I found this by chance. My lucky day. It did not look like a lot of food at first, but was very filling and delicious.

All I can say is, I wish we would've tried it sooner. The portions were large, the ingredients were fresh and the sauce selection and quality were excellent. We ordered a make your own bowl for my wife with 4x spicey salmon over white rice with her favorite fixin's and I got the Spicy Sea Wrap and Ahi Tina Poke snack. All delicious! I definitely recommend adding a side of the cucumber wasabi aioli to your order as well because it's out of this world delicious. You could dip some cardboard in it and make it enjoyable. All in all an excellent local spot with top notch customer service and incredible food. We're going back for lunch next week.

They were also super patient with us as this was our first time. I actually won a gift card giveaway on Instagram so I finally got to use it. Thank You. I opted for the shrimp poke bowl with lots of sauce and toppings atop greens. Hubby ordered a spicy tuna bowl also with lots of sauces and toppings. I was happy to see a list of options and toppings on the glass because everything was covered so I wasn't able to see what they had available. I liked how they have specialty drinks; I ordered the mahalo colada and hubby ordered the dragonfruit juice. Their ice machine was out of order but the drinks were cold so we got them anyway. Our bowls were yummy. The drinks were okay... I would probably come back again when in the area.

I've had Amura on my list of places to try for a while, and what better way to spend a Friday night…read morethan with sushi. We arrived around 7:30pm and placed our order about 10 minutes later. Since it was a busy Friday night, the wait was a little long, we didn't get our food until about 8:30pm. But let me tell you, it was worth the wait!!! We ordered the Tuna & Salmon Sashimi (sadly the Yellowtail was sold out), along with the Wasabi Roll, Fire Cracker Roll, Rainbow Roll, Virginia Beach Roll, and Spicy Salmon Roll. Every single bite was phenomenal! The fish was fresh, the rolls were all unique but very tasty, and my friend and I literally ate every last piece lol. The staff was kind enough to let us enjoy our meal even though they close at 8:30pm, yet they suggested we come earlier on Fridays if we want to thoroughly enjoy the dine-in experience without feeling rushed. The restaurant itself is fairly small, it only had about 5 tables and a bar area, but you can tell it's a local's favorite and now it's officially one of my favorites as well lol. I'll definitely be back soon. The sushi here is absolutely top-tier. Just FYI, don't get tricked by the GPS, it might direct you to the stores alongside Shore Drive. Amura is actually located on Pleasure House Rd. You're welcome! :)

Regardless, the staff was friendly and fully accommodated us during our entire visit. Amura is one of those spots that doesn't look like much upon first glance, but their focus on food and service makes this essentially a hole-in-the-wall gem. I must stress, this place isn't jacked up or anything (the venue is clean, organized and works perfectly for what they want to achieve service-wise), but the aesthetic belies its incredible sushi and friendly service. Also, although Amura has a Shore Dr address, it is located the Chic's Beach Shopping Center, but is on the Please House Rd side of the strip mall. If you don't know that portion of VB, it may initially be confusing. The items we ordered (btw, ordering is a little old school - they provide menus, but you order on a separate sheet of paper using an also-provided writing utensil) and enjoyed were: Tuna Sashimi Salmon Sashimi Wasabi Roll Fire Cracker Roll Rainbow Roll Virginia Beach Roll Spicy Salmon Roll Let me tell you, I haven't enjoyed sushi this much in ages. That's partially on me because I've defaulted to dining at the acye a la carte sushi spots. Also, a few months ago, nearby Misako took sushi off their menu (if you're wondering, I'm afraid it's permanent... at least for an extended hiatus), so I was left to find a new go-to for sushi. Regardless, we devoured ALL the sushi we ordered, which was impressive since my appetite isn't nearly what it used to be. But Amura's fish is so fresh, and their flavors meld so well with the fish, that I couldn't help myself. Along with fantastic and gorgeous company, this visit to Amura was top shelf. I had a great time on this evening - Amura played a big role with that. Thank you, Amura! I can't wait to return. JV

I ordered the spicy umami miso ramen with tofu, karaage, and a soft-boiled egg, and it was absolutely delicious--rich, comforting, and full of flavor. I'll admit I went a little overboard with the add-ons, but I was just too excited and couldn't resist. It's a hidden gem tucked into a shopping center and easy to miss from the main road, but there's plenty of parking and once you're inside it's much more spacious than it looks. The staff were friendly, service was quick, and everything came out fresh. Prices were very reasonable too, especially for the portion sizes and quality. There's also a wide menu beyond ramen, so I'm looking forward to coming back and trying more. Before leaving, I grabbed a brown sugar boba milk tea too. I was already full, so I saved it for later--but even then, it was still really good. Overall, a great first experience--I'll definitely be returning!

I absolutely love this spot because it's never super busy, the ambiance is nice and the service is always great. I ordered the Spicy Tonkotsu Ramen w/Oxtail and an extra soft, boiled egg. It was served very quickly and it was great. The broth was savory, the oxtail was tender and the noodles were perfect. I ate the entire bowl. Unfortunately, a few hours later, I didn't feel that great. I'm not sure if the pork or oxtail were bad but something did not agree with my stomach at all. I felt awful! That was the first time I had that experience with their food so I don't want to count them out but it may be a while before I return.

This latest stop in Virginia Beach came after 32 hours of travel and almost no sleep. I walked in right as they opened, sat on the patio, and was taken care of immediately. From the moment we walked in, the atmosphere was perfect. We were seated in a booth near the live band, and it created such a fun, relaxing vibe. The dim lighting gave the restaurant a cozy, intimate feel that was perfect for a night out and really added to the overall ambiance. Before our entrées arrived, we couldn't stop eating the focaccia. It was warm, fresh, and so flavorful that we immediately wished there had been more. We also ordered the beef kebabs with chimichurri sauce, and they were incredible. The beef was tender, and the bright, herb-filled chimichurri brought everything together perfectly. Honestly, I could have used another serving of both the bread and the sauce! By the time our main courses arrived, we were already pleasantly full, but that didn't stop us from enjoying every bite. My husband is a creature of habit--ever since our first date, he usually orders the same or very similar dishes. The only reason he branches out is because I love cooking and introducing him to new flavors, or he'll happily steal a bite from my plate when we go out. This time, he ordered the steak with mashed potatoes, and it was cooked beautifully. The steak was tender, flavorful, and paired perfectly with the creamy mashed potatoes. Between the delicious food, the live music, and the inviting atmosphere, this restaurant made my birthday celebration even more memorable. It's the kind of place that's perfect for a special occasion or a romantic date night, and I'd gladly come back again.
