Packer was a great stop! I didn't expect to find so many great things to try here. I found the samples table and tried a few different things. I ended up getting some jalapeño stuffed olives. These are some of the best I've ever had. The queso blanco was fantastic too! The cheese blend was great. Watch out for the hot salsas, they are HOT (in the best way). I got a hot cider from the coffee bar. It had just the right flavor. We got some donuts too. They were a little bland, but that may have just been that batch. We wandered around outside for a bit, the grounds have a great view, just watch out for the flies! The service here was fantastic too, very helpful! Great service, great food! read more

Super cute bakery and orchard with a ton of options for fall themed snacks. To be honest I was expecting HOT and Fresh apple cider donuts but they are prepackaged. Still good but I imagine there are better ones elsewhere. Everything else we got was worth the stop though! I got the pear spiced jam and a pumpkin cream empanada and wow both were amazing. We always made a point of stopping here when we went through the Fruitloop, but I think that yesterday will be the last time. Seems like every time we get anything from there now it is old and stale. Picked up a loaf of their strawberry pull parts yesterday and when I got home to have a piece, it seemed like it had been sitting out on the counter for a couple of days and that seems to have happened the last few times we've gotten stuff there. Packer is a wonderful family-owned farm where you can get delicious jams, preserves, salsas, pickled veggies, pickles, baked goods, fresh produce, ice cream, etc. Located in the country side of beautiful Hood River town between Columbia River and Mt. Hood, Packer farms and bakery shop is a great stop on the way to Mt. Hood National Forest area or to Hood River from Mt. Hood N F. I was like a kid in a candy shop looking at the different food items and salivating. There were so many delicious food items that I would have liked to buy. I sampled many jams/ preserves and salsas. From sweet to tart to spicy, there was a good spread. They were so good. I had a Huckleberry milkshake made with Huckleberry preserve and a Marionberry Cinnamon Roll. Yes, it's a touristy place but it is also a locally owned business located in a beautiful area that warrants a stop for a foodie adventure. read more

I'm officially addicted. I've been here like, a dozen times. My cousin and I stopped by this past weekend so I could show her the Fruit Loop. She told me she "didn't want to go shopping" and then spent $36 (here alone). This trip, I spent about $20. I've become a huge fan of the $5 pints of non alcoholic honeycrisp cider. My cousin and I also tried a bottle of cider, but didn't like it quite as much, even though it was higher priced. But the honeycrisp cider is to die for. So refreshing and naturally sweet. I've tried about half of their cookies, and really like them. My favorite so far was probably the lemon shortbread black and white. The cookies definitely taste homemade. A couple have had the incorrect amounts of baking powder or baking soda, but still come out pretty tasty overall. Out of all the farms I've visited so far, this one has the most samples. Although a bunch of jars sitting open in the heat would never be allowed where I'm from, my cousin and I sampled a bunch of things and didn't die. The only thing I really did not like was the apple cider donut. It was, frankly, terrible. But aside from that, they carry such a wide variety of jams, dips, sauces, snacks, honeys, and souvenirs. Customer service is always great. Still my favorite out of all the farms I've visited so far. read more

We have gone to this location twice and really enjoy stopping by here.I love that they allow you to have so many samples so that you can test the products before you buy them. Their jams and pickles are delicious. I also recommend giving the donuts a shot. We really enjoyed sitting out on a little swing while we ate our treats that we purchased. So much fun. So much to see. There is a wooden swing by the peach trees. You can do a upick. But you need to bring a steps too with you. I couldn't reach the peaches. One flat of peaches are $15. Upick are the same price. The back bakery area had so much baked goods. They even sell ice cream too. Jams, marinades and sauces. Various kinds. From strawberry to peach to cherry flavored items. They had a sample tables in the front for you to try out each of their marinades and jams. Pickled beets to mango salsa. My faith is more than restored in Packer! Stopped in late in the day during a trip around the Fruit Loop and they were going all out. They had tables set up outside with dozens of jams, honeys, and other canned items for sampling. They also were selling lots of apple & pear varieties, many of which also had samples, including an evercrisp apple that I'd never heard of before that is a cross between a honeycrisp and a fuji - yum! This is another one of those places you can get in trouble in. There is seriously so much it's hard to decide. There's plenty of parking and it's quite sprawling. There is so much to see and do here, definitely great for kids. We really want to bring our young niece here to check it out sometime. There are lots of activities but I noticed other things to make your visit even better. They do sell feed if you want to check out the farm animals but they also have bags of bright colored rocks you could totally bury in their excavation area. That's not something you see every day. They put out an enormous amount of items to sample. It could take you a while if you enjoy lots of different flavors in general. It's nice to be able to do that though so we knew which items we wanted to buy. You can also buy a selection of treats and beverages while you're here. Then there's the bakery with flavorful empanadas and giant soft cookies. Good luck NOT spending money here. This is an absolute must stop if you're out this way at all. read more

One of the best if not the best u-pick cherry farms on the fruit loop of Hood River! The orchard of cherry trees were filled with sweet ripe cherries. Only $6 per basket (approx 2lbs). Along with cherries the bakery offered scrumptious baked goods, jams, ice cream and cute mugs, aprons and other gifts. A wonderful experience up near the hills above Hood River. I hate to do a bad review, but I have to say something. We were there last Thursday for the second time, first time we had a wonderful time and everything we bought was really really good. This time we purchased a caramel apple pie, a cinnamon roll, and a loaf of jalapeño cheddar bread. The pie was tasty, but the apples were absolutely like chewing on rubber, the pastry was very thick and very dry and you couldn't even slice it. It just fell apart. We couldn't even slice the bread, it just fell into pieces with the cheese & the jalapeños going everywhere, we ended just trying to eat it in chunks with some butter and it tasted OK but, for what we paid for everything there we were really disappointed in what we brought home read more

