The prices are kind of steep but that's not unusual for the area and times. - Seaweed salad and crab salad both come with the order at no additional cost. The crab salad is pleasantly light and fluffy because it's not full of mayo. - The white rice has a good texture where the individual grains hold their form and the rice isn't soggy (I have encountered clumpy/soggy rice at other poke places). There was just one time where the rice was kind of soggy, but all the other times it's been consistently this perfect texture. I find myself eating the rice by itself a lot because it's good! - I enjoy the tuna, scallops, and spicy tuna. They don't pre-mix the proteins with a sauce before adding them to your bowl. Disappointing food for the price. There was nothing remarkable about the bowl. The ingredients seemed generic and the flavor was lack luster. Nothing stood out to command the $19.55 price for the bowl. The medium bowlcomes with 3 small scoops of your choice of fish, surimi and seaweed salad, and an assortment of toppings. The rice was mid at best. The food court is largely dead with most vendors having closed and the majority of seating removed. The last day at the Twitter or X ( call what you want ) building , what still remains after years in this building is one of my favorite bars in the city which serves one of my favorite drink that has juice but they don't serve alcohol here. The Poke Bar has been inside here for years and has served up some of the best poke bowls to my customization as I built my own bowl. My go to order would be a double scoop of salmon, spicy crab ( imitation) , double scoop of scallops, and spicy tuna. This would include some orange eggs (masago), seaweed salad and slices of avocado . Underneath it would be two scoops of rice on top it would be crispy garlic and crispy onion. Then top it all off some spicy mayo and Furikake seasoning . So many items at this bar to order you can get carried away. My new order is the O.G( I can relate) Poke. The O.G is a fish lovers bowl since it only comes with ahi tuna and sweet onion ( not too sweet) green onions and extra masago( fish eggs) and topped with Furikake Seasoning. I have been here twice within a week! So far, it is the closest place I have found near City Hall if I am in the mood for "sushi" at a decent price. The fact they are located in The Market helps ( bunch of other hot food options at other vendors). So much seating availability to people watch and enjoy your meal. Also great for grab n go. In the time of COVID-19, a poke bowl represents needed comfort one bite of fresh seafood at a time. With all those pricey food items crowded together between narrow aisles, the Market on Market is not the most conducive place for social distancing while digesting, but the $13.75 Medium Bowl provides hearty goodness and nice variety in one fell swoop. Again, I rarely ever give five stars but this place deserves it. You can't go wrong with just about any poke bowl kind of place, as long as the fish is fresh, the place is clean, and the service is good. This place had them all! It wasn't my favorite poke place, but it was definitely one of the most convenient. I think it's still good if you're looking for a quick meal and need to take it with you. The pros: The poke itself was good. The fish tasted fresh and definitely wasn't sinewy or hard in any parts. Albacore was solid. Convenient: it's inside The Market on the right of the entrance towards the end, which is close to a lot of the big landmarks and our hotel. For convenience alone, it gets a pretty good standing with me. Cons: San Fran prices. I felt that $16 for a medium with tip and all was a lot, considering that other downtown poke places in Seattle and LA are close to $11 for the same size and without some issues that I'm about to list. Lettuce: This sucked. Mine tasted old and hard, and I just didn't eat the lettuce here at all. Service was just wack. The ladies looked unhappy to even be there and just gave off some bad energy throughout the whole thing. I get that y'all have to work fast but at least have a mood to cheer customers up, not bring them down. Aesthetic: The bowl is pretty ugly for the most part. This doesn't affect my score of it since that is mostly affected by the price, lettuce and service, but man, it looked unappetizing when I got the finished product lol. Poké Bar is definitely one of my favorite poké spots in the city. Poké Bar is located inside "The Market" on Market Street right by the Twitter building. It is available to order through DoorDash and Caviar for delivery and pick up which is definitely a plus. I usually order a medium sized bowl (create your own bowl) with white rice, crab, seaweed and add on their fresh salmon, tuna, scallops, avocado as well as other variety food selections such as spicy mayo, ponzu, edamame, jalapeños and other toppings