Being a grower's stand does not automatically guarantee low prices. This is a family business that's been here forever. Not always the friendliest folks in my experience. I'm guessing there may be some built-in animosity towards "outsiders" since Maryhill is just a tiny burb off the beaten path. The locals may not be exactly in love with the big city folks coming from across the river. I like this area and as a photographer I've gotten a lot of good images over the decades. But if you're walking around it will only take a few minutes before the local "posse" comes along to see what you're up to. I've occasionally encountered some blatant hostility just walking on the public roadway taking pictures of the scenery. So.... good place to pick up some fresh fruit. Not exactly the nicest or friendliest people you are ever going to encounter. Perhaps they have good reason to be so inhospitable but me and my camera are not a threat to anyone so I don't especially appreciate the antagonistic attitudes.

This is a third generation farm - their grandparents immigrated from Japan in the early 1900s. It's almost 300 acres and they've got apples, pears, peaches, cherries, berries, and probably more. The farmstand is open July through November. They've got a pick your own/U-pick options. They specialize in growing over 150 different varieties of apples, pears, cherries, and stone fruit. Their website is pretty up-to-date on which fruit are available at any given time. I really enjoyed stopping into the marketplace for a wide selection of pre-picked fruits, some of which had samples available. They were priced by weight and I was very pleased with the cost in the end ($12 for so many apples!).

I also walked through the orchard and loved that they labeled all the rows of trees so you can see all the many varieties. While I'm disappointed that the apple tasting still costs as much as last year, the experience is otherwise great and I'll be back.

Many of their their products are jarred for sale. They have several types of jams from local farms. Get the red-sour cherry and the marionberry! Oh, and the fig jam, so good with prosciutto on pizza or a crostini. They have lots of Dickey's pickled veggies, too: beans, garlic, asparagus, carrots, giardena. And so many salsas with various fruit. Don't forget to pick up a jar of local. honey - they have all sizes and the prices can't be beat. Very nice selection of local wines, too! I went a couple of weeks ago on a very warm Saturday. After a visit to their neighbor winery Analemma Vineyards, we came to the highly recommended Evan's Fruit Company. I had such a great experience finding and picking cherries from various trees. These beautiful prolific trees grew the most amazing cherries- the best I have ever tasted. It's encouraged that you bring your own bag of packaging to take your bounty home, but don't worry if you aren't prepared, they will give you a bag to take with you. The farm is full of green trees with happy dots of colorful cherries. I loved this experience and would love to return for peaches or something else that they grow depending on the season.
