Charming local Farmers Market! A little of this, a little of that, you never know what you will…read morefind! On a recent Saturday in mid September, pumpkins were out in abundance, a welcome sight to say Fall is right around the corner. At one of the stands there were owls made from sliced tree trunks. Adorable! For just $15, I had to bring one home and put her on my patio. Lots of gorgeous heirloom and cherry tomatoes in vibrant red, yellow and orange. It's the season where everyone is giving me tomatoes from their garden so unfortunately I had to pass. It was difficult as they all looked sooooo good! The beautiful handmade greeting cards stopped me in my tracks. Unlike other cards with photographs of flowers, which are also gorgeous, this artist makes arrangements of dried flowers found locally, then prints onto the cards. The back of each card identifies the flowers and where they can be found. The cards are incredibly stunning, most in muted shades since the flowers were dried. For $2 a piece, I bought several! I'm forever sending cards as thank you notes or just to let people know that I am thinking of them. I have no doubt these cards will be well received. You can even frame them! If you come across this stand, buy 5 for an easy $10 And support this local artist. There was one bakery stall and they had many gluten free treats as well as keto. I went for the full on carrot ginger scone, with gluten and not in any way keto friendly. No regrets! Had me at ginger! The stand that sells a fresh salad mix and a fresh kale mix is a big hit. The leaves so tender as they are freshly picked that morning so with the kale, no need to massage To soften the leaves. Also lamb, jerky, a stand with a variety of pickled veggies. I'll definitely be back for a huge jar of gardenia selling for just $20. There was a stand with earrings and necklaces. Honey. Coffee. And of course apples and pears. Located in the small park on Union where "The Oregon Trail Ends," it is surrounded by roses bushes. This is a charming place to pick up your meats, fruit and veggies for the week. There are restroom facilities as well. Plenty of street parking. And a playground for the kids.

This should have been a beautiful morning, out with my best friend, while visiting the area…read more.. However, I was accosted by a market employee (volunteer?), telling me that my OBVIOUS service animal was not allowed in the food section of the market. I inquired about how people with service animals are supposed to purchase produce, and he aggressively informed me that SERVICE ANIMALS "aren't allowed" and that my dog isn't acting like a "service animal". I again asked my rebuttal, at this time he doubled down and demanded to know what service my animal was trained to provide, I should have just said "She provides a medical alert service", but I actually TOLD him the EXACT service that he provides. He did not believe me. I told him that if he had an issue with the service animal guidelines then he needed to take it up with the federal government. As I walked away crying, total public shame and humiliation, he continued to talk about me, to passersby, right in front of my companion. This was unnecessary, unkind and not legal. I would not ever return, nor would I direct any of my clients, friends, or family to frequent any event or establishment that humiliates people with handicaps and limiting medical conditions.

Located right on East 2nd, Discount Plus is a liquidation store that sells close out items,…read morereturned items from other chains, food products close to expiration, and items whose packaging is slightly damaged but the product is just fine. Clothing is brand new, never worn, and ranges from t-shirts to jackets to sweatpants to sweaters and accessories. You never know what you will find as product is always moving. Same with food items. Pasta, cookies, cereal, canned veggies and fruit, candy, bread, coffee, seasonings, soda, bottle water, lots of snacks and more. They are close to expiration but most have a shelf life far past that date. Items are arranged neatly and easy to see and find. Lots of cleaning products, too. Many are the Awesome brand found at the Dollar stores but they also have the main brands like Clorox, Windex, Snuggle, etc. What brought me in was the rakes, shovels and yard tools. They had a large assortment and at much better prices than big box or local chains. Even some planters in a variety of shapes, sizes and colors for far less money than elsewhere. Like $5-10. You need to wander around as the store has aisles going both vertical and horizontal and pathways that lead to areas which I guess could be considered a "department" like the garden supplies. Those working here are always unpacking items, arranging product and keeping the store organized and clean. They are super friendly and helpful, too.

Awesome selection and pricing home décor to food and like a min harbor freight excellent store.read more