Love this stop along the Hood River Fruit Loop! There is plenty of parking and they have quite a few picnic tables with umbrellas to sit and enjoy your purchased goodies. The staff is friendly and helpful. They have an awesome variety of goodies. They have the usual farm stand finds...fresh fruit and veggies, homemade James and jarred honey, etc. But they also have a variety of pre-packaged refrigerated items like garlic cheese curds and pickled veggies. They also have canned salsa, sauerkraut, BBQ sauce, stuffed olives, pie filling, pickles and relish. They offer a variety of baked goods as well...cinnamon rolls, cookies, breads, empanadas, pies to name a few. Everything is reasonably priced as well. I love this as a quick-stop for the "Fruit Loop". It is easy to access from Highway 35 and is a great showcase for the Parkdale/Odell area. When I stopped by I bought some fresh peaches to take home, as well as some delicious Cinnamon Rolls. And, I also got a local fruit Smoothie with yogurt and Whip Cream on top! With the stop while you are driving the Fruit Loop or out in Hood River to bring home some Marionberry pies, empanadas, their famous hot pepper jellies and jams, and don't forget to grab some of their jumbo cookies! There are easily a dozen varieties, ginger snap and spicy Mexican chocolate are my faves. They also sell BBQ sauce, pickles, fruit salsa, jalapeño bread, fudge and more. You can purchase items and have them shipped to your home if you don't live in the area. In pre-Pandemic times you could sample some of these delights to guide your purchasing decisions, but times have changed. In addition to the baked goods, there is an ice cream counter where you can enjoy cones, floats, shakes and sundaes, perfect in a warm day or anytime! You can't miss the red barn like building right on Highway 35. They have a large parking area and now have picnic tables spaced apart right at the start of their orchards. The views of Mt. Adams from here are spectacular, especially on a blue sky day with the snow capped peak standing tall and proud. If you can't make it out to Hood River, Packer Orchards has stands at the Portland Farmers Market in the Park Blocks and other markets in Portland. Often I bail the hot pepper jellies to keep in my pantry for quick appetizer, pouring the jam over cream cheese served with baguette or good crackers. Love this place! They have another location nearby with some family & kids activities, especially during the Autumn with outdoor mazes & otter fun. I prefer this location when it's Autumn for that very reason, so we can avoid the crowds of families and small children running around. This location gets very busy and packed, too, just without all those kid's activities. They have a large selection of cute home/kitchen decor, fresh fruit, jams, mustards, pickles & pickled veggies, and a phenomenal bakery. So many delicious baked goods to choose from it was hard to decide what to take home. They have plenty of taster/sampling jars open so you can try the various jams & condiments before you buy. We purchased a jar of jam, a jar of dill pickles (the BEST pickles I've ever had & I wish I had bought 2 jars), a jar pickled green beans (AKA dilly beans, LOVE these), a huge cookie (so many to choose from), a package of apple cider doughnuts (expect to eat one of these right away in your car, they are just too tempting), and a couple of small huckleberry pies (WOW good!). We stopped here as one of the stops on the Fruit Loop was here. There was a lot in here but yet nothing moved me enough to buy anything. I did buy a few apples but wish I'd waited. I bought my boyfriend a candy apple here. In the end he didn't like it. I would have eaten lunch here but the food was crap food. I'd say that this place is largely worth the stop for kids. There was a corn maze and a lot of stuff for kids to do here. So I totally see why this place is so popular! read more

So I left a review on Google earlier today about the Asian Pears I purchased about a month ago and you Tammi Packer responded stating I hadn't read the "fine print" concerning the Olympic Variety of your Asian Pears that are not edible for humans only the deer in the field enjoyed most of them and the compost pile got all but 1 ....attached us a pic of the lonely Asian Pear we purchased from you about a month ago !! It hasn't changed to golden yellow yet and I find it highly unlikely it will !! It's got mushy spots on it and I'm very saddened still about this purchase from your Orchard ....Reimbursement of 5 dollars would be acceptable or a gift certificate in exchange for the awkwardness of this situation!! One of the best stops on the Fruit Loop...Breads, cookies, assorted fruit, cinnamon rolls, ice cream, jams, etc... "Number Nine" does not have cider or U-pick, but it has eveything else! There is ample parking and some covered outdoor seating. The employees are very on-the-spot and friendly (unlike Draper Girls'). read more

A family farm that sells desserts and bakery goods, such as cookies, pie fillings, jam, honey, and shakes. The location is closer to Mt. Hood than Mt. Adams, but their field out front has a gorgeous view of Mt. Adams. The day was sweltering, so cookie shakes sounded like a great idea. You can sample the cookies before bringing one up to the counter to choose your ice cream. Optional complimentary whipped cream on top is also provided. Cookie shakes were $7 each and we got the following combinations: - Mint Ice Cream with Lemon White Chocolate Cookie - Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Ice Cream with Birthday Cake Cookie At first the shake was good, but I very quickly regretted getting one. It was extremely sweet and I wasn't even close to halfway through before I felt severely nauseous. Came here just for the samples :) mostly jams w/ wheat thins ($5 for small jars), 1 sample each of pickles, mango salsa, and BBQ sauce, apple pie dip mix, 4 cookie samples (fav was oatmeal, $2 each or 3/$5), 2 fudge samples (so rich! $7/block), and a rhubarb pie sample (good!). There were also ice cream and shakes available for purchase. I felt obligated to buy something after all those free samples, so I decided to get the MARIONBERRY CINNAMON ROLL ($4 each or 3/$10, they have regular cinnamon rolls too). It was good (& huge so I'm slowly working on it), but surprisingly not as sweet as it looks (not like Cinnabon).
