Shoutout to David for being the first (hopefully the first?) to review and tip! We came on grand opening day but missed the first 50 free bowls :( oh well! Essentially a chipotle for poke bowls! I ordered 2 proteins with sushi rice - spicy tuna and marinated salmon. For toppings I got seaweed salad, corn, crab salad, green onion, spicy mayo and eel sauce. One bowl was $12+ which is pretty steep in my opinion. Also add avocado and that's $1.50. Pretty expensive and the bowl wasn't huge but apparently this is standard price according to David. No complaints about the actually bowl and the guy gave me an appropriate amount of spicy mayo thanks guy! Not bad and probably will return just because it's close but expensive! Uhhh...yes! This stuff was uhmazing. It's like the Chipotle or Subway of poke bowls, with all the quality! I don't live in the DC area and I am bummed we don't have these in the PacNW. I told them I was brand new and they explained everything very clearly, although the signs make it all pretty self-explanatory. You pick your base (from white or brown rice, greens, or zucchini noodles) and you can pick 2 and do a half and half if you want. I picked brown rice and zoodles (tryin to be healthy y'all). Then you pick your proteins - 2 minimum, but you can do 3 or more for extra $. They do have tofu if you prefer to go veg. Then you pick your veggie toppings. There's so many! I chose carrots and ginger and cilantro, jalapeños, pickled radish, red onion...so many choices....get all 20 if you like! No extra charge!! (Except for the couple of premium items like avocado). Then you pick your sauce(s). Again...so many! Spicy ones! Then a crunchy topper. I chose seaweed strips (ah, crunchy salty goodness). All that runs about $13 and it's totally worth it! It is a substantial amount of food, and it all tasted really fresh. I will return on my next trip. read more

I am writing this review based on the Meat that was in the beef bowl I ordered through Uber Eats. I wasn't sure if it was meat that I received and sent an email to them, as I was told to, but no response. Although the restaurant was nice and has offered two free bowls I am disappointed that any restaurant would allow something like this to go out and there doesn't seem to be any interest in seeing the product that the customer received. I honestly fell in love with this place the moment we walked in. We were greeted immediately by what turned out to be the manager. He clearly and patiently explained all our options for creating an amazing poke bowl. Which by the way, was the first time I had ever had one. The available selection of protein choices and basically unlimited high-end options was terrific. I am a "big portion" eater and I was surprisingly more than satisfied with the smaller of the two options. This may not always be available however, we received a free dessert (mochi ice-cream) by checking in on Yelp. My one and only complaint about this restaurant is that they do not have a location in South Florida. If they did, I would probably eat there every day. It was THAT good. read more

I have passed by this place many times, so I finally decided to go check it out. It was also my first time trying poke, so I had no idea what to expect. Making my own bowl of poke was quite simple and I loved the choice of having two base and proteins. There were so many options to customize the bowl, so I ended up getting so many toppings because I wanted to try everything! All the ingredients in the bowl tasted together quite well, to my surprise. The bowl was very filling and I couldn't even finish the entire bowl. You definitely get a lot of food for the price you pay. I also got Thai iced tea, which was actually pretty good and perfect for me - not too sweet. I completed my meal with the free mochi ice-cream, which I received as a check-in offer. Overall, the food and service were great! The food is perfect for vegetarians and non-vegetarians alike. Literally sushi heaven... if you like convenience, chipotle and chirashi, Poki DC is your place. So many alternatives for those who prefer cooked sushi, too. You're given the option of zucchini noodles, spring mix, brown or sushi rice as your base and two protein options (up-charge for more). They typically offer chicken, beef, cooked squid salad, ponzu marinated raw tuna or salmon, regular raw tuna or salmon, avocado and egg salad or tofu. I think they have shrimp too. Then you get to add your fixin's (all free except for seasoned egg or seaweed salad for beef bowls). I always get the marinated tuna and salmon, with half rice/half spring mix, scallions, edemame, kani (imitation crabmeat salad), masago (roe/fish eggs), seaweed salad, sesame sauce and eel sauce OR ponzu sauce and lastly, seaweed flakes. The fixin's menu includes like 15 other options - off the top of my head, I remember corn, onions, kale, seaweed, pineapple, pear, peppers - all sorts of other choices. Their reward system gives you a free bowl for every ten purchased, which is great for lunch goers. Friendly and very kind staff. Very consistent with food quality, serving sizes and cleanliness. My husband and I love this place. Once we discovered it we were back about 8 times in 6 weeks. There is a choice of brown rice, white sushi rice and zucchini noodles. The fish is fresh... salmon, spicy tuna, tuna, yellowtail (extra $) and a number of other options. After you've chosen those items you move on to toppings...they have edamame, onions, cilantro, corn, green onions, seaweed, kale, crabmeat, masago and MORE! Location is by the movie theater and across from burger fi. They have fewer options than another poke place I ate at but good nonetheless. I ordered the tofu bowl with sushi rice some veggies and yum yum sauce. The sushi rice was delicious and the toppings tasted fresh. The tofu was lackluster and is the main reason i'm giving them 4 stars. It was plain and lightly cooked with no crunch or texture. It ended up just blending in with my rice adding nothing texture wise. I also tried their thai tea which was good but sweet. That's expected of a thai tea. However the staff were friendly and helpful since it was my first time at this location. I'd probably not come back unless i'm in the area again. read more

