Absolutely LOVE this place! You can tell the owner/manager loved what they do and is very passionate about their food. All sauces are made in house, even the soy sauce. If for whatever reason, you aren't satisfied, the owner will make it right it correct it. Most of their bowls are custom made to your order, where you pick what you want in it... which means if for some reason you don't care for it, it's kind of on you because you are the one who chooses what you want. That said, they also have certain poke bowls that you can order as they come. Which takes out all of the guess work. Examples are the Sweet Heat Chicken bowls and the Pineapple Jalapeño chicken bowl. Both of which are my favorite! It's all made fresh to order, so sometimes there might be a wait. But for the most part, it all comes out fairly quick. I love coming here to eat. It is one of my favorite places in town. I try to stop in whenever I can to get some spam musubi on the way home and getting a poke bowl is just a bonus. And you don't have to enjoy raw fish to eat a poke bowl. I'm not a huge fan of raw fish so I opt for crab and shrimp! They also offer chicken for those who don't like raw fish! I ordered a Build Your Own Bowl with fresh tuna. I enjoyed it very much, but the tuna was a bit "anemic" looking. It tasted good and the texture was firm (as it should be), but the pale color threw me off a bit...I actually questioned if it was salmon when I first looked at it. If not for the anemic tuna, I would have given it 5 stars because all of the other ingredients were fresh and delicious. They sauces were also very good. This afternoon I went over to the Poke Stop, located in the CFH, where Rachael, Chef and Owner, had just made some of her "Sticky" Ribs...Now these will not be like the BBQ that we are used to, they will not fall off the bones. They have a chew to them that I've noticed at other Asian restaurants. But Y'all...The ribs are meaty, flavorful, as well as filling. The sauce was sweet. Now this was nice, I was able to ask questions and well as give my opinions on the food I ate. To be honest there aren't a lot of restaurants that the Management Team/Owners come out to the table to ensure that the food was to your liking. After carefully scanning all of the eateries, I came back to Poke Stop to place my order. The staff was extremely friendly and even offer suggestions. The Red Volcano sauce was her favorite bc it had spice and was packed with flavor. I made the mistake of coming here at noon on a Sunday. I know I know...I must really enjoy torture. It was hard find one empty seat in the whole place, after placing my order I finally found a bar stool. You can sit anywhere, even if it's not the restaurant you ordered food from. On busy days like this, take what you can get. I ordered miso soup and a custom poke bowl with Tuna, salmon, cucumber, radish, edamame, seaweed salad, white rice, and honey ginger sauce. Within 5 mins of ordering, it was ready, they will call your name, so keep an ear out. My meal was delicious, the soup was perfect and the poke bowl had a great flavor. One critique I had was on the presentation. Every poke bowl I've ordered in my life is usually beautiful, with each ingredient taking it's onwn section of the bowl, protein in the middle and the sauce drizzled generously over all of it. This pone bowl was unfortunately the least pretty one I've had. All of the ingredients looked as though they were tossed together and scooped onto the right. See pic. The staff is wonderful and the poke` is even better! If you like spicy food, I highly recommend The Fire Eater. I had it with salmon and tofu. This isn't your run of the mill grocery salmon and tofu, either. High quality ingredients you can taste in every bite. The volcano sauce is just the right amount of spice. Not overly spicy. Just enough to make things interesting, but without over-taking all of the other ingredients. What really made this dish sing, for me, is the pickled ginger. It cuts through and highlights the salmon. Here is the plus, though. Their staff is wonderfully sweet and patient to us folk that are new to poke`. I had try poke several times in California and was excited they opened this one in Jackson. I got custom salmon bowl and custom shrimp bowl. The waiter got my order wrong as I ordered one brown rice and one white rice, but it came with two brown rice. On top of that, the whole bowl is cold. It doesn't bother me as much since I had salmon bowl, but the shrimp bowl (my friend got) doesn't come with a lot of favor and shrimp was chopped too small with the price you paid. Being from California, I've tried countless of poke places that do Hawaiian bowls similar to poke stop's. Poke stop has the best poke hands-down. What makes their poke the best is their homemade sauces and fresh ingredients. Their sauces were developed by Rachel which is great because I'm tired of all the same basic sauce recipes other poke places tend to duplicate. My favorite is combining the sweet soy and volcano sauce; it's sweet, spicy, and a little tangy. All their ingredients are fresh and prepared daily which is no easy task when serving raw ingredients to a large crowd. Rachel is highly attentive to detail and makes sure that her team throws out anything that is of questionable quality. That's why it won't be uncommon to see her work alongside her team if you decide to grab a bite to eat. I've read some reviews which mentioned that poke stop gives too little and her food is bland. Her portions are quite standard when compared to poke anywhere else. If you get the luau or the poke nachos, those portions are generous. Her food is also VERY flavorful. Some sauces are even too flavorful at times but I just ask for less sauce and that does the trick. The poke bowls and nachos are amazing. Idk how they keep those wonton chips super crispy, but it's great. Their ribs are good, but a bit too flavorful for my taste. However, they ALWAYS sell out so I was lucky to try some. If you're craving something that tastes similar, they have the chicken bowls as well. They tend to have specials every Wednesday's or Thursdays but I didn't get to try any while I was in the area. read more
