They don't honor what they actually have on their Yelp page. According to owner who is not there they do but workers refuse

Came back here two years later and its worse than what it was in 2022. For a bowl that is about $20, with half of the items being out of stock. Yet they still charge full price. Staff are slow, and when you ask them questions, they are slow to respond. They also have a yelp offer that they dont honor. The staff said that the owner does not honors it, and when you contact the owner via message, he says he does so who knows who is not saying the truth. Definitely wont be back ever again for mediocre food and slow staff and overpriced items.

Haven't been to this spot since it first opened so I'm glad I got to stop in. Went right before closing hoping to get a healthy meal. Most of the proteins were sold out so I was bummed but I was still able to get hooked up with a fat bowl! Ordered a medium with 3 proteins (albacore, Cajun crab, spicy tuna) and everything was fresh and delicious! So many toppings for a great deal. The guy helping me was super helpful and patient and I was able to get out the door at 758 with my to go food. Place is clean bright.

No Poke shop in Ventura even comes close. I live within walking distance from Poke Rainbow and I'm glad that I do. When you first walk in you'll notice how neat and tidy the business is. Next you'll see the menu on the left wall. You can choose from a small, medium, or large. The small is two scoops of protein, the medium is three scoops, and so on. The toppings are unlimited which is absolutely amazing (because we all know the others will charge the arm and leg for toppings). The business is family owned and operated which makes me love it even more. The owner and his son are both very friendly and have great customer service. I'm very big on customer service since I also work in customer service. They will make suggestions that fit your pallet. I will be going back on a regular basis. Thank you for the amazing food, you can taste the passion and passion in every piec

I came here when they first opened and it seems as though now they're asked to really keep portions under control to keep costs down which is understandable. I get it it's tough times with Covid. The large poke bowl was almost $20. The rice was mushy and my fish weren't drenched with enough sauce so it lacked the flavor I wanted. I understood they charge extra now for more crab which is understandable as well. I just doesn't hit the same. I used to love it. It was filling and the two gentlemen working tonight were very polite. Fish and stuff isn't kept covered with lids so I worry about flies or other bugs getting into it. Maybe it's just me worrying too much.

This place just felt dirty. You walk in and there's crumbs on the counter, some of the food toppings are exposed to the customers, and none of the tables were clean. I was apprehensive about eating any of the food there and instead trying the place next door that had a line, but I went ahead and ordered. Mediocre but not terrible. Because of how dirty the inside was I just did not feel good about eating here. Rushed to finish to get out of the place.

this is a small- 2 fish. and this amount is after I deconstructed it. wow, this much fish, thank you!!

The main difference at this poke place compared to other choices in the area is that they are fairly generous with their fish. Some other places give a little melon baller for one serving of fish, and here one serving seems to be a lot more. The woman who served me today Wednesday 10/14 was very friendly and accommodating. I will definitely return here.

All aboard the train to flavor town! Choo, choo!

~ SMALL SPACE, BIG FLAVOR, A HIDDEN GEM ~…read more Gotetsu is one of those blink and you'll miss it spots, but once you're inside, you know you've found something sooo special!! Cozy, intimate, and very much a hole in the wall izakaya, this place is all about authentic Japanese flavors and perfectly grilled skewers. There is NO sushi here (they make that very clear), just kushiyaki, small plates, and goooood vibes. I've never been to Japan (yet), but I would imagine this is what it would be like walking into a small mom and pop shop there. The open kitchen is tiny but fun to watch, and from pretty much any seat you can see your food being made. It's a GREAT date night spot, order a bunch of dishes and share everything so much fun. We came for dinner and with a rotating menu of skewers and specials we were satisfied and it kept things interesting! Lunch is more limited, with preset options, but the quality still hits. The donburi is solid, the chicken curry is comforting (could use a little more protein), and the skewers, especially pork belly, chicken & onion, and meatballs, are seasoned and grilled really well. Veggie skewers like zucchini and brussels sprouts are simple but still tasty. At dinner, my husband and I loved the spicy garlic edamame, chicken thigh with yuzu pepper, ribeye skewer, gyoza, and the yaki onigiri (grilled rice ball with a crispy outside). Pro move: dip the onigiri into the leftover spicy edamame sauce. Trust. Ordering is easy with scan-and-pay, the owner is hands-on, and you can feel the care put into every dish. Take it easy with the ordering (they are typically skewer by skewer because you can easily rack up a hefty bill!) If you're looking for an authentic Japanese izakaya experience in Ventura, focused on flavor, not trends, Gotetsu absolutely delivers.

Feels very contemporary and not like a darker wood ambiance of more traditional Japanese sushi places. This place must generate most of their business from their super packed HH. Once 5pm hit, it got noticeably busier, and by 530pm- fully packed. Sumo is maybe one of the few places that allows takeout of their HH items because they know how crowded they get. That is generous of them. I think their prices are among the most affordable for HH sushi around this area and everything was fresh. I am not picky sushi rolls person, but I would guess their sushi quality is average, made for mass consumption and general public, not for people who really want Japan level top grade sushi/ sashimi. Service: it all depends. Most of the servers are college aged young women. So a lot of them huddle and talk during busy HH time while they constantly scan the busy entrance for new diners. It can take awhile for someone to actually come take your order; we were lucky our server was pretty sweet natured. But in general I don't get the vibe that most of the servers are very focused about their jobs. But with busy HH, warm and friendly service isn't a priority. We're here for the HH deals and fresh affordable sushi. For these points, Sumo delivers. The ambiance: modern and bright, not my first choice. I prefer more low key settings. I think if I came to eat solo, eating at the sushi bar would be a pleasant experience, if I came before 5pm rush.

First, the gal who took our order was super friendly and helpful. The food was really good. Reminded me of We had the original chicken wings, japchae, kimbap, bulgogi bowl and the yuzu and grape ades. All of the dishes were wonderful. Chicken was nice and crispy --good flavor throughout and not greasy at all! The japchae had a great balance of flavors and the shiitake mushrooms, in particular, had really great flavor--must have been marinated for a long time to soak up all the juices! The kimbap was delicious! It was fresh and the pickle in it (Japanese call it takuan, idk what its name in Korean is) was super mild. It didn't overpower the other ingredients. The bulgogi was a solid dish. It had also the glass noodles on one side and plenty of meat and veggies. A good, well-rounded dish. We will come back for bing soo after the kid finishes finals, if it isn't too late! A local regular enthusiastically suggested we try it, so we will be back. The drinks were really delicious as well. Not too sweet and refreshing taste--I think each one is handmade individually. Overall, I highly recommend this place. It has all of the taste of real Korean home cooking at a good price point. You can get quality dishes in a casual in-and-out setting. We will be back for sure!

The bibimbap was very standard -- nothing special or memorable about it. It tasted like a typical Korean bibimbap you can get at many other places, but here it was priced at $12.75, while I've seen similar dishes at other restaurants for under $8. The wings were the same story. A small portion of five wings costs $12.99, and while they tasted fine, they were just ordinary Korean fried wings. Nothing about them really stood out to justify the price. Overall, the food is decent, but there's nothing unique or special that makes the higher prices make sense. In my opinion, the only thing that stands out about this restaurant is that it's overpriced for what it offers.

I was surprised that the ramen didn't come with the usual beansprouts and bamboo shoots but each place is different.