My husband is a fan of this place and he introduced me to become addicted with Poki bowl! I normally don't like the texture of raw fish but Poki is different! The flavor of everything inside the bowl mixing, make the best flavor of all that I don't even notice anything besides delicious flavor! Their Michu ice cream is soooo good. I'm so glad that they're here in Rio just because it's always the best place to find great restaurant and good food! So happy there's such a yummy Poke place available in the area! The fish is always so fresh and the toppings so delicious! My go to is definitely the marinated salmon but I'm trying new things every time I go. I have had awesome experiences here but my last time here the line was long and there were only 2 people working. It wasn't great seeing one of the staff bullying another one for working too slow. Definitely turned me away from this place; I know the line was moving slowly but you should handle that situation better. He was yelling at his coworker and I could feel the bad environment. Definitely needs to be worked on, have more staff on if you know you're going to be busy. read more

Fast casual poke spot where you pick fish and toppings that you want. The salmon and marinated salmon was fresh and I liked the zucchini noodles, fish eggs and edamame. They charge $1-$2 for some toppings like avocado, seaweed salad so you can easily go up to $16-$18 for a bowl. You can put sushi rice, brown rice and quinoa, mixed salad greens, or zucchini noodles as your base... since I'm eating a ketogenic diet I was very happy to see the zoodles. Poki DC is a new spot that opened up in Gaithersburg RIO. It's a great add to the food places around Washingtonian. It's a choose-your-own toppings style so be prepared to come with an idea of what you'd like. They also have a mochi bar with different flavors such as strawberry, mango, chocolate and others (these are all ice cream fillings). I added Salmon and spicy tuna to mine on top of sushi rice along with scallions, radish, masago (fish eggs), and others. It's a great spot if you're looking to cool down and if you're hungry. They give generous portions! They also had a wide selection of asian drinks such as calpi (yogurt soda drink) and you can add dry toppings near the utensils. read more

I enjoy having a poke location in Gaithersburg. It's pretty good. I usually get a half rice/ half salad as my base, with my two proteins (salmon and spicy tuna usually). I like the variety of toppings and that you can add the extra crunch/ onion/ garlic/ seaweed yourself after you pay at a separate counter. There's usually been enough seating when I've gone, but it is a small space, so I usually get it to go. Very filling for lunch. The reason not 5 stars? It's not the most amazingly mind-blowing poke I've had. Flavors are good, but I've had better poke in DC. Sometimes the fish flavor profile is different, sometimes it's super fresh, sometimes it just tastes like it's been in the fridge too long. The toppings are also fairly straightforward and aren't super exciting like other places I've been to. read more

Finally a Poke in Gaithersburg! Came here on a Thursday night to grab dinner and was not disappointed at all. I had the Sushi rice with Spicy Tuna and marinated salmon. I topped it off with edamame, seaweed salad, corn and sriracha mayo. Overall I enjoyed my food. Maybe in the future I'll get the sauce on the side just to be on the safe side. The restaurant is located next to Nandos in Rio. There is a parking garage right in front of the spot, and also few spots in front of Poke DC. Overall I enjoyed my experience. One note i have is that maybe they should offer more spicy protein choices, like Leid Poke does in Tysons Corner, but overall great spot. I will be back for sure. read more

Came here for a healthy post-movie meal and it didn't disappoint! FOOD There is a decent selection of combinations you can make with your meal. I always go for the sushi rice because I love that sushi vinegar taste. Their zoodles looked pretty good too -- might go half and half some other time. I got the shrimp (it's cooked) and unmarinated salmon because I'm more of a purist when it comes to my raw fish. I couldn't even tell you how many toppings I got because I got almost all of them! The eel sauce is a safe go-to for those who've never tried poké before -- it's sweet and salty. The seaweed salad is an all time favorite of mine. The toppings bar was so clean with great variety to choose from. ATMOSPHERE This place was impeccably clean. I was thoroughly impressed. The counter was spotless and the trash area was very neat. Grabbed a nice window seat and was able to people-watch while I enjoyed my food :) SERVICE The employees here were so patient! I came here with my entire family, who had never had poké before and were uncertain of what they wanted. It took a bit of time for us to get our bowls made, but we never felt rushed or discouraged. This was our first time here and it was very good. I agree with the other reviews - the food is fresh and tasty. The only other Poke place I've really been too is Honeyfish Poke in Rockville, and this place is way better, in my opinion. The food tasted fresher, the service was way faster and I liked all the "crunchy" add ons they have that are self-serve, after you pay. They also have a great selection of bases - rice, zucchini noodles, salad, quinoa, etc. I got salad with spicy tuna and salmon. I enjoyed mango and cilantro and several other toppings and dressed it with Ponzu. My friends enjoyed the Citrus Miso dressing. You can ask for more than one in little cups, so you can try different ones. I plan on going back again soon. OH and if you check in on Facebook or Yelp, you get a FREE Miso soup or Mochi ice cream. Deducting a star because I find that they are stingier in the protein quantity than poke papa and honey fish. I do really like the toppings like fresh corn, hijiki salad, crab meat salad, and seaweed salad so this place has that going for them. I think they're a great addition to Rio so I don't doubt they will have a good crowd of folks coming through but I would like to see a little bit more protein in their scoops so I don't feel like I'm eating a veggie bowl! My daughter offered to bring home poki bowls for dinner so I cannot speak to the ordering process or speak to the restaurant since I was not there but I can tell you it was very yummy. I usually have no problem polishing off a meal, regardless of the serving size and I have not had from anywhere else so I do not know if it was as generous or not. But I can tell you that I had a hard time finishing it in one sitting and just polished it off right now for my lunch today. Now, that's not always the case. I did have a bit of a stomach bug this week which may have impacted my ability to polish it off in one meal : ) Thank you to the fellow yelpers who with their photos of the serving line and menu helped me come up with the order my daughter placed for me. I do regret not experiencing that in person. The way my daughter described it to me..."its like a Chipotle you go through the line and pick whatever you want", so I will pass that along to you.