they offer. Their salmon, tuna and scallops are my absolute favorite simply because it tastes fresh and so mouthwatering that I can never order my bowl without these items. If you plan on eating in there, just know that there is small location where you can sit down and eat but beware-- lunch time is usually busy and tables are very limited! This is actually a really delicious poke place and can be really filling depending on 1) your scooper and 2) the toppings you pick. I know when I saw the prices, I hesitated. $13 for a poke bowl seems like a lot for me, but given that we're in the tech part of Market in The Market, it makes sense that their prices can be on the higher end. Usually I order half brown rice and half salad, but if you're looking to fill up, go for all rice. The medium gets you 3 scoops of fish which, like mentioned before, could be a lot or a little depending on who is scooping. That being said, the quality of the fish has been pretty good! I've only ever gotten 1-2 pieces with connective tissue (the chewy stuff) in the many times I've been here. The toppings are unlimited so I literally put almost everything except kale, pineapple, and corn. They'll also let you mix your sauces! Came here for lunch today and the first server was really, really rude. I think it's normal for people, especially me whose English is not my first language, to ask her to repeat what she said so I don't order the wrong thing. Instead she got annoyed, didn't even give me a chance to finish my order, and immediately 'throw' (not literally, but put my bowl down harshly with such sour and unfriendly face). Let me share the details a little bit here. It was at lunch time, before the rush hour, I came at 12pm sharp, and there was small line like maybe 4 people in front of me. I was waiting in the line and when it was my turn, here comes the first lady server, didn't say anything to me and just give me a nod (as a sign that it's now my turn so she gave me the look to come to the counter like a mafia), and she mumbles something which I couldn't hear. So I was like, 'pardon me?' then she got annoyed and started acting unfriendly while repeating her sentence with rude tone because I couldn't hear her in the midst of lunch rush. After I told her I wanted brown rice, she asked me what kind of fish I want, then again, I didn't get what she said because they're not only serving fish. Normal server will usually said the 'protein' because there's also octopus, shrimp, scallop, tofu, etc etc. So I got confused when she asked "fish" and my immediate reaction was, "what?", which apparently ticked her off because she then yelled, "FISH!" She gave me really, really less ingredients (I was comparing the way she put the ingredients for me with the customer after me, which is my coworker who laughed at me for having this drama with the server). I can understand if the restaurant wants to keep the cost low by giving less protein (or as the server said, "fish") but they are really frugal to even the imitation crab, which definitely not costly because I usually bought it in the market. Even for the vegetables, the server didn't even wait for me to finish my order, that cranky lady was annoyed with me when I said "I want cucumber, corn, kale, edamame, and..." (she didn't even wait for me to finish, she immediately dropped my bowl rudely to the next server. I think she's completely done with me). I mean, come on, it's not my problem if she hates her life or her job, but why did she put it on me? I had to ask nicely, more like beg, the next server to add some masago and ginger to my bowl. But seriously, for the price, I think they could provide better servers and more generous "cheap sides" like kani (imitation crab) and wakame (seaweed salad). It's true that they have good quality and fresh "fishes", but if the overall experience is unpleasant like I had today, I'd rather go to some other poke place with better service next time. I liked the salmon and scallop the best and would double the number of scoops for those two. House special sauce (containing soy sauce and sesame oil) went really well the salmon and scallops, but they didn't mix it with the spicy tuna cause that already has flavoring. I feel like this place helps to keep high school or very young college students employed. I went with the Firecracker because it sounded relatively spicy. Brown rice, of course. For $12.50, it was a good-sized portion. This particular option was a bit too creamy for me, and I was dousing it with sea salt. I'd want to try a different premade option next time, or even create my own, but I was not totally compelled to return to this particular poke place again. I know it's ridiculously expensive to open a business in San Francisco but I hope Poke Bar considers lowering their prices a bit to be more in line with other poke eateries in the city.
