting. Needless to say, I will be getting another pedicure to correct this one. read more

Will never go back! The owner is extremely rude. I wanted dip on my nails and she told me my nails were to short and doing them is an inconvenience for her. Told her every other salon I have been has never complained about my nails and are happy to do them. Whole time she did my nails she was extremely cold. Did not make eye contact with me. Once she was finished my total came to $85 I also got a pedicure. I gave her a $5 tip. As I'm leaving she follows me outside and tells me I tip to low and I'm required to tip between 15%-20%. The worst manicure I have ever experienced. The nail technician was curt and short with me. She seemed annoyed that I did not make an appointment even though they advertise "Walk In's" appreciated. The technician told me my nails had ridges and were very dry. I asked for a certain shape, square with round edges and she grunted at me and said "ok". She cut my nails with a nail cutter then filed to shape. When I asked her to fix one nail she said I was looking at it wrong. Polish was put on and it was heavy in some areas and streaky in another. When I asked if she could even the polish out she said with tone, "Honey, the color is neutral and this is how it is." I got up and left the nail salon. The entire manicure walk in to polish was :30 minutes total. I'm 48 years old and have been enjoying wonderful manicures in many different nail salons for 30 years. Great experience. Tia is amazing!! I will ask for her every time for myself and for my daughter. She painted my daughter's nails recently. She took her time and did a perfect job. She even let my daughter pick a design and when my daughter requested something that was not in her portfolio she said that it's not a problem and she expertly drew a rubber duck on tiny nails and even included details. Absolutely awful and left feeling robbed. Walked in to have a dip mani. I brought my own powder. Sat down and the lady was annoyed but accepted it. Started arguing with her colleagues about another colleague. Have no clue what was said but it was a lot of grumbling, shaking her head and pointing. Now due to stress, I bite my nails and 3 were very short so she offered to place tips on them. In the past it is usually 2-3$ per nail. Well fast forward to complaining about my nail color, bitching about the other employee who took the "only" electric file in the building, blaming my nail shape for the application, we finish the service by me washing my hands and her giving me a drop of AVEENO for me to massage my hands... I got to pay ... $68 effing DOLLARS! I said for what! Was told that each tip was 6$ but she "forgot" I came in with nothing on my nails so suddenly the base price was $45. The bill was $61! For that price at my typical salon my nails have had design and actually quality work. Never again read more

I went with my Aunt to her normal spot because her nails are always impeccable and after my appointment, I am sold. This salon is in a convenient location and very, very clean. I had an appointment at 5:30 on a Friday and was there until 6:50. They close at 7 and did not feel rushed at all. I always wondered why this nice looking salon had no customers. Now I know. Do not go here unless you are ok paying for abuse. I came in to make an appointment and walked out 2 mins later never to come back. I was appalled by how rudely I was treated here today. I came in to make an appointment for later that afternoon and to ensure they had my gel color. The woman said to pick a color so I looked at the gel colors. She said she had time to do it right away. I said I wanted to make an appt for later bc I had to be somewhere else. She then said again she can do it right away. I politely said "no I don't have time now, I came in to make an appointment for the afternoon (I live down the street and had a call scheduled in 10 mins I could not miss)" she then ran at me demanding and yelling "why did you come in now if you don't have time now?!" Like I had done something wrong. She was trying to intimidate me into doing what she wanted. I felt like a child reprimanded and yelled at by their abusive parent. Total bully! I am almost 40 but look pretty young, maybe she thought I was someone she could bully and push around? If I was more naive or less experienced with handling people I would have internalized this and obliged to her demands. I am horrified to think she may treat some people in this abusive way and they fall in line because they are too young or inexperienced to know this kind of behavior is not ok. Please do not send your children here. I apologized and said I was all set. Will never come back. This is not how you gain customers. I had been twice with v nice service and was excited to go back. You would think that they would be excited to have someone come in to schedule an appt. and instead to reprimand them for coming in to schedule an appt?! No thanks. I come in to de stress. Really sad because it is so clean & they take appointments seriously so it has been my go to.... not anymore. Last time I was there they decided they didn't-have time to do my manicure. So I went back 2 days later. ....Today I went & they switched technicians in between treatments (pedi & mani) so I gave $5 tip& Anne asked me what I had for tip for other technician & I said it was the only cash I had... she said its ok you can put on cc . So I added another &5.00 which i was fine with- thought they only wanted cash tips. Never got a hand massage after my manicure Anne just says " your done" which I was totally surprised about. I have gone in for a pedicure maybe a week after a manicure and I asked to get a couple of my nails fixed that I chipped myself. Horrible experience do not waste your time or money. The owner thinks it is OK to charge full price for a pedicure where water is stagnant, they do not cut your cuticles, they do not clean your toenails, they do not put lotion on your legs or your feet, or massage your legs and want to charge you $30. Got a gel manicure and she did not cut my cuticles or clean my nails, and no lotion. I also had an acrylic nail, because the nail had broken, and instead of filling the nail she put super glue on it and thought that that was OK. Then charged me $30 + $5 to take off gel. This was my first time here and the last time!! I cannot wait to go back to my regular place where just two weeks ago they did a complete full pedicure and gel manicure, and do not charge you to take the gel off when you're getting another gel manicure for the same price this place charged me. The owner blamed Covid for not doing a full job and charging full price, ridiculous. Oh and you only have about 25 colors to pick from so I hope you like basic. read more

