Pokewave located near Yonge and Maitland (near Wellesley subway station) where they specialize in poke bowls as well as poke tacos. They also recently opened a new location in Markham as well. Currently, due to the pandemic, Pokewave is takeout only. Pre-COVID, they did have tables set up so that you could enjoy your poke indoors, however, that will have to wait until it's safe to do so. I ordered Pokewave through Ritual where I was able to pick up my order within 15 min. I opted for the mix and match poke tacos and got the sweet heat, fiery buds, and wassa' bae. Each poke taco uses a sheet of seaweed that is shaped into a taco shell to hold a variety of poke ingredients. Sweet Heat had salmon and creamy togarashi, fiery buds salmon and spicy mayo, and wassa' bae had ahi tuna and wasabi aioli. The Sweet Heat and Fiery Buds poke taco were similar in taste and it was not spicy at all. The wasabi aioli in the wassa' bae taco was unique. These small bite sized tacos are filling so 3 is a good option if you want a lighter lunch. Overall, the poke tacos were interesting but I've had better sushi tacos elsewhere in the city. I do want to go back to try their poke to see how they compare with other poke places in the city.

    $14 small size

Came here on a weekday for take out. They don't have any set menu items so I created a small bowl for $14. I picked half tuna and half salmon on rice, and it comes with 3 choice of toppings (avocado extra price, edamame, seaweed salad and mango for me). Portion was reasonable, salmon was fresh and well seasoned. I tried the sriracha mayo sauce, which made it creamy and a kick of spiciness. The place has a couple of tables and quite a few stools by the window for sit in option. Cute place with friendly service. I would say it is on par with other poke places in the area in terms of quality and price. Definitely a place to try!

My first time trying sushi tacos... So happy I finally got to try these torched poke tacos! I got 3 sweet heats and they were absolutely amazing! Pokéwave also offers other flavours that are spicier - which I can't do haha! The taco shells are crunchy and each bite is packed with flavour AND a slight kick of spice! These were absolutely delicious so I look forward to trying the Poké bowls (and more tacos)! Only thing was that the tacos are a bit small and the trays the tacos were torched on seemed a bit dirty. Definitely recommend giving it a try!

Was feeling like having torched sushi and saw the great reviews for this place, so decided to give it a try and ordered a torched poke bowl. It was not bad, but not really a stand out either. The strongest point of the food was the sauce - and it easily overwhelmed much of everything else. Still, it was overall tasty enough with reasonable portions, so I will give it a rounded-up 4 stars. :)

Are you looking for a poke place with a unique twist? POKÉWAVE won't disappoint! A must try is their tacos! I got their sweet heat tacos and it was mouth watering... The boyfriend ordered the spicy salmon poke bowl and I created my own bowl. I was surprised by how fresh their fish is. Even with marinade I can tell that Pokéwave does not cheap out on their produce. Price is fair especially since I got the regular size and I could only eat half. They do stuff your bowl to make sure you're full! Staff are also super nice and patient. I'm kind of picky and the staff working was able to accommodate my likes/dislikes and super patient and attentive with what I wanted. Thank you Pokéwave for making my experience a great one! I highly recommend this place to my fellow poke lovers !

I am always a sucker for new Poke in the area and decided to give Pokewave a try. They are still starting out and only offering takeout but the place is clean and inviting. I ordered a custom bowl with salmon and ahi tuna with a bunch of other toppings. I believe it was around $14 for a regular sized bowl which is pretty standard. I enjoyed my poke bowl and the sauces were tasty and ingredients were fresh but the fish:rice ratio was a little low. I ran out of fish and toppings halfway through and almost wished that they didn't give me so much rice because I had to waste some of it. They do weigh the protein out so you know you're getting a consistent amount each time. All in all I would give them another try and I'm sure they'll figure out the portion sizes soon enough.

Randomly felt like having poké for lunch so did a search in my area and found Pokéwave. The pictures and reviews looked good, and they also have an awesome promo, so decided to give it a try. I was worried about parking since they're located on Yonge St., but there was cheap parking available just a bit north on Breadalbane St. Their promo is any regular sized bowl and a set of 3 poké tacos for $20. I ordered that plus another regular bowl. I was going to upsize to a large, but the regular bowl looked like a decent portion. I'm a pretty big eater and the regular was just right for me. If you're a hungy boy or girl though, the large looked like 1.5x the size of a regular. I got a spicy salmon bowl with brown rice and mix greens, a wasabi tuna bowl with brown rice and zucchini noodles, and sweet heat poké tacos. The 2 bowls were packed to the max. All the ingredients were super fresh. I especially enjoyed the long strands of zucchini noodles. The tacos were surprisingly good. I expected the nori shells to be soggy by the time I got home, but they remained crispy and held up to all the fillings. I'd probably come back sooner or later to try a build your own bowl.

