Juice that's a bit too over salted along with a few other things, but I still come out of most places feeling pretty satisfied. Well not Polas. We tried one fish and one shrimp taco each ($3.75 each iirc). These are good sized, double tortilla tacos expertly fried. I love that the cabbage was so finely shredded and pickled red onion was added. I usually prefer fish tacos, made with soft blue corn tortillas here, but the shrimp had so much flavor! No rice/ beans. They're just executing what they do best, and I can see coming here for a quick snack and trying the rest. I was in the same plaza at Dolce's bakery picking up pastries for my mom and the lady in line mentioned she was grabbing Pola''s Mariscos amazing ceviche for lunch. Everyone's recommendation did not disappoint!! Covid Safety - Take out only. Staff wears face mask and gloves. Customer wears face mask to enter. 6 feet markers for social distancing. Hand sanitizer provided at check out. Very welcoming and friendly service. I mentioned it was my first visit, and the girl behind the counter gave me recommendations of her favorites and the customers' most ordered items. I ended taking the recommendation for the Pola's Mix ($14.50), one of their most popular menu items. It is a ceviche with shrimp, octopus, crab, tomato, onions and cucumbers in the mix, topped with slices of fresh avocado and 4 pieces of tostadas on the side. So funny because I asked her if one order is enough for me to eat for lunch because I imagined some small container. She said it should be plentyyyyyy, and it definitely was. When I poured the ceviche into the largest bowl in my house (the huge pho bowl), it was filled to the rim. Yikes! Definitely enough for lunch and some later on for dinner too. The Pola's Mix was so delicious and fresh. Everything was perfectly balanced. Generous amount of the seafood. I especially loved the bites that have avocado because its' creaminess really balances with the acidity of the rest of the mix. Mhmmmm. It was soooooo goooddddd!! Best ceviche spot I have explored in the IE. I have been raving about this spot to my cousin. I definitely want to bring some over and drop it off for them since we are social distancing. The only time I have had fresh ceviche from a restaurant is when I go to Cabo. Yes, I have had ceviche from a market, but when I think of ceviche I think of Cabo..until I came here. I came on a Saturday and I had Pola's mix and of course, the weekend special menudo, along with shrimp ceviche. The seafood was so fresh and delicious. Shrimp ceviche is shrimp, but I highly recommend getting Pola's mix because it has octopus, fish, shrimp, onions, and it is topped with avocado. Ceviche comes with tostadas. Absolutely delicious and very sharable. The menudo was spicy and full of flavor as well. I loved the hospitality here. The server was so nice upon getting to the register and really wanted to get to know my husband and I. When he brought out the food you know it was made with love. After dining here twice, I felt I had to leave an honest review. This is the first restaurant where I didn't want to give a 5 but I felt obligated for several reasons. First of all, you can tell right off the bat that this family takes pride in what they do. They even had their young son out bussing tables and running food and he looked like he enjoyed it. That is passion! And for me passion is what makes an experience at a restaurant transcend everything else. Personally, I have had two of their French fry dishes and although they weren't the greatest, other things they offer are great. Their Baja shrimp and Baja fish tacos are some of the best in the area, great batter and great tortillas, which you can tell are homemade. In addition, the passion fruit agua fresca is the best ive ever had. My girlfriend had the cucumber lime and that was equally as good. They put real fruit in their drinks as well. The homemade salsas are great also. The restaurant is always packed on weekends, which is a good sign. They also play soccer games that are live, whenever possible. Just watching the family work as a team was enough for me to give this 5 star review. Their prices are also very modest for the quality. I highly recommend. Thank you for your services Pola's!