I'm pretty sure you shouldn't leave a mani/pedi appointment in tears. I was insulted twice, ignored during my treatment, and then had my tip questioned. I am two months postpartum and as soon as I walked in my manicurist pointed to my stomach and told that I was 'getting big!'. Really not what you want to hear after just having a baby. I was then further embarrassed when she proceeded to berate me for my callused heels. She was literally so horrified that she had the audacity to take my foot and show it to everyone sitting around my pedicure chair. I explained that I have a skin condition that causes calluses but that did not stop the comments and chiding. At this point I'm visibly tearing up. My manicurist then spent the remaining time on the phone and attending to other patrons. She was so distracted she often performed the same actions on the same nails. I was so upset and would have been well within my rights to not leave a tip but instead left a few dollars. As I sat drying she had the audacity to come up to me and question what I left for her. I'm sorry, you insulted my body and spent my whole appointment distracted and I'm supposed to give you more money? I'm so upset. read more

I have been coming here for over a year. This rude person asks me if I had called about 15 minutes ago and since I wasn't there ( traffic at 5:30 ) exactly on time she said I have to wait - then she rudely tells me is this person here with you your daughter. Is it her first time, --- we have come here with her about 8 times other women chimed in " no she comes all the time". ( prom , graduation, vacation) . She then punished us and says " now you wait 20 minutes" and talks about us in Korea. I love the cleanliness of the salon and the additional services added in with a manicure such as shoulder massage and paraffin wax treatment. The nail technicians I have had have all been friendly and sweet. I've been to Polished about 4-5 times. Initially I really liked it for the cleanliness, nice owners, neck massage and paraffin wax included and they did a nice job with the mani & pedi. However, it seems as they're getting busier they don't have adequate staff and the service has become extremely slow and sloppy. I was literally there for 2 hours for a mani/pedi and most recently an hour and 20 mins for a regular mani with gel removal! They did very minimal cuticle removal so the finished look was sloppy. One problem is the owner who was doing my nails kept leaving to answer phone, take care of clients payments, and to answer other questions. I find this completely unacceptable and will not be returning to Polished. Too bad. Thought I'd found my new nail salon. read more

Two reviews in one (both independent visits)... I went to Polished in around September of last year when they were celebrating their 1 year opening anniversary. So cute - great quality experience and they gave out little soaps from Whole Foods as a "thank you for visiting". Most recent visit, I went in for a color change on my toes. The owner (my first experience with her) rang me up. I asked about the price (charged me $18; for reference other spots in North Reading and neighboring towns are around the $12 mark for the exact same service). She grabbed the price list, put it in front of me, and three times said it's absolutely $18 (to which I wasn't contesting and had already given her my card). I then went to leave cash with her to tip the technician who did my toes to which she mumbled in another language and then said "you give it to her" and motioned me behind her (technician was mid scrub and I hadn't seen the need to interrupt). Based on other reviews on here it seems like the only issue with Polished is the inconsiderate owner. Everyone else and the cleanliness is great but the owner is snarky and snappy, even to customers which I find makes it challenging to go back and want to support. read more

Spent 95 dollars for a mani and pedi. Within 24 hours, gel nail polish on 2 of my nails came completely off. I walked in today to ask her to fix it and she told me to make an appointment, she was too busy. So, you have no problem taking my money but need to make Another appointment to fix her mistake. I had heard from friends that this nail salon was exceptional and worth the extra $5.00 for a manicure or pedicure. It is exceptionally clean and the pedicure i got ($30.00) was terrific and included a paraffin treatment. The owners Katie and Ann were lovely and the music choices was perfect. As part of each treatment you are given a shoulder/neck massage which convinced me this is the only salon I will be going back to! They also have higher end pedicures that are about $75.00 and up that include a 20 minute massage and I suspect they are worth it. The basic was great though. I walked in and was served but I have heard they appreciate appointments being scheduled which makes sense since they provide high end service. read more

Had been going here for a while and recommending others go because we were getting great service. That is until I experienced the treatment I did this past week. Booked 2 weeks in advance to have 2 pedicures and 2 gel manicures, called a week before and added another pedicure no problem. We drive from a few towns away for the appointment only to walk in and have the owner rudely tell us we called and canceled. Why would 3 of us drive over for 10am if we called and canceled? Salon worker was insisting we didn't cancel and they could accommodate us but the owner just kept yelling that we canceled over and over. Her staff was upset. She let close to $300 dollars walk out the door and not to mention the rest of our business going forward. That is no way to run a business or treat people who have been spending money in your salon for over a year. 20 mins or so after we walked out they called my sisters number admitting their mistake and to come back.