My favorite poke bowl place downtown. The different sizes are not only perfect (snack size for a quick bite or large for a hungry person) but the resealable containers make these perfect for transport. I like to load up on spicy salmon hot sauce and with other places I had some leaky/stainy bowls, but here the contents survived a variety of transportation methods (walking, stairs, subway, stairs, uber) and made it! You can see them make everything in front of you and then ingredients themselves are vibrant, fresh and colorful so you know its not old. The avocados were carved to order and the salmon was ridiculously fresh, plus if you get the large size bowls, everything is so jam packed its the best bang for your buck ever for a poke bowl place downtown Toronto!

DIY Salmon Bowl! Crab Meat Salad, Corn, Edamame, Fish Roe, Nori, Wasabi Aioli
    Alex S.

Clean crisp aesthetics with a neon sign to wrap it all up to make this place 100% gram worthy, friendly and helpful staff that guide you through the already easy process, great array of sauces for every palate! They have a decent amount of seating for those dining in and washroom located at the back is kept clean, great spot for a quick lunch or dinner! pick your protein and then choose your mix ins and toppings (crab meat salad is bomb dot com) , it's easy af. If you don't feel like doing DIY, they have pre-set bowls with recommended toppings for each of their proteins, price is competitive but quality is higher than competition. If you're not feeling a bowl and wanna try something different they also started doing TORCHED POKE TACOS!! I don't think I know of any other poke spot that does tacos or torched poke for that matter. really nothing more to be said that, simple concept but extremely well executed and high quality ingredients makes this a no brainer decision when trying to decide which Poke spot deserves your business.

Signature salmon and shrimp poké bowl $14 each
    Kathy Y.

I just so to happen to come across Pokéwave when I was craving something quick and healthy. Initially, I was drawn in by how clean and bright the restaurant looked. They had various signatures to choose from such as Salmon Poké, Ahi Tuna Poké, Shrimp Poké, Tofu Poké, and Tuna & Salmon Poké, all starting from $14. The main difference between the signatures was your choice of protein. Everything else was customizable. I ordered the Shrimp Poké with spring mix, jalapenos, wasabi aioli, corn, edamame beans, salmon roe, seaweed salad, and crab salad ($1.50). My boyfriend ordered the Signature Salmon Poké with white rice, cilantro, green onions, spicy mayonnaise, kimchi, mango, salmon roe, spicy cucumber, crab salad, and nori strips. The portions here are insane. I barely finished half of it - huge bang for your buck! The service here was amazing as well, quick and friendly. Overall, I had a great experience here, highly recommended!

Congrats on the grand opening! If you're ever in the area, I would recommend giving this place a try. The portions are huge, and they have a variation of different proteins. I ordered a build your own and, my friend ordered a pre-made Salmon pokè. Their sauces are made in-house, so it was defs tasty. In my bowl, I got the spicy mayo on the salmon and the overall, sauce was some type of sweet sauce which was a good mix. The place is a bit pricier than others, but the portions make up for it. The service was also very friendly!

Poked my head in while walking by, they're open for online orders only at the moment! Ubereats, doordash and ritual!

-cue A Thousand Miles by Vanessa Carlton- Making my way downtown, walking fast.... Big portions, great food & service, will not be disappointed... I noticed POKÉWAVE by their clean, bright sign but noticed it was all postered up with an "open" sign. So I curiously poked my head inside and asked if they were open for business. They said that they were only doing online orders until further notice, so I hopped onto ritual right away! They were quick, and friendly with quite the big portion of food. I know there are many poké styled restaurants in downtown Toronto, so there is definitely competition happening... with that being said I also had some high expectations as I frequent one of their competitors. I noticed that their fish was extremely fresh and also marinated separately, but you can still create your own flavour by choosing your sauces. The one thing that really stood out for me was their mayo sauces didn't feel heavy at all like I've noticed with some other places. The marinade of the fish is nice and light, a nice added touch of flavour, not at all fishy. If you can't choose between all their sauces, staff will happily recommend one that best fits your protein choice! I asked them about their cucumber topping, they told me they marinate them in house along side their crab salad, which is awesome and tasted super fresh and not too heavy as well. Overall, nice atmosphere, super clean and tidy. Friendly and interactive staff, many choices for beverages and toppings. Just can't wait to dine in when they finally open up, looks like it would be a great environment to catch up with some friends! Also really loved their light up sign, photo worthy decor.

The newest Toronto backdrop photo! #LoveIsRaw

POKÉWAVE was the new guy on the app and I decided to bit the bullet and order their signature salmon Poké. I was not disappointed and I will say....this is THE BEST I have had in Toronto so far. The marinade on the salmon is very flavourful and not too salty, rice is made perfect, greens were fresh, crab salad was great and the slices of fruit mixed well with the saltiness and the slight spice of the bowl. A couple of hours later I actually walked by the store and took photos of the front. The owner(s) were very kind enough to show me around the place and let me take photos before the grand opening madness happened. The interior is amazingly well organized and I'll add that the restaurant was beautifully bright, their new #LoveIsRaw lighting might be the new backdrop people will take photos in front of as well. The tour that the staff gave me was short but sweet. tldr; POKÉWAVE is THE BEST, the owners are amazing and be careful not to spend all of your money at this restaurant!!!

The sushi tacos were bomb! The poke was good too but a bit on the pricier side. I like the option of having zucchini noodles.

They've been a staple for poke in the area for years, however, their menu has expanded to include more Hawaiian foods like plate lunches and snacks (like onigiri and spam musubi). I recently stopped by Pokito to pick up take out for dinner as I had stumbled upon a $10 coupon from the restaurant over Facebook. Upon entering, the space is inviting and warm, with wooden accents throughout the space. There are several tables if you'd like to dine in. The menu is large and they also have daily deals as well. In the small fridge display they have a sample of their poke on display along with other items like onigiri, desserts, and drinks. Their poke bowls are likely the most popular items to be ordered but definitely don't skip out on the plate lunches as well! I opted to grab a garlic shrimp scampi plate lunch (tail-on shrimp sauteed in buttery garlic sauce on rice (can choose between white or brown rice) with mac salad and a salad slaw) for $22.50. I did have $10 off my order which was great. If you sign up for their rewards program you also get other deals as well (the next deal I get is 50% off a plate lunch for a limited time!). My order was made fresh which took about 5-10 min. I didn't mind as I just sat down to wait. Service was friendly and efficient. I had my garlic shrimp scampi plate lunch for dinner. Beware that the shrimp is really garlicy and delicious! Just be careful if you need to talk to someone afterwards because they will smell it. The rice absorbed some of that garlic flavour which made the rice even better. The mac salad was great and the salad slaw helped to cut through everything as well. Portions were large and I was full afterwards. Overall, a great place for Hawaiian plate lunches (and I'm sure poke as well!) in the Queen/Spadina area. Definitely will return to try more of their plate lunches as well as poke.

I had the spicy garlic ahi and the original ahi, and the tuna was so fresh I half expected it to still be swimming. It melted in my fat little mouth like it was apologizing for every bad life choice I've ever made. This honestly rivaled poke I've had in Honolulu, which is terrifying because that means I no longer need Hawaii--I can now die broke and mercury-riddled right here at home. The spicy ahi hits hard too. Caucasians, if you've ever cried during a Taco Bell mild sauce packet, you should probably update your life insurance before ordering. My only critique? More sides and toppings. If I'm going to spiral into heavy-metal toxicity, I want to do it with reckless abandon and at least three different crunchy things sprinkled on top. Still, this place is so good I'd happily shave a few years off my life expectancy for another bowl. Who needs retirement when you've got poke like this?

I changed things up and visited the food court at Atrium on Bay. It was nice seeing several stalls open at around 4:30 pm. It was a toss-up choice between My Sushi or Fusia Asian Kitchen. I looked at the former's menu and liked what I saw. An early dinner from My Sushi, it was! You can get a bunch of sushi rolls. There were many options. I took one look at the poke menu and knew I needed a bowl. I got a regular. You can also do a large. A Chinese couple owns this business. The man took my order. The woman prepared my bowl. The man was helpful and nice. He said that I could do rice or salad, or half of each, if I liked. I went with salad. For the sauce, I chose teriyaki. I also got a Diet Coke. I waited patiently for my food. It didn't take too long. The woman asked if I needed a plastic bag. I waived it off, as I was going to rip open and devour my food at the food court. I cracked open my can of Diet Coke. It was cold and hit the spot. I loved my poke bowl. The salmon was fresh and yummy. The mandarin oranges were a nice twist. They brightened this bowl significantly. There were crispy green bits that I enjoyed, but I didn't know what I ate... lol The greens are iceberg lettuce. I would have liked mixed greens, but the crisp lettuce worked out surprisingly nicely. The half-avocado's presentation was amazing. It was cubed and fanned out. This find was awesome! I would love to return for more. The regular-sized poke bowl was perfect. Down the road, I can see my getting a large. Perhaps I'll try the sashimi next. I love sashimi! (197)
